WikiProject Climate change

Greetings and welcome, new(ish) editor! I saw you self-listed at Project Environment. FYI that project has spun off climate change to be its own stand-alone project. If that's a subject that interests, you, please consider visiting us at WP:WikiProject Climate change. We're still working on doing the conversion so some of the stuff will still refer to the task group of Project Environment. Happy RS-based editing! NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 20:04, 7 August 2019 (UTC)

Deletion pending for File:Gianna Yanelli.jpg

Hello, Apathyash. Some time ago, a file you uploaded — File:Gianna Yanelli.jpg — was tagged with {{OTRS pending}}, indicating that you (or perhaps the copyright holder if you did not create this image) submitted a statement of permission to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. Though there is often a backlog processing messages received at this address, we should have received your message by now.

  • If you have not submitted (or forwarded) a statement of permission, please send it immediately to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.
  • If you have already sent this message, it is possible that there was a problem receiving it. Please re-send it to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.

If we don't hear from you within one week, the file will be deleted. If we can help you, please feel free to ask at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 14:37, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

Mean Girls Pit Section

Hey! I noticed you removed the section I made on the pit for Mean Girls: The Musical. I do have some reasoning as to why it should stay in. The primary reason: It's relevant - the page in question isn't about any specific topic in the musical itself. It's essentially to contain as much (real and relevant) information about the musical, and the pit orchestra should definitely not be ignored. It's a huge factor of the show. I would totally understand not adding the names of past orchestra performers, but I feel it is needed because it has a lot to do with the musical - without it, it would just be a capella singing. Thanks! Beanrollup (talk) 23:31, 11 January 2020 (UTC)

Hey! @Beanrollup: So I looked around some other musicals on Wikipedia. Recent musicals like Beetlejuice and JLP don’t have an orchestration section, but some of the big ones such as Wicked and Phantom have them. So! I would suggest you follow the formatting and style of those musicals’ pages’ orchestra sections. They usually have an analysis of the music, that kind of thing. Let me know if you need help finding sources! Apathyash (talk) 03:53, 12 January 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Apathyash, I just wanted to let you know that I have responded to your image's section on the page discussion. It sounds like we have experienced the same issue. It seems to be a problem with contradictions in Wikipedia's image permission policy. Vontheri (talk) 10:44, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
Not helpful? Okay, sorry. Vontheri (talk) 21:56, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
@Vontheri: lol I mean, we are having the same issue. But I don’t know what to do about it, since no admins replied to us Apathyash (talk) 22:35, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
It should work if you ask the person who took the photograph that you tried to upload to send an email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org giving permission, instead of forwarding the email yourself. Personally, I don't feel comfortable asking the photographer who took the picture I was trying to upload to do so, as I already asked so much of him with trying to get his photo on Wikipedia and I don't want to keep bothering him. But, if you are able to ask your photographer to do so, and as long as wikipedia's staff doesn't find some other fault with the email, then it should work, although it might take months before they get around to processing the email. Just trying to be helpful. Vontheri (talk) 23:14, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
@Vontheri: I have the same problem; I’m afraid if I ask them to do it themselves, they won’t bother or they’ll want to take permission back. I am hoping the file just doesn’t get deleted. Don’t get why some parts of wikipedia say to get an email and forward it, then other parts say that isn’t enough. Apathyash (talk) 23:22, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
That's similar to my reasons for not wanting to contact the photographer of the image I emailed, too. It isn't the first contradiction I have encountered with image permission policy. Honestly, I have a feeling that both our images will end up being deleted, sorry to say. It's unfortunate, since it looks like the article for Reneé Rapp will be without any image of her, and the article for the town of Saltville, Virginia will be without the image I uploaded documenting a time when it was a booming town due to its connection to a major industry involved in the Space Race. I hope that someone with Wikipedia can finally fix this contradiction in policy, as there are surely countless other images that aren't available on articles that otherwise would be there if it weren't for this.
