A tag has been placed on Notable Rock Albums, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. If you plan to provide more material to the article, I advise you to do so immediately, and also put a note on Talk:Notable Rock Albums. An administrator should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 1 under Articles. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and then immediately add such material.Diez2 22:38, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Avram. I have deleted this album as Diez2 notes. Lists tend to start giant arguments as people can never agree what should be on and what shouldn't. You might be interested in browsing categories like Category:Grammy Hall of Fame Awards or other categories using a specific criteria. Thanks, BanyanTree 01:02, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Quanahbusiness.GIF[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Quanahbusiness.GIF. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:10, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Kiss images[edit]

If you want to add images to Kiss articles, they must have specific sources, copyright info, and fair use rationales. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 20:11, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Love the tags!!![edit]

I see that you do not appear to have a love for image tags. Please consider that all images must have tags or they can be deleted. And we don't want that. Please - tag your images!

There are links in that OrphanBot comment above that can help you understand stuff about image tags. If you need any help whatsoever with image tags (or anything, really...I can at least redirect you to someone else...) please leave me a message on my talk page.

As for the 1974 image, I need more (lots more) information to be able to tag it and for it to be Wikipedia-friendly. What website did you get it from? who took the photograph? if you didn't take the photograph, and it doesn't say that it's a free image, do you have any reason to think that you're definitely allowed to use it? Any information at all, even if it's just a web link, would be helpful. You image is listed under Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images under January 21. Let us know on that page if you have any information that can help. Obviously, if you think the image was important enough to upload, we'd like to keep it if possible - but even the great Wikipedia is subject to U.S. Copyright laws...sigh...

Leave us a message - happy editing! Verloren Hoop 05:41, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, that's not really enough to keep the image. If it's very important, keep looking - consider maybe asking the uploader where he/she got it from. Also, it depends on where you're going to use it. If it's for an article, you might be able to see if it's a promotional image, so you could possibly use it. You can also consider just using another image that someone has already uploaded (although I do like this one :) ) Also, you could ask someone who is involved a lot in KISS article projects. Although I'm a fan, I really don't know much about which photoshoots were done when (this looks like it was a photoshoot)

On another note, it would be great if when you leave a comment, you could sign your name. Just put four of these: ~ Verloren Hoop 04:49, 24 January 2007 (UTC). Thanks![reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Acefrehley.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Acefrehley.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:37, 30 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Balloonguy 00:37, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You need to make sure to check for sources for the paragraph you added to the article. It's under Featured Article Review and unsourced material will likely be removed pretty rapidly, or contribute to the article's being de-listed as a featured article. - Mocko13 03:17, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Templates are your friends[edit]

Great job on Roman and Byzantian emperors! They ask to be in a template, don't you think? Please see m:Help:Templates or feel free to ask me or WP:HELP. Cheers. ←Humus sapiens ну? 02:58, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it seems that you have created all the HTML for the template on each Roman emperor page. This is a problem because someone could edit the version on one page but not the others! What want to do is create a single template and then add {{Roman emperors}} on each Roman emperor page, ensuring that there's only one version of the template. --Jfruh (talk) 14:23, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi -- a while back you added this to the Egbert of Wessex page. I'd like to get this article to featured status, and I'd need a source for this. Can you tell me where you got the information? Thanks. Mike Christie (talk) 00:46, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I'm referring to the paragraph about the bones, not the bretwalda notes. Thanks. Mike Christie (talk) 00:47, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Let_There_Be_Rock.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Let_There_Be_Rock.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 10:01, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Alfred the Great, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ddhome.PNG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ddhome.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 20:45, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Main Line Riders requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. The article This Is It (Bride album) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable album

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
