Overall[edit]

During ongoing proofreading, I ran across a mirror of an article on her acquisition of the notable piano referenced in the Infobox musical artist, /Press/StarMag01152007 at Deborah-Gibson.com. Problem is, StarMagazine.com no longer has the article anywhere on its website! Who has an alternate source? - B.C.Schmerker 14:48, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The link to her website still works. You shouldn't have any problems using that as a source. The important part is that someone can check and see that you're not screwing with them. You should give thought to switching all of your links to WebCite so you don't have to worry about them dying on you. Chris Croy 17:46, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Randi Reisfeld, Debbie Gibson: Electric Star![edit]

During ongoing proofreading, I ran across a challenge to the accuracy of Randi Reisfeld, Debbie Gibson: Electric Star! (Bantam Books, 1989), at Deb.org/ftp/BTL/Volume2/BTL2.4#ERRORS%20IN%20UNAUTHORIZED%20BIOGRAPHY%2C%20%22Electric%20Star%22
Reisfeld's book claimed five #1 hits (presumably across all charts). From the Deborah Gibson Out of the Blue fansite at AngelFire.com, Gibson's four #1 hits among five total top-ten hits as of April 1989 (apparently a misunderstanding at Bantam Books) were spread across two charts: "Shake Your Love" and "Out of the Blue (Debbie Gibson song)" both took number one on the Billboard Hot Maxi-Singles; "Foolish Beat" stalled at number three on this chart while taking number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Being only a single, "Lost in Your Eyes," which held number one for three weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, was ineligible for the Hot Maxi-Singles.

What other angles are available on this dispute? - B.C.Schmerker 06:06, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Check out Billboard's official charts. You can only see the past 20 years and a limited selection of charts without paying up. They list two #1 singles: Foolish Beat and Lost In Your Eyes. Chris Croy 17:46, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Green tickYConcurs with my existing material: Two #1 on the Hot 100, two #1 on the Hot Maxi-Singles, no one landing #1 on both. - BCS

Trivia[edit]

Concerning Gibson's dating history, Randi Reisfeld made specific mention of Brian Bloom, e.g. as Gibson's escort at the 1988 senior promenade, Sanford H. Calhoun High School, in her book Debbie Gibson: Electric Star! (Bantam Books, 1989); that source being challenged, I need a backup source to Reisfeld. Who has one? - B.C.Schmerker 14:37, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What Makes Debbie A-Doo Run-Run?; Teen Star Debbie Gibson & Her Drive to the Top. Richard Harrington. The Washington Post. Washington, D.C.: Jul 10, 1988. pg. g.01. "School and family cooperated to protect Gibson's privacy, though some parents provided local and national television with videos of the graduation ceremonies and much was made of her senior prom date, Brian Bloom of "As the World Turns."" Theater[edit]

The article Dean Parker that I ran across in ongoing proofreading may be inconsistent with the known information about the Dean Parker that runs the Florida theater company. Who has what information to connect or disconnect these two? - B.C.Schmerker 06:18, 5 May 2007 (UTC) Red XN Question withdrawn pending source check for /wiki/Dean_Parker 14:37, 26 May 2007 (UTC). - BCS[reply]

Using proper Project infoboxes[edit]

Do not replace Guitarist infoboxes with musician infoboxes... especially on notable guitarists. The Guitarist Project rejected the use of the musician box over its very unattractive colour scheme. Since the Guitarist Project is much more active and has many more members, the musician project agreed that it would be rude and poor etiquette to substitute the generic musician infobox for the more specific Guitarist box. That being said, it is OK to substitute the Guitarist infobox in place of the musician infobox if the artist is an especially notable guitarist since, in those particular situations, it is likely that the musician infobox has been used by mistake. The Guitarist Project pages can provide more detail if req'd. Have a nice day. 156.34.215.139 11:08, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
