License tagging for Image:BMcCJ.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BMcCJ.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Yup, I haven't a clue why people wanted to delete it. The very first version of it was fine. I always need help in formatting some of the complex stuff. People here are ideologically opposed to certain biographies and claim anyone who wasn't a president of the US isn't important. And I thing they would love to get rid of few dozen ex-presidents as well. Its always a good idea to back up some of your work off site. I have a Google account and that lets me add information directly into Google at pages.google.com or base.google.com. And don't forget to contribute family biographies to findagrave.com. You can also store biographies in your userspace this way: User:BMcCJ/Whipple family history or by adding any article title after the slash. The more places you store them, the more likely they will survive your own life. Get a Google account today so you can reserve your name. Oh, and here is how Google pages look Eddie Schneider. Whip Jones[edit]

I was happy to support your article on Whip Jones. It is infuriating to have these pompous uninformed people judging meaingful articles while no one questions the plethora of meaningless articles on cartoon characters and minor entertainers. One of my articles on a prolific boat design team was nominated for deletion by a teenager whose contributions were a series of biographies on child actors in some obscure movie. Another was proposed by a member of the Pokeman project. Madness!

Merging Notability pages Organizations and Companies[edit]

You may find this interesting as it is somewhat related to your notability battles. I have for some time tried to simplify the notability guidelines for companies, since there are editiors out there tagging any small company because they misunderstand the confused rules, which imply that small companies are not notable. Some of us are also advocating a merger of companies and organizations for the notability page.

Cross-namespace links[edit]

It is considered inappropriate (although I don't recall the actual guideline) for links from the mainspace to link to pages in userspace, such as User:BMcCJ. Please don't do that. Hmmm I seem to have seen it done in many places. Including the link from Talk:Arthur Rubin --> User:Arthur Rubin, with the line that says the subject of this article has also edited Wikipedia. Baed on your example, I thought it was OK. See Talk:Arthur Rubin for the example of such a link. Feel free to send me the link to the actual guideline, and I'll revise. The guideline only applies to links from the main article space to user space. Talk has its own rules, and user can link anywhere. For the moment, consider WP:CSD#R2 which states that redirects from the main article space to User:, or Talk:, or User Talk:, can be speedily deleted, and Jimbo's instructions that the encyclopedia should be self-contained with only the main article space, template space, and category space. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 08:30, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

General Aubrey Hornsby[edit]

I've been doing a lot of work with articles for deletion, trying to rewrite and perserve what I think are valauable projects. I've got one that might benefit from your expertise as a former AF officer. Aubrey Hornsby was a WWI veteran who joined the air service in the early 1920s, and rose to general by the end of WWII. I think that the article is facinating, but I can't seem to find much solid evidence to support the "facts" that I got from the poorly written earlier article. Any ideas? There are enough tid-bits on the web to support the story, but not to prove to Wiki notabilty "standards"
