Welcome...

Hello, Aryan song, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

BTW, I'm not sure what your intention is, but adding a new section with just a brief, unsourced snippet of part of a song lyric is not really helpful. If a discussion of the lyrics is important to the article, then please find some reliable sources documenting that discussion, and include the short lyrical excerpts as appropriate. As you are currently doing it, however, is rather more disruptive than helpful. Please try to avoid adding trivia to Wikipedia.

Again, welcome! — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 12:31, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

June 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Today Was a Fairytale, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, Aryan song, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because Nazi allusions are inappropriate. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. Jack Merridew 00:40, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Repeat links and table styles[edit]

You may be a little puzzled why so many of your good-faith contributions are being reverted. Although we want links in the text to link to other articles (see build the web), when there are too many links it dilutes the value of important links. There's good advice here to only link the first occurrence of an item, but there are exceptions such as when the article is long and a later occurrence of an item is a long way from the first. It means that we don't link an item just because we can; we need to look at the surrounding text and see if the same link is already there.

There's also a general move away from arbitrary colour-coding and other stylistic artifacts in tables toward a more neutral, unified appearance. It makes our encyclopedia look a little more professional and allows changes to be made across many articles if required, rather than having to maintain each article manually when styles are hard-coded into a page. There are multiple discussions going on in several parts of Wikipedia about these sort of issues, and many WikiProjects are examining their guidelines as a result. I see you're interested in films and music, so you might like to have a look at WP:WikiProject Films and the projects listed at WP:WikiProject Council/Directory/Culture/Music. This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Aryan song, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.  7  17:49, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
