Бурегџиница

Hello,

Thank you for your comment on my talk page. The detailed most important reasons for removal of the photo of Burek shop are:

  • the name of the burek shop is too large and making this photo looking like advertisement
  • table and chairs outside do not show anything typical or related to Borek
  • its poor quality

I do agree with you that it is important to have a picture of Burek shop, but not with too big sign with the name of the shop or tables and chairs. I think that a photo of burek shop showing something more related directly to Burek like showcases with boreks keeping hot or place where a borek is prepared. That is only my opinion based on the above mentioned arguments. If you think I am wrong, feel free to let me know why.

All the best.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 11:34, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

Article assessment

Hi Atefrat,

I have noticed that you have been re-assessing some highway articles recently, including upgrading many to B-class. Some of these have been changed or reverted by another editor (I assume that he's from WP Highways). I have further reverted some of the assessments, as I believed that they ranked the articles too highly.

While WikiProject Israel doesn't have an assessment scale that's as clearly defined as in WikiProject Military History for example, the guidelines are about the same, namely that B-class articles should be very high quality. Among other things, this includes referencing, which every single article about Israeli highways unfortunately lacks in. You might be interested to know however, that I've added materials sections to talk pages of a bunch of highway articles, with some relevant sources that can be used. C-class can be used more freely, but articles with outstanding tags (especially the unreferenced tag) probably shouldn't be C-class until the issues in the tags are resolved.

Cheers, —Ynhockey (Talk) 10:32, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I got a little carried away! I discussed it at length and got advice from "Floydian" and "Imzadi1979". I'm not sure I'm up to the task of expanding and organizing the major road articles at this time. For now, I'm going to leave well enough alone! --@Efrat (talk) 14:28, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Eggah

Thanks for letting me know about the discussion on eggah -- see my comments there.

As for eggah vs. ajjah, yes, 'ajjah is the standard transliteration of the Arabic, but for whatever reason, the name eggah seems more popular in English. Try the Google search "eggah" "omelette" vs. "ajjah" "omelette", for example. I don't know why, perhaps because it was introduced or popularized by Egyptians in general or Claudia Roden in particular in Europe and North America? But I have added ajjah to the lead. --Macrakis (talk) 18:29, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

Whether to treat various things together or separately is a difficult judgement call. But I'm afraid I really don't have the time to discuss this now.... --Macrakis (talk) 13:52, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Do you have a version of the Israel railway map without the English station names? --Redaktor (talk) 06:56, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

I hope this is useful: Israel railway map without names --@Efrat (talk) 12:07, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
That's wonderful, thanks. I can now adapt it for yiwiki. --Redaktor (talk) 10:35, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
According to the Israel Railways map, a number of stations are not on the green line (Atlit, Hutsot Hamifrats, Kiryat Haim).--Redaktor (talk) 08:32, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, the official map shows no stops at these stations on the green line, but if you sift very carefully through the actual pdf schedules, there are, in fact, a few trains travelling the full length from the North to Beer Sheva that do stop at these stations. Maybe these rare exceptions should not be depicted in the map. Must decide. --@Efrat (talk) 16:05, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
There's going to be a new schedule which might change some lines around (if there isn't already). Right now I'm not in Israel, but if you're willing to wait a couple weeks, when I get back I can make you an SVG version according to whatever the new schedule is. —Ynhockey (Talk) 02:39, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, Ynhockey, but I went ahead and adjusted the map. If Israel Railways thinks this is the way it should be, then that's good enough for me. I also made the changes to the map with no names, Redakter. Zol zayn mit mazel. --@Efrat (talk) 07:16, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, Atefrat. If I understand the new schedules correctly, there are no longer any through trains from Nahariya to Beer Sheva! BTW, I have made a new svg version. --Redaktor (talk) 06:12, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
You are partly correct. No Nehariya-Beer Sheva, Sun.-Thurs. But the trains do run on Fridays.[(see temporary schedules)]. This change beginning Sun, July 15, 2012 due to infrastucture reconstrucion. There's no indication as to how long the work will take. (No surprise there.) The official map (with the full green line) has not been changed.
Thank you for pointing this out. I wasn't able to find these schedules! --Redaktor (talk) 17:55, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
You should be aware of a problem with the method you used of mapping the stations on the svg. ([מוסטער:ישראל באנען רוטעס 2012]) The upside to this method is that the same map may be used by many wikis in different languages, each mapping there own labels onto the map. However, the station names only line up (in most if not all browsers) when the window is maximized. Partially sizing the window creates a mess.--@Efrat (talk) 07:25, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
OK, I see what you are saying. I shall have to add the station names to the map. (Sorry, I would have liked to have used your map, but could not fit the names in. I cannot edit your map because it appears to a single object.) Thanks for your help. --Redaktor (talk) 10:31, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Re: Interchange

Hi Atefrat,

I have fixed the formatting problem and corrected the English name (which should have the reserve numerical order, as in Hebrew grammar the first number in a list delimited by dashes is on the right). Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 09:22, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

I had, in fact, used the dash in an effort to fix the parentesis problem. Actually, in the original (and official) Hebrew documentation (Jerusalem Muncipality), the numbers are deliminated with a forward slash. I replaced the dashes with slashes and placed the 4 first in English. I have also heard Hebrew speakers call it מחלף ארבע עשרים saying the four before the twenty. Anyway, let's not get bogged down in such minutiae. Hopfully, we'll get a real name soon. And, there is something much more important to deal with:
I'm sure you know that Route 404 has always been called Route 50 in Moriah Develpment Corp.'s documentation. Now I see that the number 50 is being used on Walla Maps. Curious to understand what was going on, I went to the official Israel Ministry of Transport, and lo and behold, 404 is now called 50 in the most recent documentation! (check it out) It makes sense since, as a fully interchanged, limited-access freeway, that Kvish Begin rates a 2-number designation. I would have expected a number such as 56 or 58, since Begin is so close to 60 and the fact that Begin is relatively short with no foreseeable chance of being lengthened. But it is, after all, named after Menachem Begin, so 50 it is. A nice round number. Kol HaKavod! The question is, when do we rename (move) the page and create a redirect from 404 to 50. Do we have to wait for a newspaper article for a citation or is the MOT website proof enough? --@Efrat (talk) 15:40, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Feel free to move the article. —Ynhockey (Talk) 17:25, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

Re: Fares

Hi again,

Thank you for the warm words. I actually didn't remove the source but put it at the bottom of the table—this is a convention, although of course we are free to choose a different convention if it improves the article.

The road to GA is still long, but we're making good progress. Please see the additional notes I left on the talk page.

Third Wall

Hey Poliocretes, you reverted my recent edit to Jerusalem during the Second Temple Period. The name in Hebrew, per se, was not what was important to me. I was trying to provide a wikilink for various mentions of "the Third Wall" (HaHoma HaShlishit) in other Wikipedia articles. I ran into a problem when using the hash (#) to link directly to the appropriate second level section in "Jerusalem during the Second Temple Period". Second level sections titled "Urban landscape" are used five times in the "Jerusalem during the Second Temple Period" article. I was trying to link to the fifth use of the subsection, "Urban landscape" under "Roman Prefects, Procurators, and the Destruction of the Temple". I was unsuccessful. My wikilinks kept going to the first subsection labeled "Urban landscape". Apart from telling me to create a new article about "The Third Wall", can you suggest a solution to my linking problem? Kind regards, --@Efrat (talk) 13:17, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi Atefrat, I see what you mean. In the long term, I think an article about ancient Jerusalem's three walls is an excellent idea. It's a subject that a lot of articles mention but which is never fully explored. In the short term, I think you can just go ahead and rename the sections, and that will solve your linking problem. Poliocretes (talk) 09:20, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
Renaming sections in the "Jerusalem during the Second Temple Period" article will open up a can of worms that I'm just not ready to deal with. Instead, I placed an "anchor" at the 5th instance of the use of the section name, "Urban landscape". That solution appears to be both effective and non-disruptive. P.S. I also put back the Hebrew translation of "the third wall" since that is the name used in another article from where the link originates. I hope you'll let that stand. Kind regards, --@Efrat (talk) 13:23, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
I won't revert you, Atefrat, but I do think it is rather pointless. What is it you hope to achieve by providing the Hebrew translation? I don't see it serving any purpose, no one is going to make the connection to another article merely because you've provided the translation. Poliocretes (talk) 14:47, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
Ah, look at it from the other way around. If someone reads "HaHoma HaShlishit" in an article and then links to something that only includes the phrase "the third wall", then the connection is lost unless the person is bilingual. Maybe you would prefer that I translate every instance of "HaHoma HaShlishit" into English so that when someone links to "the third wall" it will be clear. 6 of one, 1/2 a dozen of the other? If you can think of a compromise, I'm all for it. --@Efrat (talk) 17:56, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Hello Atefrat, it has some similarities and something in common. See my answer in the talk page. Lets help each other to find a summary how to feed the articles and link to each. You are right, I see there's something to do. --Hans Haase (talk) 11:02, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

I was thinking about something like this:
Frontage/Service road
While a Frontage/Service road in and of itself is not an actual interchange,it does provide "interchange" access between motorway and a non-motorway roads with entrance and exit ramps.
It would go just under the last gallery at the end of the"Between a motorway and a non-motorway road" section, before the"See also" section and include a diagram. --@Efrat (talk) 11:20, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for that. I had to tidy up your posting. Sincerely, -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 11:32, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

Your update at Maccabees

Hi Atefrat, I saw you made this update at Maccabees, it looks like you removed the Maccabees template and replaced it with an in-article table of the same info, plus dates. Can I ask why it was done that way? It looks like it would make more sense to just update the Maccabees template directly. Appreciate your feedback... Zad68 14:29, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

You're right, after I did it, I realized a template would be better. Please have patience. By tonight or tomorrow morning it will be done. --@Efrat (talk) 15:14, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
No problem, take your time to get it done right. Cheers... Zad68 15:18, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
Hastily done. I think I got it right. If you think you can improve it, your input would be appreciated. Kind regards. --@Efrat (talk) 15:45, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
Great, thanks for your work in this area. I'll look. Zad68 15:46, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

Re: Begin Highway

Hi Atefrat, assuming you weren't addressing User:Y ;), the answer is yes, it should be changed if this is what the manual of style says. It is also worth looking at the junction list to see that the kilometer counts go in the right direction. Please let me know if you need additional help. Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 19:27, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

And another thing: "New blue "Highway 50" signs are being posted by the National Roads Company of Israel to reflect this change." is information that will be outdated quickly, so it should be modified for past tense or "as of 2012" or something like that. Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 19:32, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
I'm never sure what to call you: Y, YH, Yh, Ynh, Yan... Anyway, you're the one! As for the kms, an accurate map as a reference (walla, google, bing) is not always quite right due to small variations created by changes in elevation. Once I drive it (which will probably be tomorrow on the way to work) I'll know for sure. If you get a chance, look at my sandbox6. As for the blue signs, we still have a long way to go before that's done. --@Efrat (talk) 19:44, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
