Thanks! I've been making contributions for a long time already, albeit as an anonymous user. Sometimes I forget to cite my sources but I can assure you that my revisions are well-researched and neutral, and I will always put here the sources where I got the information i'm adding. asnallar 07:08, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. While the Wikipedia community appreciates your obvious efforts to increase the amount of information on the site, we'd like to point out our policy against original research and for citing sources for the information you provide. This increases the reputation of Wikipedia as a whole and aids in checking the factuality of that article.

Also, a few other things: conjunctions, prepositions and articles in song and album titles should not be capitalised unless they are either the first or last word of the title (e.g. "There's Got to Be a Way", not "There's Got To Be A Way"), song and album titles should be directly linked to (e.g. Emotions and Music Box, not just Emotions and Music Box; please check where links lead to), and songs should also be enclosed in double quotation marks and albums in italics (if you're not sure how to insert italics, just view the source for this page). Also, year and month links shouldn't generally be inserted unless they are part of a full date (e.g. March 18 2005 would be okay as people using date preferences can view the date in whatever format they choose, but not March 2005, March 2005, or just 2005), per WP:CONTEXT. Thanks.

P.S. Sorry I didn't reply to your email. I think that "Bringin' on the Heartbreak" was released as a single (albeit to radio only) in the U.S., as it charted on the ARC Weekly Top 40. Also, about http://www.mundomariah.com/discscharts.htm: what are your sources for those sales figures? Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 14:05, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip.=) I still believe that "Bringin' on the Heartbreak" was released as a promo-only single and therefore should not be considered a "FTC", even if it charted on the dance charts (promo singles can do that right?). Pls check this link http://www.mcarchives.com/discography/pagina1.asp?id=bringinontheheartbreak This is from Mariah Carey Archives. This is a very reliable source. They even issued a book/CD-ROM on all Carey releases since 1990 and it's very extensive. This site confirms that it was a retracted single and was only released in Europe. Thanks! asnallar 15:08, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Blueball.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Blueball.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 10:04, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Butterfly-video.jpg)[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Butterfly-video.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Jusjih 01:01, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Thehollowincole.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Thehollowincole.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jusjih 01:04, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use disputed for Image:Guardiansofthehollow.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Guardiansofthehollow.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:23, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Thehollowincole.JPG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Thehollowincole.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Replaceable fair use Image:DJJoeGauthreaux06hi.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:DJJoeGauthreaux06hi.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add , without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. High on a tree (talk) 04:01, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Guardiansofthehollow.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Guardiansofthehollow.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Mariah Carey singles' template[edit]

Hello! I was just wondering why you keep adding the song "Hero" to the Template:Mariah Carey singles. Firstly, the song was already released as a single in 1993 so if anything this would be a re-release of the same song. Also, it does not seem to be a new version of the song or a some sort of remix titled "Hero 2009", but just the same song re-recorded for a video. I have had a look at the citations you've added, however none of these indicate that any song titled "Hero 2009" was released as a single either. I'd like to know your opinion on the situation. Thanks, Do U(knome)? yes...or no 06:53, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is a promotional single for The Ballads and other promotional singles, some without videos, like "Mine Again", or "Fly Like a Bird", are included in the singles template. The song has been re-recorded and it is a new version. And that version is available as a digital download, albeit limited, on Amazon.com. I actually originally saved "Hero" but then it got deleted so I posted "Hero 2009" but it is technically just "Hero", 2009 version. See also here [1], here [2]and here [3] for additional references for this promotional single. asnallar 13:51, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Precious / Push[edit]

I see you moved the article. I don't know if you saw my note on the Talk page about the article... I was cautioning to wait until we heard confirmation from something like Variety. Anyway, I found the Variety article today, and it says that the title is Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire. http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118000415.html?categoryid=13&cs=1 Do you think it's worth it to move the article, or just have the subtitle in the article instead?--Larrybob (talk) 19:10, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I think the subtitle should be in the article only, as it appears descriptive in nature and there's a chance it is not part of the legal name of the movie being distributed by Lionsgate. Some sources like MTV and Vh1 just report that the new title is Precious, without mentioning a subtitle. http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1605555/story.jhtml asnallar 04:33, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello, I noticed you've made edits to University of the Philippines (UP) and UP–related articles and thought you might want to support our recent proposal to create the WikiProject University of the Philippines. We've recently revamped the proposal and started a drive to push the approval of this project. We have a lot of articles that may be under this project and we would like assistance and support for its approval. Hope we'll have a very positive response. Go Fighting Maroons!

File permission problem with File:FAMBatch1-withChaco.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:FAMBatch1-withChaco.JPG, which you've sourced to Photo taken in Summer of 2007 by the Press Association of Cádiz.. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

 • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
 • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add OTRS pending to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
