New stub sorter...[edit]

Hi - you wrote: Im new at wikipedia and want to help with things like. Ive had a look at the stub project and your name seems to be everywhere so I thot Id ask what you think would be a good place to help?

Welcome to Wikipedia! There are all sorts of things that you could help with. Best place to start might be having a look at two of the project's pages, WP:WSS/C (which is where new stub types are proposed) and WP:WSS/ST, which is the big list of all the stub types there are (don't be put off - it's a huge list!). A lot of the categories listed there are very big and have a lot of smaller sub-categories. Just shifting some of the things from the big parent categories into the right subcategories is the main stub-sorting task (like moving things from Category:People stubs to an occupation like Category:Writer stubs or a nationality like Category:Canadian people stubs). Other than that, keep an eye out for the ideas being suggested at the criteria page (WP:WSS/C) to see what new suggestions are coming up. Hope you enjoy being a Wikipedian! CFD[edit]

Hello. Maybe you will be interested to vote on the CFD for that "Oceanic trenches by depth (km)" category. Just go here. - Darwinek 13:00, 7 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

re: delete. Catagories are catagories and lists are lists and never the twain should meet. BL Lacertae 00:18, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
OH, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet,
   Till Earth and Sky stand presently at God’s great Judgment Seat;
But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,
When two strong men stand face to face, tho’ they come from the ends of the earth!

Geo-stubs[edit]

Hi - I notice you've been creating a few Trinidad and Tobago geo-stubs. Just wanted to point out that there is a separate {{Caribbean-geo-stub}} you can use for them. Grutness...wha? 06:44, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

TT articles[edit]

I noticed you have an interest in Trinidad and Tobago, so I thought I would welcome you to Wikipedia. Also, check out the Caribbean Wikipedians' notice board. Glad to have some more people working on TT-related articles. Guettarda 15:19, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mula disambiguation page[edit]

Hello, thank you for your changes. I am new to Wikipedia and wasn't quite sure about some conventions. Tobi Kellner 07:47, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Trinidad[edit]

Hi - thought you'd like to know there's now a separate {{Trinidad-geo-stub}} for Trinidad and Tobago articles! Grutness...wha? 08:02, 23 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Block[edit]

Sorry that yesterday's blocks got you as well :/. With any luck something will be done about it soon - there are discussions going on at Wikipedia:Blocking policy proposal that - hopefully - will make it possible to block anons from an IP without affecting logged-in registered editors. Grutness...wha? 05:16, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, thank you very much. I never intended for this little article to generate any attention at all. The work that you folks are doing to rationalize stubs is wonderful. Again, thanks for fixin' it up. --hydnjo talk 02:18, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

And it works just fine. thanks again, --hydnjo talk 04:41, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering[edit]

...whenever my request would ever be acknowledged. Thank you for letting me know what's going on. And for that, I'd like to present you with a barnstar. I usually don't do this but you have shown exceptional consideration in dealing with my frustation about this. hydnjo talk 05:06, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

ive put it on my user page. thanks! BL Lacertae - kiss the lizard

My RFA[edit]

Thank you very much for supporting my rather contentious request for adminship, but now that I've been promoted, I'd like to do a little dance here *DANCES*. If you have any specific issues/problems with me, please feel free to state them on my talk page so that I can work to prevent them in the future, and thanks once again!  ALKIVAR 07:31, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fix your sig[edit]

I believe your sig is broken - it seems to lack a closing tag for "font color = red". Please see the history of Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2005 November 8 and you'll see what I mean. Radiant_>|< 01:01, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

ok ive fixed it but it shouldnt matter becuase it changes straight from red to grey. thanks tho. BL kiss the lizard 04:47, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
It matters; it matters a lot. There is a wiki tool for cleaning up after open tags, but with the poor server performanace today, they've disabled it, and may do so again in the future. Caerwine 23:26, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
ok that makes sense. its fixed now anyways. thanks for the explanation BL kiss the lizard 23:48, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please log off if you use my computer[edit]

Hi E - You didn't log off when you were round here earlier! I just did four tildes on an article and got your sig. People will begin to wonder what's going on. I don't want people thinking you're a sockpuppet! Grutness...wha? 07:30, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

oops - ok sorry! BL kiss the lizard 05:10, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hair metal stub[edit]

Hi,

Why the sudden rush to suggest deleting the hair metal stub when it was just created? There certainly are more than enough articles to justify this stub, I just haven't tagged enough of them yet. Cjmarsicano 00:36, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fijian geography stubs[edit]

You're welcome. Thanks for pointing out my mistake, and I'll try to be more careful in future. David Cannon 13:28, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Removing stub tag from Vaspurakan[edit]

The stub tag has been removed twice today from this article without giving any rationale as to why. If this is part of the stub-sort project I'd kindly ask you to provide edit summaries for such changes. Also, from reading the literature sources this article can be expanded substantially, so I'd say the stub tag is warranted. I will revert your change if there is no answer. Thanks. -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ | Esperanza 01:36, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Point granted, but please use edit summaries. -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ | Esperanza 11:49, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The Value of Informative Stubs[edit]

I would like context for your actions in this case, please? I posted about the template on WP:WSS/P and have not actually gotten any comment on my points made on why such a stub is a good thing. How is it preferable for instance to pidgeon hole an article that is clearly on both education and government into one category or the other with a stub. {{Education-stub}} which you applied to Intermediate Unit being a very good example as these function as Intermediate Unit's provide a government superstructure to the educational system and provide many services beyond what one would consider normal educational functions. There is no Goverment and Education stub and its doubtful it would be useful to create a stub for that limited of a topic matter. However its certainly better to provide context what the stub is about then just supply the uninformative: This is a Stub you can help Wikipedia by expanding it. Particularly if other proposals such as making {{stub}} deprecated occur. — Falerin<talk>,<contrib> 13:24, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your timely response. Between you and User:Grutness:Grutness I am clear on the issue and have retracted my objection on WP:WSS/P. — Falerin<talk>,<contrib> 13:59, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Also I am interested in Stubsorting and if you can direct me to ways I can get started effectively I would be most appreciative — Falerin<talk>,<contrib> 14:18, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Bristol Schools Philharmonia[edit]

Just a simple mistake... thanks for fixing it. --W.marsh 00:53, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hong Kong stubs[edit]

Oops, sorry! I lose track of the stub categories. Deb 23:42, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Good point! Deb 13:03, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry[edit]

Been yelled at twice in 5 minutes. I'm tired. :) Should get off of here. Thanks for the advice though. --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 10:39, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No reason to be sorry. I made the mistake! :) --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 10:46, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thank you for your help sorting the stubs for the Church of Christ in Congo. I would love to find a place with a list of all the specific stubs, so I don't have to get into these messes. Peace. Themalau 07:19, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Merry Christmas![edit]

Merry Christmas to you, too! I take it the "Jamie" was revenge for me calling you Emma earlier :) Grutness...wha? 01:08, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't be a dick. --SPUI (talk | don't use sorted stub templates!) 05:19, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

its pretty clear who around here is being a dick. and it aint me. BL kiss the lizard 05:23, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I was meaning to put in {{listdev}} but couldn't find the button so just went with {{stub}}. Thanks for fixing that up. I meant to change the cleanup tag to cleanup December but couldn't figure out how to do that either. I also cleaned it up a bit myself, but I am not convinced it is currently "clean". I have seen other lists and they usually look a lot better than that. Anyway thanks again. Zordrac (talk) Wishy Washy Darwikinian Eventualist 11:53, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Oh well thanks. Looks like it's been vandalised though. All that hard work! Ah well. I am not in the mood for edit wars so I will let someone else deal with that. Zordrac (talk) Wishy Washy Darwikinian Eventualist 23:06, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
