Welcome from SorryGuy[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We as a community are glad to have you and thank you for creating a user account! Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Yes some of the links appear a bit boring at first, but they are VERY helpful if you ever take the time to read them.

Remember to place any articles you create into a category so we don't get orphans.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome. SorryGuy 05:39, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Zoo Crew and Category:Animal superheroes[edit]

Hi! Rather than categorize each Zoo Crew member in Animal superheroes, the Category:Zoo Crew members should be added to Category:Animal superheroes. That takes care of all of them at once and keeps the category listings uncluttered for each hero. CovenantD 04:17, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! CovenantD 04:35, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bozo[edit]

I reverted your change of Bozo into a redirect because it was, as you might have seen, just fine as a disambiguation page. I don't see why you would want all editors looking for the Bozo people or the Bozo languages ending up with Bozo the Clown. Besides, please remember that the latter one is well-known within the U.S., not globally - whereas the English version of Wikipedia is a global enterprise. Thanks, — mark 05:36, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I saw that your addition of 'the worlds most famous clown' was undone by someone else. The problem is, I think, that he is only known inside the U.S. by that qualification. — mark 06:07, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cut and paste moves[edit]

Please don't move articles by cutting and pasting from one article or another:

In the early days of Wikipedia, renamings took place manually, using cut and paste, before the move page function was created by our hard-working developers.
Now, cut-and-paste moves are usually done by people who are not aware of that function, or when the move function fails (e.g. because the target has history), and people don't know to use Wikipedia:Requested moves (WP:RM) to ask for help from an admin.
When a cut-and-paste move is done, the page history of an article or talk page can be split among two or more different pages. This is Very Bad, because we need to keep the history with the content for copyright reasons.

(From Wikipedia:How to fix cut and paste moves.) If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. tregoweth 03:37, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. (Regarding cut and paste moves to Lulu (entertainer) and Jewel (entertainer)) Jamoche 04:49, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Show preview and redirects[edit]

Please use the "Show preview" button when you are editing, instead of making several edits in rapid succession. From Help:Show preview:

Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the article will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this prior to saving. This allows you to check what the page will look like first and to check that you haven't made any errors. It also prevents the need for multiple saves. Saving the same article a large number of times in quick succession makes it harder for people to check what changed, and clogs up the page history.

Also, creating redirects for someone's full name is generally not necessary, especially when the full name is not widely known. It is very unlikely, for example, that anyone wanting to look up Don Bluth would search for "Donald Virgil Bluth."

If you have any questions, please feel free to message me on my talk page or email me. tregoweth 14:52, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Nestle Ice Cream Logo.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Nestle Ice Cream Logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:39, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Fruit Stripe Logo.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Fruit Stripe Logo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 18:46, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:Bobs Candies Logo.gif[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Bobs Candies Logo.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:14, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Image copyright problem with Image:American Juniors-One Step Closer.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:American Juniors-One Step Closer.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --10:29, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Lilac Road over I-15 Bridge[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Lilac Road over I-15 Bridge, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Not notable.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Proposed deletion of Robert Cait[edit]

The article Robert Cait has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability or importance, possible BLP violations.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ElectricBurst(Electron firings)(Zaps) 05:17, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Robert Cait requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
