UC Berkeley[edit]

I'm glad you went to Berkeley. Seems like a cool place. It may surprise you to know that not everyone in the English-speaking world understands what "UC Berkeley" means and making them go through the extra effort of clicking a redirect instead of just using the actual name of the article and the university is unhelpful to a casual reader, especially those not from the United States and attuned to the world of elite public universities. Also, every single page on this website has always displayed education from the first university attended, especially if a transfer process occurred (such as with Barack Obama and Ruth Bader Ginsburg), making their paths to the degrees clearer. My mistake, I didn't see your response until now. Thanks for addressing your concerns regarding chronological order in the infobox. Given that, I think your edits pertaining to the ordering of institutions make sense. However, in regards to abbreviating the name of the university, not quite sure why that would be confusing. Plenty of articles abbreviate the names of institutions attended, such as Emmanuel Macron which abbreviates École nationale d'administration to "ÉNA" and Donald Trump, which shortens Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania to "The Wharton School". I think part of why these pages have their institutions abbreviated/shortened is for stylistic reasons (not wanting the name of the school to exceed one line in the infobox), which just makes the infobox look cleaner and more user-friendly (e.g. not confusing the reader visually by have "University of California" on one line, and "Berkeley" on another, which can seem like two separate universities to those unfamiliar with American higher education). Anyway, not gonna duke this out if you seem insistent on keeping the entire name of the university, but just wanted to make my rationale clear. BUjjsp (talk) 19:04, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I do not know how to request for a block on one editor's account, so I am doing it here. This editor (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:121.88.165.241#top) has been using invectives and crude language violative of WP standards. Yesterday (16:42, 15 March 2020 (UTC), he wrote "You are just dumb. dumb. dumb" in Talk:McGill University. He had been warned before in relation to another article (on UC Berekeley).
