Socksuspect

Hi Anna Frodesiak, I opened a sockpuppet investigation earlier and you notified the socksuspect at their talk page. I am just wondering if this is compulsory? I had thought it was optional given that it can sometimes make the situation worse, so I just want to make sure I have it right. Cheers Flat Out let's discuss it 12:23, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

When you say "opened", you mean added the new sock to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/OneMadScientist, right?
Good question about the notification. I know of no reason why not to add the tag. Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations says that when opening the case in the beginning it may be "sub-optimal" to give notice to the sock master. Is that what you were thinking of? Anyway, I add the tag so that before the account gets block, if the sock keeps editing, then others will know the story. If there's a reason not to tag, it would have to outweigh that reason, which seems like a pretty good reason. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:38, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Yes I meant added the new sock, sorry. In this instance I was hoping a block would be implemented before the puppet realised there was a report, to avoid further escalation of the drama. Your reason for adding the tag makes perfect sense and I agree with your approach. I appreciate you taking the time to answer. Best wishes, Flat Out let's discuss it 12:43, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Dirty Wars, The World Is a Battlefield - book cover - 01.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Dirty Wars, The World Is a Battlefield - book cover - 01.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. From Sajjad143 about references

Hi Can you please help me in providing references to my articles? I will be very thankful to you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sajjad143 (talkcontribs) 15:09, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

Sure. I see someone has already given you links to the guidelines, but here's the bottom line:
References go like this:
Rabbits are cute.
They eat carrots.
Paste this at the bottom of the article:
References
reflist
Click save and all the references will automatically get listed at the bottom. Easy peasy.
Good sources are newspapers, magazines, books, etc., not blogs, forums, or home made websites.
Also, consider searching XXXXXX site:edu or XXXXXX site -com or Google Books. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:52, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

Articles

Hi, can you check the articles I created Pete Wheeler and Tony Delvichio and see if I need anything to check. I am eager to publish an article, thanks! Hulkster1 (talk) 00:37, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

Please provide links like this: Chair.
Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Tony Delvichio uses wikis as references. Please see WP:RS.
Pete Wheeler was deleted as "Attack page or negative unsourced BLP". Can you provide good sources for that subject?
As I said before, you ought to work on articles that already exist first. Consider getting some edits that help you practice. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:38, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
I've done several Hulkster1 (talk) 15:50, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

I want to know where u r operating from. Please tell what is your academic qualification? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Svpnikhil (talkcontribs) 01:25, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

I can tell you that I'm operating from Haikou, Hainan, China. I cannot tell you about my academic qualifications for reasons of privacy. But, if you're asking about the punctuation/spacing issue (User talk:Svpnikhil#Your recent edits), I can assure you that what I said is correct. Please inspect articles, newspapers, books, etc. to see that it is so. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:30, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Sorry sir don't think it otherwise.I asked that because I made that mistake just now and in this mean while how do u know that I edit a page.I'm a new user and I'm interested about this wikipedia procedures, please can u tell? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Svpnikhil (talkcontribs) 01:39, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

  • Hi there, you might want to stop by the WP:Teahouse, which is chock full of nice volunteers who are just waiting to help new editors like yourself. You can ask and get answers to just about anything there. Oh, and at the end of your posts to talk pages, you should add ~~~~ which will automatically add your name and a time stamp. It is what we call a signature. Dennis Brown / / © / @ 01:46, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
I agree. That's a good plan. And to answer your question, I can see your contributions, and I watch lots of articles to see what changes have been made. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:00, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

I asked about ur academic qualification because u r keen observing such small mistakes also. So I did, but not to threaten u. Please I'm extremely sorry. 01:47, 17 June 2013 Svpnikhil (talk | contribs)

Please don't be sorry. I know you did not threaten me. Really, don't worry. We are all friends here. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:00, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

RfA

I'm on the other side of the planet than you, which means I will be heading off to bed before too long. If you need help with the template [1] and I'm not around, you can ask User:Boing! said Zebedee, User:Bbb23, User:Kudpung, User:Drmies or any number of other helpful admin. Glad to get started, I think the community will like what they see in you. The last bit of advice before it starts: Relax, take your time when answering questions even if it means several hours to research first, don't reply to all the votes, don't sit in front of the monitor refreshing, don't take anything personal, and just be yourself. "Yourself" is why so many of us like and support you. Dennis Brown / / © / @ 01:37, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for your encouragement. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:00, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
  • So, I check in on a Monday morning and the notification system tells me that Dennis has mentioned me over here - and I pop over and discover you're going for RfA! The day seems a bit sunnier now :-) -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 08:52, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Oh, and Dennis couldn't have put it better when he said "Yourself" is why so many of us like and support you. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 08:54, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
I typed RFA in the search box and found you have a "request for adminship" by clicking on links. I will go comment there on your behalf. I think you'd be a great site administrator. 512bits (talk) 09:28, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Article

Hi, can you check an article at Articles for creation called Nathaniel Moreau Hulkster1 (talk) 01:41, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

I don't see it. Please provide a link. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:00, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
How? Hulkster1 (talk) 02:24, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
Ah, I found it. Odd. I couln't see it earlier. It is at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Nathaniel Moreau. Here is how to make a link. For example: Chair. I made the word chair into a link by putting two square brackets around each side, like this: Chair.
As for Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Nathaniel Moreau, please find more and better references. Please read Wikipedia:The answer to life, the universe, and everything. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:30, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

I knew it would be the references Hulkster1 (talk) 02:32, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

I just checked Google and Google news and I see very, very little on him. The subject has a very low chance of becoming an article. I suggest waiting for a year or two and checking for sources then.
When considering an article subject, do two things: Check to see if the article already exists. Check for notability. In other words, check of lots and lots of good references. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:36, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I try to go for the actors that are not the most popular around, : thanks Hulkster1 (talk) 03:10, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Your RFA

100+ supports and no opposes after just two days? Bet you wish you ran years ago... I wouldn't normally offer congratulations to a new admin several days before they get the mop, but in this case, I think it's safe to say you'll be gracing our ranks very soon. It couldn't have happened to a better candidate, and I'm including myself in that statement. Yunshui  09:38, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

  • I've added Anna to the 100 list, we can update at the end of the RfA. I ended with 131 supports myself. Of course I had 34 opposes. Anna is a much kinder and likable person than I am, however. I won't jump the gun on congratulations just yet, but I am gratified by the community's overwhelmingly positive response. Dennis Brown | | © | WER 12:28, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Ok, perhaps I am dense, but I just NOW got all the comments regarding your username, due to KW's question. That is pretty funny. And no, obviously that isn't a username violation. Dennis Brown | | © | WER 13:39, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
You should meet her friend Vivian, Dennis. Vivian Agra; usually goes by Vi. Or how about their drinking buddy Melanie Tan II? Or her boyfriend, Randy Beefgrass (I'm really reaching now)... Yunshui  13:46, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
That went completely over my head. :)
Thank you, Dennis. I am totally verklempt at the response. But, there's still a long way to go, and I'm expecting a flurry of opposes based on my answers.
As for my username, I think User:Kiefer.Wolfowitz was just trying to make me relax with an easy question and a bit of lightheartedness. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:10, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
Actually, my middle name is "light hearted". :) Your name (insofar as it is intended to wink "aphrodisiac" rather than being Slavic) would be inappropriate for a minor. Kiefer.Wolfowitz 16:24, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, always a good strategy. My confidence is (and always has been) quite high. To me, a good admin is one that has an even temper, is willing to stick their neck out to do the right thing, and is willing to take a little abuse when others call them out for doing what they believe is the right thing. That is one of the more frustrating things about being an admin, being screamed at for doing what you know in your heart is "the right thing", often by people that simply have a philosophical difference with another editor and want them blocked or banned at any cost, even if unrelated to the current discussion. I also believe there is no such thing as a "good admin", there are only admins that strive to be one. Once you quit taking risks and quit trying to do what is in your heart and simply "get along with other admin", you should hand in the admin bit. This is why I hold independence, the ability to overcome peer pressure and take a stand, as the highest quality in adminship. Dennis Brown | | © | WER 15:35, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Well said, Dennis, and that's why you ARE a good admin, so are others I would know to ask, but I am happy that I didn't need one for a while, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:23, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

I'm uncomfortable with this talk of ranks, as if admin is some kind of promotion, the corollary of which is that the rest of of us are just unworthy plebs. But maybe that's just me. Eric Corbett 23:22, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

  • Just page stalking. I uneasily agree with you Eric, in the sense that I recognise that WP is to an extent, perhaps inevitably due to its structure, prone to a hierarchy of "power" whether real or perceived. That is why I am so enthusiastic that Anna may become an admin. She has done a great job on personal ego-management (just my perception), so would be gold as an admin. She is the kind of arbitrator whom I would trust. Simple. Irondome (talk) 23:34, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
I take your point, but it's not about "ego-management". Eric Corbett 01:24, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
I think it is Eric. I think it is probably the alpha and omega of all the admin problems we face, as individual eds and the advancement of the project as a whole. Admins should be cool, and leave their WP alter-ego in the drawer. Too many dont. Also it may be the germ-cell of WPs' unbidden sense of heiraracy that is so apparant in some admin decisions. Just a thought. Irondome (talk) 01:35, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
So Irondome, curious, what do you see comprises "all the admin problems we face". (Extra points for specificity. Thanks!) Ihardlythinkso (talk) 04:31, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
Hold that thought Eric. Bed. Will be back. Irondome (talk) 05:15, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
(Not Eric who asked.) Ihardlythinkso (talk) 05:40, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
Dear Eric: Here in China I am surrounded by hundreds of millions of farmers. I hold them in the highest esteem because they are the producers. At Wikipedia, I am a simple farmer, and will always be one. A few tools will never take me out of the field and into the shop. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:15, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
I wasn't commenting on anything you'd said Anna, but to what Yunshui said. Eric Corbett 01:24, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
I had intended to imply rank, rather than rank, but apologies for the poor choice of words. Yunshui  10:21, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
I read the first meaning, Yunshui, especially when the word "gracing" is used. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:03, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
  • I had a feeling right when I saw her RfA going live that it'd hit WP:200. It hasn't quite yet, but there's still a few days left until it's over, so I suspect it probably will. Kurtis (talk) 07:43, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Speaking of farmers, you kept popping into my head when I finally put this parable onto paper, Anna. I thought you might like it as well. WP:Farmer Brown. And yes, I gratuitously used my alter ego's name. ;-) Dennis Brown |  | © | WER 15:38, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

Question

Since it's not related to admin. tasks and shouldn't have any influence on anyone's !vote, I thought I'd ask here. I had not drawn the correlation between your chosen user name and Aphrodisiac, so I ask here: Do you prefer to be referred to as "she", "he", "they", or simply by the user name? It's not a question that requires an answer in the least, simply a "for my own edification" type of thing. Cheers and best, — Ched :  ?  01:43, 19 June 2013 (UTC)

I think you are developing a male fan base here Anna/Andrew/The Anna collective/Anna. That was just a lighthearted comment everybody :) Irondome (talk) 01:49, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I once made the mistake of seeing a "multi-colored" user name, noticed a painting of a female subject on their user page, and assumed the user was "female" (wrongly) .. and while my mind still wants to view "Anna" as "female" .. On the Internet.... — Ched :  ?  01:55, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
Although I do like to protect my privacy, and do enjoy half the people thinking I'm male, please use "she", "her", Anna, Annie, Queen Anna, Your Royal Queenness Without Whom We'd All Perish, etc. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:08, 19 June 2013 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)Wao, Anna. I always thought you were female, why people would think you are male? Anyways I whish I had a lot of fans chasing me hahhaha.... I realize now the Aphrodisiac thing... I knew I was missing something with your username. Mmmmm, interesting... Miss Bono (zootalk) 13:46, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Personally, I think that gender shouldn't matter, but it does make a refreshing change to see people assume that an editor is female; all too often, even with no hints about gender at all, editors are often assumed to be male. Head down to the noticeboards and it's usually possible to find a thread where some editor is described as "he", "him" &c even if they're a newbie who's not known socially to the rest of the community, they've not made any edits hinting at personal identity &c. I try to rephrase sentences to avoid using gendered pronouns, but maybe that's an extreme stance.
Anyway, back on track. I'm a member of the Anna Frodesiak fanclub, not because of innuendo or gender or personal identity &c., but because Anna is such a helpful editor. bobrayner (talk) 14:55, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
I never got the hang of the whole xe &c thing. It would be like converting to [[duodecimal]ism. It would be good, and I actually wrote to the dictionary people after this discussion asking about a gender-neutral pronoun. Anyway, unless I know otherwise, I always refer to other editors as "he" because that's what I remember from school. It's just easier. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:46, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

Your rfa

I have seen that there is a rfa nomination of you. Your rfa nomination has been a source of inspiration for me and keep up your splendid work. Suri 100 (talk) 04:23, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

  • RfA?? Why the hell is there an RfA for you? What on earth do you mean by not having become and admin long ago? Oh well, at least your error is being put right now. One of the most welcome RfAs I've seen for a long time. JamesBWatson (talk) 13:01, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

Thank you both. You know, all this praise is going to make me simply impossible. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:27, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

Yes, that's our hidden agenda: the plan is that you become so impossible that we have good grounds for having you desysopped right away. We came up with this plan when we saw what a WP:SNOW RfA it was, so that just voting "oppose" was not going to stop you. JamesBWatson (talk) 08:24, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
  • I predicted very early on in the discussion that your RfA would hit WP:200 — and by the looks of things, you've got a pretty damn good shot at it! Good for you. :-) Kurtis (talk) 07:40, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
JamesBWatson: I knew it! Now, remember, you must stand when reading my posts. :) (Oh no! It's begun and I can't help it! It's diabolical!) :)
I think that is impossible. And if not one single more !vote comes in, I'll still be pleased as punch. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:37, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

Before and After. The page typically receives only a moderate number of page views (check views), perhaps its completion will facilitate it being read and used more. Northamerica1000(talk) 01:15, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

It's wonderful! The page hits will go through the roof, and I've never seen anyone work so fast. The big before and after to look at is your impact on these food articles as a whole. Compare the results of your work to how it was before and the transformation is amazing. Soon, I will have to stand when reading your posts. But, you'll be standing when reading my posts, you know, because of the whole Queen Anna thing. Hmmm, but we have these comfy chairs and all. And we do look a bit silly standing. Okay, let's sit down. Tea? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:37, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld works at the stand-up desk in his office as he goes over his opening remarks prior to a Pentagon press briefing on Oct. 30, 2003.
Actually, some people like to stand when working, e.g. Donald Rumsfeld (see picture right)! Your comment above reminded me about this, which I learned about on the news some years ago. Beyond this hopefully humorous anecdote, thanks for the kind words, and also, good luck at your RfA. Northamerica1000(talk) 15:30, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

Very pleased to see so much heartfelt support for a potential admin :) it is an indication of how many Eds you have impressed with contributions, conversations, and that wicked user page. Any help ever, just whistle. I would be very glad to assist. Being a chronic Wikipage stalker I always keep an eye out anyway! Cheers Irondome (talk) 01:42, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
Thank you indeed. Actually, it may be an indication of how many editors I didn't end up at odds with by working on controversial articles. I've avoid those articles, so kudos to those who really work in those hard areas.
I will whistle so much that eating crackers will become out of the question (or vice versa). :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:54, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

RFA question 10

For the second and third examples, did you mean "edits unrelated to the organization" or "related"? Peter James (talk) 09:56, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi James. Thanks for pointing that out. I did mean "unrelated" and I read Users who adopt such usernames, but who are not editing problematically in related articles, should not be blocked. Instead, they should be gently encouraged to change their username. I did miss something, though. I've been a bit foggy from lack of sleep, so I'm not certain if I added this then somehow took it out again on my PC: I would ask them to change or abandon the prohibited account, then ask them if it's okay to softblock their old corporate account after creation of their new one. I did this before about six months ago and it worked out fine. I asked for this so it would tie up loose ends and I wouldn't have to monitor (because the likelihood is that they represent a company). The editor was happy. All went well. I have no idea how to dig up that edit but will try. If any stalkers here remember that, please provide a link. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:43, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
I asked because names such as these could be purely coincidental - both have multiple unrelated uses, and don't intrinsically imply organisations. WP:UAA/I is clearer on this - "particular company, organization, group, product, or website". To me, "not editing problematically in related articles" means cases where the edits are related to a use of the name, but are otherwise not problematic, or where the name is unlikely to arise separately or clearly suggests shared use (such as "RotherhamUnitedCommunitySportsTrust", "RegentCollege" or "Wikipedia"). Peter James (talk) 12:27, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
That makes sense. The link you just gave says "indisputably names (including acronyms) of companies" (plural), so when there's a second company with that acronym, it is a bit fuzzy that the acronym may no longer represent the first company. Actually, I think you're right. The policies and guidelines sure are tricky sometimes. It's funny how they start with a "not permitted", follow with a "however", and end with a "so it's probably okay". They should start with a "sometimes not permitted". I very much appreciate you pointing this out to me and have adjusted my thinking accordingly. If approved for admin, absolutely any new action will be done under counsel so I am sure to be reading things correctly. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:02, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
This is a very wise approach to new actions. The Microcosmographia Academica has related advice; "Every public action which is not customary, either is wrong, or, if it is right, is a dangerous precedent. It follows that nothing should ever be done for the first time." --Demiurge1000 (talk) 15:03, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
That advice is wise indeed. And I will really look for an overwhelming reason before worrying about it. I will monitor for a while and then drop it from the watchlist. After all, if it turns out the account is promoting an org, then it will probably be discovered in the future by someone else anyhow. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:26, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
Thank you!

Thank you everyone for your wonderful support. I have never received so much praise and attention in all my life. I am very touched and quite overwhelmed.

I will send out some talk page posts soon, but right now I am very tired and really need a bit of a break. Despite being lots of fun, it really did keep me up nights.

When I return, I would like to lay as low as possible for a while. I hope that is okay. I really think I ought to start with admin actions that involve as little user interaction as possible. Of course, I will resume my regular, non-admin duties that involve plenty of user interaction.

I will avoid matters where I have to judge who is right and wrong until I seem better suited to it. I know I am a bit of a softy, but will try to toughen up.

Please take the 200 thing with a grain of salt because I know turnout is much higher than it used to be. Plus, I've always edited in non-controversial areas so I haven't accumulated adversaries. (Much respect to the unsung heroes who edit in those difficult areas.)

Again, I will be cautious and take baby steps. I am aware of the sense responsibility needed and am taking things very seriously.

I will be in contact with my many new mentors when I return to seek feedback on my numerous, flawed RfA answers, and to set a course for becoming a productive admin.

Thank you again everyone. You made my week. I promise I won't let you down.

Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:05, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Two Days...and a question

There is two days left till your RFa ends, and let me be clear, I am stunned with shock and awe as to how things have turned out. I support you but I do have a question for you that may classify as very important for you: My question of concern for you is that you lack of experience using admin tools in which you have none, are you aware of the rollback tool that admins and some editors are given? or even Blocking someone? I trust you will answer these questions with accuracy and honesty, as you have always been for the years you have been on Wikipedia. Best Wishes Prabash.Akmeemana 21:46, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Hello, my friend. Yes, I have rollback, and have been using it for years. It's a great tool and I use it with caution. I'm also aware of blocks.
If approved, I will start with some very serious hand-holding. I will drive the admins crazy with stupid questions like:
  • "...I want to take XXXX action and this is the policy I think will justify it, so do you think it's okay?..."
  • "...Are you absolutely sure?..."
  • "...Okay, I did it. Was it okay?..."
  • "...How am I doing?..."
  • "...I know it's the exact same as before, but I'm double checking. Are you sure it will be okay?..."
  • "...Did I do anything wrong?..."
  • "...Okay, if I do lots more that are identical, will it be okay?..."
  • "...Did you check the last group I did? Were they okay? ..."
  • "...With all actions in this area, do you think I have the hang of it and am ready to continue independently?..."
  • "...Okay, I want to take this new action and this time, this policy that seems to apply. Is my reasoning okay? Are you sure? Double sure? Now, what about......."
That is what admins can expect from me in the beginning and when I start to enter new areas. I will drive them bonkers, and just before they're ready check into the puzzle factory and sorely regret supporting my RfA, I will be off and running, sharing the load, and they will change their mind.
Safe, sound actions are what you can expect. I promise. Baby steps. Slow, careful expansion of scope. Bags of feedback requests. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:32, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
For what it's worth, most admins are already bonkers, meaning you will fit in just fine :) --kelapstick(bainuu) 23:51, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
  • I drove Drmies crazy the first few months. Additionally, James B. Watson, DGG and Boing! said Zedebee were always close by, even dropping in regularly to ask why I did something to be sure, and to correct a couple of mistakes. Many others were patient and helped. Most admin were willing to help when I asked. I don't think I made a single block in my first 30 days, and I regularly patrol ANI, so I understand being cautious. I'm utterly confident that Anna will have plenty of help and adapt quickly. Dennis Brown |  | © | WER 00:26, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Or, more simply, WP:AGF. Trust that these successfully nominated people will use the tools in an appropriate manner and that they will seek advice/accept revision without drama. After all, the RfA process is tough - too tough, arguably - and they have got the tools because the consensus was thus. If the consensus changes then that will emerge. I really, really doubt that there is any issue here. I've seen Anna ask loads of things of loads of people and I've also seen her apply what she has learned over the years. She is a class act and indeed the very fact that she has often dithered about offers to nominate etc because she doesn't like drama is perhaps the most significant underlying rationale for giving her the tools. - Sitush (talk) 00:37, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
  • I dont understand any issues with tools with this Ed. The only concern may be that some Eds may try to push their luck under the clueless perception that Anna is laid back re. discipline and sanctions. It has been a subtextual concern with me, and maybe a few other supporters. I mentioned it in an additional question. The first weeks may be tough, and some editors may try to push boundaries, but I am sure the combination of Annas potentially vile temper, which very rarely she shows a glimpse of, and the support of the community will soon chastise such malcontents :) Irondome (talk) 00:49, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Dennis never drove me crazy. You'll be fine, Anna. In case of doubt email Bbb23 (he doesn't need sleep) or ask Writ Keeper. And it'll be quite a relief when you can stop playing nice to everyone and get real. Remember, your quorum as a beginning admin is three blocks a day for the first three months. You start collecting the regular fee after six months or 1000 blocks, whichever comes first. Blocks made with your sock account are counted separately. OKeyes is keeping score. Wheel warring is not allowed until after your fifth ANI thread, and you get bonus points for blocking any one of the first 100 editors who voted for your RfA. Drmies (talk) 01:06, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

Why I supported Anna

Wikipedia Community depicted in the form of a galaxy, Anna Frodesiak and the admins represent the centeral bulge while users like me represent the outer arms.

I have spent my time deciding whether I should write this or not and I guess I made up my mind to do so, I was stunned by how many supporters you got 36 hours it was amazing. I quickly rushed through your contributions to find something "not right" after hours of digging I found none, even if I did I would still support and that's what I did. I decided to see how it goes and wait it out, and to my surprise I saw 200+ users voting in support for you, and I was thinking how you gained the respect of over 200 people in such ways it seemed as if you got the entire Wikipedia community to befriend you, and everywhere I go here people know about you heck even the users on IRC know about you, this is one reason why I nominated you. Secondly is your creation of 1400+ articles is Jaw-Dropping and awe aspiring, I am sure that I have some catching up to you and it makes me think of how small I am in the Wikipedia community, think of it as one star in a large Galaxy or me as a speck of sand in an enormous beach. When an editor like you has made 1400 articles you are bound to be the large rock amongst a billion specks of sand or the central bulge in a Galaxy, This is the second reason on why I supported you. Thirdly, are your bold actions on SPI investigations, most notably is the OneMadScientist issue, who accused several users as sock-puppets of a certain sock-master (Names not described due to privacy issues) you made yourself clear and supported the right people, leading to a long term sock abuser to an indef-block. Your works here are outstanding and I think you got this in the bag, there are 3 hours and 45 minutes left in your RFa and I'm making this bold and clear: you are about to become a sysop! //MastCells

importScript('User:MastCell/user-rights.js');

//for RFPP (confusing but handy, read the manual)

Per your interest in food-related articles, here's a new one I created, per a suggestion at WP:FARM. Several sources are available, so feel free to improve it, if you have the time, interest, etc. Northamerica1000(talk) 15:54, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Poultry plucking machine
Fantastic!!! I love it. These are the real bread and butter articles. It immediately reminded me of the revolting poultry plucking machines we have over here. Did you ever see off-center laundry on a spin-dry cycle? That's what this sounds like.
So, obtaining a image of this harvester is next. Writing to a manufacturer has a good shot. I'll help with that if you want. Search the word "dear" at User:Anna Frodesiak/Junkbox 1 to find some letters.
Trivia: The inventor of the chicken harvester was suddenly inspired while going through a carwash. Something just clucked, I mean clicked. Kidding. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:39, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
Hey, feel free to ask a manufacturer for images; I likely won't pursue this option in the near future. I like the notion though, for future reference and consideration. Also, I like how you named one of your pages "Junkbox," because it just sounds funny. "Check out my junkbox page." Lastly, another editor, User:Drmies, very recently expanded the article, which is much appreciated, and was also quite unexpected. It's now no longer a stub! Well done! I do hope the Defence of Wikipedia's gain is not Natural History's loss - you have been the most inspiring of content editors, and I do hope you'll go on being so. Chiswick Chap (talk) 08:58, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. Actually, you're the one who's inspiring. I love your list of camouflage methods and cleaning symbiosis and so many others too. Plus, you've got those nice green crosses everywhere. Me? Ok, Anna... never mind. :). Again, I am so sorry for the question. can you forgive me?... Ms.Bono(zootalk) 12:51, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Is this thing on?

I noticed there hasn't been much action at [3] and thought I might recommend dropping by WP:RFPP, which is a very good place to start helping out. Dennis Brown |  | © | WER 16:26, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

  • No, send her to ANEW. That'll season her nicely. Drmies (talk) 17:35, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
    • Oh yeah, good idea. WP:ANEW is a good place to wear the shiny off that new block button. Or just go to WP:ANI, yell "boomerang" a lot and block anyone that files a report. Best way I know to remove the backlog. Dennis Brown |  | © | WER 17:47, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Don't worry, folks. I'll get started. I've had a bit of a busy week here, and the coming weekend will be busy too. At least you'll be able to say that I didn't screw anything up during the first seven days. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:37, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
I figured as much, which is why I recommended RFPP. Each case only takes 3 to 5 minutes (sometimes longer, or you can pass on that one) once you know the format. Dennis Brown |  | © | WER 00:44, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
I'm monitoring as many requests at RFPP as I can. I did this before, but not enough. I've got my cheat-sheet of considerations and criteria beside me and am watching outcomes. After the weekend, I would love a back-and-forther at IRC with whoever's around if that's okay. Just a bit of discussion over a RFPP case or two to see if my rationale is on track, and then a walk-through of an actual protection. I'm one of those people who don't quite get it when reading instruction manuals, but are a quick study when getting hands-on experience. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:06, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
Just start with the most obvious stuff, get used to the templates and such. No biggie, if you make a mistake (unlikely) it can be fixed. You worry too much. Protection is pretty straight forward: Full protect to keep from blocking. Semi protection with socks or when TWO or more IPs the problem. If one IP is the problem, a block is usually the better solution since it allows everyone to keep editing. That isn't admin mojo, just editorial experience. You know this stuff, quit fretting. :p~ Dennis Brown |  | © | WER 00:55, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
Feel free to test out the protection, deleting, reviewing, revdel, and restoring on User:Kelapstick/Anna's test page. --kelapstick(bainuu) 00:58, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
There is a backlog at WP:RFPP, time to get to it. Best kind of practice is when you can cherry pick a bit. Dennis Brown |  | © | WER 01:22, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

Account question?

I have some questions. I had to create a new account since I cannot access my former one, I lost access to my e-mail (or I never put one, I don't know). So my questions are: how can I recuperate my old account? will I have problems for having two accounts? Is it possible to merge them? Thanks for your answer. Mr. 02 (talk) 04:16, 30 June 2013 (UTC) The account is Arthur Water .

  • Stalking Anna's page here, but accounts can not be merged, the software doesn't allow it. That account only had 134 edits, so there isn't much lost to abandoning it. Really isn't any way to recapture it either as the only way to prove it was your was....email. Best to just move forward with the new account and be sure to enable email to an account that isn't dependent on any ISP, like gmail, hotmail or yahoo mail. Dennis Brown |  | WER 16:44, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
Thanks Dennis. I was just searching for answers when you stalked by. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:52, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
No problem. I don't want to discourage you from looking for answers, I still do regularly, but that one isn't in a single policy and not a commonly asked question so not necessarily easy to track down, thus I figured I would just help out. Dennis Brown |  | WER 17:23, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
I'm glad you helped. I will remember for next time. Thanks, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:31, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

I'll check when I can - I'm about to go on all-day bus journey(s). Article needs heavy editing, but frankly I can't be bothered. Since Wikipedia was unblocked in China (2-3 years ago), various bodies see it as an opportunity for free advertising. Florid language is the norm, as is poor English. John of Cromer (talk) mytime= Mon 07:41, wikitime= 06:41, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

The text may not last long enough to be heavily edited. I really think it's a copy paste job.
I've been using Wikipedia here in China for many, many years. Bodies in nations all over the planet try to use it for free advertising. And I don't agree that florid language and poor English are the norm, but they do occur. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:46, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Well, maybe not the norm, but certainly a lot of articles cry out for overly-detailed. You must know then that universities are two a penny - there are probably more than 10 in Ningbo alone - and their qualifications generally are worthless, either because they are in some useless subject with no job prospect, such as "logistics", or because whatever result emerges, Mummmy will buy a better one.
[In China 9 years, in the south mainly, but only in Haikou ("the corruption capital of China" someone called it once, and that's saying something) for holiday.] I'm pretty sure wikipedia was unblocked only about 2009. John of Cromer (talk) mytime= Mon 17:56, wikitime= 16:56, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Well, I have to disagree with you. I happen to love China a great deal. We're all entitled to our views. It's a question of where we present them. Maybe we should leave it at that. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:07, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi,Anna

hi Anna, sorry for deleting your words,I‘m a student in NBU,and I found that the description of Ningbo university is not complete and it is kind of out of date。Yes I did use a software to translate, because my english is not very good,so wud you like to help me improve it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Patrick8787 (talkcontribs) 12:35, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi Patrick. I don't think you deleted my words. I deleted your words, and I'm sorry about that, but I felt I had to.. You added a great deal of content that was very hard to read. Per Wikipedia:TRANSLATE#How to translate, I removed it because "...Machine translation often produces very low quality results. Wikipedia consensus is that an unedited machine translation, left as a Wikipedia article, is worse than nothing. This is mainly because translation templates have links to machine translations built in automatically, so all readers should be able to access machine translations easily...." I really don't want to translate such a large amount of text. If you would like to, please do it on your computer, and when it's ready, add it to the article with the source as a references.
Anyway, you are very, very welcome here. Please don't feel bad that I removed your contribution. I'm here if you need me. (I'm in Haikou, so we're probably online at the same time.) Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:24, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
hi,Anna, thanks for your suggestion. It was the first time to edit on Wiki,I've written some introduction myself ,you can check that. And I don't know how to add a source I mean where I can find it?It's great to know you are in Haikou. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Patrick8787 (talkcontribs) 14:39, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

FA articles

Hello, Anna. Do you know anything about FA articles?? Ms.Bono(zootalk) 18:01, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

  • Miss Bono means if you know about FA quality, and how stringent it is. Also, how to get articles to FA. TheOriginalSoni (talk) 18:21, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Very stringent, but very rewarding. I just did my first FA, really in support of Eric Corbett who took the lead on the article, Sunbeam Tiger. Since FA is supposed to be "the best of the best", or put another way, good enough to be published on paper, then the standard is understandably our highest. In particular, the sources need to be unquestionably reliable and consistent. Very little will get past an FA review that isn't properly worded and verified. Good experience, but tough. Getting a WP:GA is often the first step, although not required. We went direct to FA with the Tiger article after spending a tremendous amount of time insuring that the info was accurate and complete. What article did you have in mind? Dennis Brown |  | WER 18:43, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi, Dennis Brown. This is the article. Thanks for your thoughts :) Ms.Bono(zootalk) 18:49, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Opinion - I'm not sure that it is required, but you might take a look at how we did the citations in Sunbeam Tiger. That is a bit to convert, but it makes the article easier to maintain when you use for formal citation styles. I also noted a lot of copyvio notices in the hidden comments, 8 of them, that need sorting out. I didn't verify if the copyvios are still in the article, but you have to make sure that none exist, including any improper paraphrasing.

I notice it is a bit verbose. I see facts that are included and sourced but I'm not sure why they are important. Like her older brother that lives in Australia. Why does it matter where he lives and why does it take two sources? Things like that. The level of detail throughout might be a bit more than is needed since the goal is to summarize why she is a notable person. I think it is a very good topic and there is a lot to work with. If I had to give any advice (and I'm not an FA expert, btw) I would say work on making it more concise, combining some sentences to make it flow better, and trimming out some of the less critical facts to make the meat of the article more accessible. I haven't dug in detail, but those are the issues that struck me at first glance.Dennis Brown |  | WER 19:06, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Dennis Brown, thanks for the review. Can you point out which are the citations that need work. And do you think the brother information has to be deleted? Also as Soni asked, can you point someone who could guide me through the improving and cleaning of the article or would you like to help? Ms.Bono(zootalk) 19:14, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Take a look at the style of that linked article first. It is a whole different way to cite articles than you are likely used to, but after I have done it on a few articles, I really prefer it as it is easier once you get used to it. Dennis Brown |  | WER 19:37, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi Dennis, Miss Bono asked me to respond to your comments on Ali Hewson, since I'm the main writer of it. Regarding the citation style, I recognize that a lot of editors use the style of the article you pointed to. But a lot of editors use various other styles, and I've taken over 40 articles to FA or GA with the style I've used here ... but I haven't been to FAC in the last year or so, so I'd have to take a look and see if the informal requirements for citing have changed there. Regarding "copyvio" in the cites, you misunderstood what I was trying to do there. A lot of U2 fans have copy-and-pasted newspaper stories about the group and associated people into posts on U2 fansites such as atu2.com. So even after the stories have disappeared from the newspaper websites or gone behind paywalls (and aren't available on archive.org either), you can still read them online. But we can't visibly link to the fansite versions in our article, because that would be a copyright violation of the newspapers. However it's convenient for us editors to be able to look at the fansite versions, because then we can double-check what they say. So my solution was to put the fansite url in a comment so it wouldn't be visible to readers, but so that editors could see where an online version was, and label the comment "copyvio" as a warning to other editors not to enable it. This is the first article I tried this approach in ... but as an admin, if you think even that level of inclusion isn't kosher, then the comments should be yanked out. Regarding the level of detail, that's partly a matter of taste. I like to write comprehensive articles that become the best online treatment of the subject, and in some cases, the best treatment anywhere. In terms of the brother, I think his existence and that he is older should definitely be in the article; that he lives in Australia could be removed (although to me it indicates that there is an adventurous, wandering spirit in her family). Wasted Time R (talk) 13:17, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
Don't confuse my admin bit with my observations, they are unrelated. My limited observation of the FA process is that these questions will be asked at an FA, so they are better asked before. Anything that will cause confusion by an FA reviewer needs to be cleared up before it is submitted. It will be picked part mercilessly at FA, after all, so it is better to view it with rigid expectations of perfection before submitting, if one is wanting to attract people to review and support it. As for the level of detail, my thinking is that some of that prose can be combined a bit to make it more fluid and some of it isn't central to the subject matter. Often, single sentences get added with single sources, one at a time, which fits WP:V well, but the prose isn't as fluid or concise as it could be. I don't say this to be mean, but because I know the standard at FA is rather high and it is supposed to represent "the best of the best" so even misplaced commas and the tiniest of things should be addressed fully. For example, I haven't submitted 1950s American automobile culture for FA because I know it is miles away from FA quality, even if it looks like it might be ready on the surface. The sources are very good, but they aren't impeccable, which is what I would expect for an FA. Again, I'm just one editor with my own opinion, and everyone is free to ignore it if they don't find it useful. Dennis Brown |  | WER 13:45, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
Hey Dennis,
I am currently trying to work in the article-space and considering to get some articles to GA. (Also higher, if possible) Could you suggest someone who could guide me through it? I'm currently hesistant of doing it alone because of a lack of experience in the GA/FA department, and a peer review takes way too long.
TheOriginalSoni (talk) 19:09, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Without more info, I would say find people who do reviews to help, or people in the corresponding projects that cover that topic. Or in the article history, people that have done a great deal of work. Dennis Brown |  | WER 19:38, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Hello Anna

Hi. I'm new here but have edited as an IP for a while and I have noticed all your wonderful work and now see you are an administrator, CONGRATULATIONS, I think you will be a most excellent administrator just as you have been a most excellent editor.

Anyhow, I was wondering if you could help me with a referencing issue. If one is referencing more than once from the same reference can you make it so it links to the one listed reference or must the reference be duplicated in the ref section?.

I hope you understand my question. My Best Regards to you Anna --The One Master Of Puppets (Talk) 07:54, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

Picture Issue

Hello agian,

I know you are very bussy with the admin stuff, but... I was wondering if you could take a look anywhere to see if you can find some free pictures of The Clarence Hotel's facade?? I'd appreciate that. Thanks in advance :) Ms.Bono(zootalk) 15:45, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Is it any of these? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:02, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Can you see this pic? It's the only other one at Commons.
I cannot follow links that aren't in Wikipedia (no commons or other wikis). The pictures here were taken too far form the facade. See this. it is an article I am working on... The one I need the picture for. Ms.Bono(zootalk) 18:01, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
I'm not sure I understand. Anyway, can you see the one in this thread? And can you see any of these, which are probably exactly what you want:
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 18:55, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Oh, sorry i haven't expalined myself. I have not Internet access I only can surf in Wikipedia (www.wikipedia.org). I told you that a few month ago with the Morleigh and Ali Hewson's picture stuff. So I guess (cannot follow the links due to my Internet restrictions) you have found a few of The Clarence pictures, can you upload the one you like the most or all of them (as you prefer)?? Thanks, and sorry for my bad explanation before (English is not my native language, I think it still sucks) ps: I do see the picture you add from Commons. (This is a link Theroadislong gave me a few moth ago for me to see Commons pictures cuz I dont have access to that site http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Search&search=the%20edge.jpg&fulltext=Search&profile=images&redirs=1) Ms.Bono(zootalk) 19:04, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Here you go. I'm not even sure this is the right place. Let me know. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:19, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, THANKS!!, I've never been in Ireland nor even in Dublin or The Clarence but I think that's the place. Do you think that's the best pict for an infobox? I would like your opinion. I am in the process of creating a new article. I am nervous and stressed :O. Is there any other picture where the hotel it is shown in a straight angle or pictures from the inside?? (bad english, sorry, it's something that slips through my hands ) Ms.Bono(zootalk) 19:23, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
I think this is the right place because the letter style is the same. But, I think it's the back door or something. Anyway, I like the pic you already have for the infobox with this further down in the article. Also, there are some others at Flickr I can get, but I have to go to bed now. I'll try again soon. Don't be stressed and don't worry about your English. You're doing great! Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:31, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Ok, thank you and sorry for so much bothers! Have good dreams (not trolls or vandals in there, just [edit] =] ). I'll try not to be stressed. Bon soir for you (Here is 3pm)! :) Ms.Bono(zootalk) 19:39, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

hi topic "Thalassery biryani" You have tagged the topic for copy right violation

The topic is about a dish called "Thalassery biriyani". -You have tagged the topic for copy right violation The dish is a popular one in the Malabar region (North Kerala) in India. The ingredients of the dish remains the same weather you see it in Wikipedia or in another website. It is not possible to change the ingredients of a recipe of this dish so as to put it in wikipedia. I hope you understand. The dish is is a example of the Arab-Mughal influence in the local culture. I hope the explanation is okay. Thanks

I don't think you understand. You are not allowed to copy paste content from another website to Wikipedia. That is a copyright violation. You see, that website owns that content. You added: Normal biriyani preparation uses Basmati Rice ... draining after cooking. That is a really long sentence that is totally copy pasted from http://www.mysingaporekitchen.com/2012/11/thalassery-biriyani.html
Again, please rewrite it in your own words, and do the same for any other content you've added that you copy pasted. Thank you, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:58, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Okay I got it let me edit it

Aethiopia

Thank you for not locking the article Aethiopia and suggesting that I try to reason with the troll who wants it to say the "Ancient Ethiopians thought they were descended from Perseus and Andromeda" because he read it on this page: African girl's names (2010 version from wayback machine). He is insisting that this source trumps everything that actually is in Strabo, Pausanius, and Josephus on the subject, that he removed. But when I tried to engage him on the talk page, he just began screaming that I am a racist and a supremacist (Nobody even knows what race I am, and I am not against any races, just sloppy scholarship!) This is the sort of nightmare problem I'd hoped I'd never have to see. I realize it is a subject where people who have not made a study of it are reluctant to tread, but couldn't you just lock the article and deal with the troll? Cheers, Til Eulenspiegel /talk/ 18:18, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Well, I don't want to see anyone saying supremacist or troll, and I can't sort out who's right because I don't know about classical Greece and Rome. Hopefully someone else will weigh in at the talk page. I posted at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Classical Greece and Rome#Aethiopia to get some eyes on the page. You could do that at Project Greece (or Rome if there is one). There are other avenues if all else fails, but I would start with that and try to get some rough consensus. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 18:40, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
I was hoping one glance at the "sources" the new editor is using for their claims (like the one I linked above) would have made it a no-brainer. Also, I only called them a troll here, after they called me a racist and a supremacist (for what, disagreeing that the "Ancient Ethiopians" believed in Perseus and Andromeda?) I believe the word "troll", while not a pretty word, indeed enjoys some currency on wp for just this sort of behaviour. Til Eulenspiegel /talk/ 19:01, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
I do understand. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:05, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

No problem at all. Scouts would be perfect for the job. See if you can get them in uniform. Maybe show them a YouTube video. And tell them to be careful! Many thanks and best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:24, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

PKU's abbreviation

Hello! I saw your reason of reverting my edit on the page of Peking University. I'd like to explain my opinion here. I meant Beida (北大)is the Chinese abbreviation of the institution, not really a nickname. This is the same as the case of Tsinghua University which is frequently called "Tsinghua/Qinghua" for short in Chinese (or people like to call 北大清華 as a collective term for these two tertiary institutions that are generally regarded the best in mainland China). Further examples include "Jiaoda"(交大)for Jiaotong University, "Fudan"(复旦) for Fudan University, etc. I think they shouldn't be the nicknames or otherwise every Chinese universities' article should have a nickname column to add their Chinese abbreviation there.

I trust your judgement and trust that you know best. Please restore your version. No worries at all. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:04, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi Anna

I hope you are around here. I like this funny animal. My aunt is a marine biologist and taught me to love animals, she lived in Canada for a long time. In Cuba, we have this one, it is native form our country. We call it Polimita :)... Cute name ah?? Have you ever heard about them?? Ms.Bono(zootalk) 12:42, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

I love nudibranchs too, very, very much. Your snail is Polymita picta‎. I don't think it's a nudibranch, but it's very nice. I'd never heard of it before. And yes, Polymita is a great name. It would be a perfect name for a parrot. Tell your auntie she's super-cool. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:29, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
No, I don't think Polymita picta‎ is a nudibranch either. I love my aun very much. When she was here she went on a lot of expeditions and swam with sharks! :) Now she lives in Florida and she goes to do researchs in The Everglades... I will tell her you think she is super-cool next time I talk to her. I think she rocks! She swam in deep waters late at night when she was on expeditions... I whish I was that brave. You seem like a biologist :) Ms.Bono(zootalk) 13:38, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Something you might be interested in doing

Hi Anna. If you're looking for an area where you can use your tools and judgement, you may wish to consider lending a hand here which is getting backlogged. See also here. There is a drop-down of recommended closure templates for admins to use, but the vast majority of requests get declined anyway. If you do decide to help out, the best way to get up to speed on how these requests are closed is to review the way in which admins generally handle them. You can see that from some of the not yet archived ones, but perusing the archives, which is unfortunately a rather complex system, would certainly provide more insight. If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask me. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 00:16, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

TFA

Hi, Anna. I was wondering, how can I nominate U2 One Tree Hill song for TFA?? Ms.Bono(zootalk) 15:10, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

To nominate an article for TFA, you simply request it at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests or contact Bencherlite. But if you ask them nicely, maybe you can plan a few U2 related FA's to appear on consecutive days on some major anniversary? :)
TheOriginalSoni (talk) 17:15, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

I appear like an article but actually I don't want to be. When edits take long time, I just copy then erase them. But I admit, I need to do a real page so I need your help.

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Temples of Kerala may have broken the syntax by modifying 3 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 04:39, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

Hiya, no need to apologize or anything, it was more of a heads up than anything else, and your uploads were in good faith. And to be honest, these are all rules over at commons, and I'm not super familiar with the boundaries over there. I do know that the design of dolls (and most toys) are copyright protected because as far as the law is concerned, they count as art. And most contemporary doll images have ended up deleted from commons eventually. However, it's possible that some of the images you uploaded (like File:Female ball-jointed doll - 04.JPG) would be exempt. It would probably be best to ask over at commons for specific advice though. Also, it might be possible to use one or two of the images in the article here anyway, under WP:NONFREE, even if they can't be kept on commons. (Lovely dolls by the way, do you know which company they come from?) Cheers, Siawase (talk) 15:36, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

I just speedy tagged all but 04 and the trench coat. If you want to suggest one for enwp non-free, please note which one and I'll reupload to this project. They'll be gone soon, so hurry.
I don't know the company. A clue: the male has "LYNN" stamped inside the head and the female has "THEA". I'll ask the girls. They're mad about these dolls and know everything there is to know. (Of course, very soon they'll be mad about boys and these will just end up on a shelf terrifying everyone in the night.)
Again, thank you very much for alerting me to this. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 18:46, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
I think the other image you added to the article, File:Ball-jointed doll - 01.JPG, might be worth keeping on enwiki as the article otherwise lacks full body size comparison images. Siawase (talk) 19:08, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
Looks like I was too slow, do you have the original to reupload it maybe? Siawase (talk) 19:09, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
I do, and I just uploaded and added 01 to the article low res. I think I may upload to commons a closeup of the ball joint. That can't be restricted on artistic grounds. And if they named the dolls that way, then we ought to have an image of the ball joints to see what all the fuss is about. Thoughts? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:30, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
Hiya, I responded over Talk:Ball-jointed doll. Siawase (talk) 12:55, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

Time to Explain

I should explain what been going on with the Angelina Ballerina: The Next Steps article I created in 2009, I decided to let other user edited it. I login in 2013, to check article to see if there was improve. I go to the talk page and notice a topic on false information on the article, saying the Angelina Family move to mouse Mouse City, Angelina and the character were teenagers, AZ being voice Justin Beiber and Viki voice by Hilary Duff, and a episode Title Angelina and the Hiccup Cure, saying that Polly had gotten the Hiccups. Nibble29 on mention that it was vandalism. I edit the correct info on the page even cited the official page stating that Angelina is 8 and moving to the other side of Chipping Cheddar. I check the article in May and that the same person has edit the page with the same false information. I decided to report the user, the article was semi-protected till June 29. I kept checking the articles to see of there was any changes. I think you know that restmich (talk) 23:27, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Hello Anna,

Things are weird now around here. I just left for weekend and this is a mess. Soni is gone and my migraine is attacking me again.
I am trying to work in some articles and went back to EDUN (in which i was working). Prabash. made a checklist with a few topics for the improvement of the article. Anyways, the thing is if you can find a picture that describes this: Barneys may have devoted its Manhattan flagship's store windows to Edun's pre-fall collection (is one of the lines and having a picture illustrating it would be great). Thanks in advance. Ms.Bono(zootalk) 14:54, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
(talk page stalker), Miss Bono soni's departure is only the tip of the iceberg, its a part of a stream of events that occurred over the few weeks. I will fetch up a free image if possible, because Anna may be busy at the moment. Prabash.Akmeemana 15:00, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
Thanks Prabash.. For all your help. That whole stuff about Soni's departure still shocks me. Ms.Bono(zootalk) 15:09, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi! Silly question

  • Hi Anna. Hope your new role is proving ok. Its good to see others page stalking too. A silly simplistic question..How do I archive my talk page material? I think I have enough back material now to warrant this. Its no big deal, no rush at all. Kind regards! Irondome (talk) 21:52, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
There are some slightly different ways of doing it, but this is a good place to start. The basic method is not as hard as you might think - cut and paste old threads from your talkpage to somewhere like User talk:Irondome/archive 1 then add Talk archive. Navigation is easier for you and others if you add something like Archives too. If you're not familiar with templates, now is a good time to start experimenting - better than learning by trial and error in an article. You can also ask a bot to do the archiving for you - that's also covered on Help:Archiving a talk page. bobrayner (talk) 22:47, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
Really appreciate that. You are quite right. I am starting to develop article creation ideas and I urgently need to get my tech skills up to speed. Gnoming is no longer enough :) Cheers Bob! Irondome (talk) 22:51, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Anna, WOW! CHINA

Last time I was in that area was 1963.

My edit has been limited to Reference 1 in the Wikipedia article on TWA flight 800 or conclusions that can be derived from that information (which is the FINAL REPORT on four years of NTSB investigation). References 73, 74, and 75 ARE very important but they seem to have gone unremarked upon up to this point.

Ref 1. ^ a b National Transportation Safety Board (2000). "Aircraft Accident Report: In-flight Breakup Over the Atlantic Ocean Trans World Airlines Flight 800" (PDF). NTSB/AAR-00/03: p.1. Retrieved April 5, 2011.

I'm just dipping my toes (cautiously) into the editing process. I'll be adding more information as time passes.

If you do have a specific item or need further any explanation added to the article please let me know.

Respectfully,

Greg

User: Argento1985

Hello,

I just wanted to inform you that the warnings that he has dealt out to other users appear to be confusing and extreme. I feel that he should stay around Wikipedia longer before dealing out warnings to other users. This way, he will be more knowledgeable about Wikipedia and community expectations in terms of warnings, policies, and other Wikipedia:Etiquette. In the future, it would be nicer if you can please consult me before giving him countering advice. Not only does this create confusion for the user receiving the advice, but also creates unnecessary conflict when the issue can be discussed. Thanks. --JustBerry (talk) 14:45, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

It is highly inappropriate for you to intervene in that manner, in my opinion. --JustBerry (talk) 15:00, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm just trying to head off a huge quarrel, and resolve things.
Please don't remove a post I made to another editor's talk page. That's up to him to do.
I disagreed with your advice and wrote "I don't think Argento1985 should "stay out" of reporting users." I didn't feel I needed to consult with you first before writing that.
Anyway, you may be right. But, I'm inclined to raise the issue with him first. Tell him what the problem is and monitor his contributions. If he does it again, we can ask him to stop then. Does that sound okay with you? Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:08, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
Yes, sorry about the confusion. Sounds like a plan. If you need me, just message me on my talk page. I will be un-watching this page, if you don't mind. --JustBerry (talk) 15:11, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

Hello there! Well, the first thing that strikes me is the absence of references. Please read WP:42. No references = no article. I googled the name and found nothing in the news, or really in any reliable source. I have a feeling that this may not become an article. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:33, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

I have given website address. Didn't u notice? I will create reference, it is incomplete info., I know. Thanks for ur help.Svpnikhil (talk) 12:14, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

I noticed. That's his website. It's not an independent source. I don't want to see you waste your time, so I recommend that you first gather, say, 6 or 7 good media references before doing anything else with the article. Then and only then should you concern yourself with the article content. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:35, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

Dear Anna,

I request you to kindly conduct a research once again before preparing Wikipedia for Kachhawahas , as you act will disgrace the honor and sacrifice of those who died for keeping the honor of their race higher than anything else in world. You can not come to a conclusion by having 01 or 02 references of the research conducted by those who are not able enough to differentiate evens and odds . In India , making copy of famous clans specially Kshatriya is common . Many schedule tribes and classes who lived under the authorities of prominent Rajput Clans steal or copy their surnames to gain respect in outer world . There are Kachhis , Kories and others who do not belong to Rajput community copy surnames used by Rajputs in order to get social recognition . This is not only happening with Kachhawahas but other prominent Rajputs clans are also facing the same issue , like: Chauhans whose surname has been stolen by Charmarkars and others , Rathores whose name got stolen by Telies . This is a continuous practise in India .

This is the reason why the author you are talking about got confused and by conducting research based on proving his hypothesis correct any how; he concluded without proper information and research . Also , to reduce the popularity of famous races in India many organizations are working to contaminate the correct history.

As per your Wiki info , "this myth got popular in 19 th century" , but can you check why after getting victory over south India , one of the Rajput king "Raja Man singh" who were the commander-in-chief in Akbar Army left Sri lanka to invade ? The answer is , he left Sri lanka to be invaded just for the reason of giving 'Safe conduct' to Sri lanka by one of his ancestor Sri Ram in Past. When Man sing born in past and refuse to attack Srilanka in 15th century how can this can be treated as a myth and how can it get arose in 19th century.

Try to degrade our honor if anyone of you posses any information about the history of Kachhwahas.

Will get back to you with proper information , not soon but Sure . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Siddhapratap (talkcontribs) 07:55, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi Siddha. I'm so sorry, but I don't really understand what you are talking about. You posted here before: User talk:Anna Frodesiak/archive35#Kachhwaha and I was confused then too. Please explain how I can help. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:08, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
Dear Anna,
We just want to say that the information you are making visible in Wikipedia of "Kachwaha" is not relevant and this need to get rectify . Can you check the previous wikipedia of "Kachwaha" which was visible 04 or 05 years back , you will understand the difference and meaning as well.
The information about kachwaha showing currently in Wiki is not proper . You are comparing us with other S castes of India which is not true.
We will appreciate if you can help us to get the relevant data for Kachwaha. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Siddhapratap (talkcontribs) 08:48, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
I don't think I can help. It is really an area I am not familiar with. I suggest that you use the article talk page to discuss the changes you wish to make. You can also just boldly edit the article, supporting the additions with reliable sources. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:53, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

Is it possible to get the content which was published in Wikipedia 04 or 05 years back for the same topic ('Kachwaha' or 'Kachhawaha')?

Certainly. Go to the article, then look for the "history" tab. Click it. There are search options there. If you need further help, just ask. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:07, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Siddhapratap (talkcontribs) 10:10, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

Dear Anna,

We have edited the page with relevant references , kindly cross check the same for your consideration and do not allow unnecessary changes in the content.

Thanks : Siddha

Dear Anna ,

We are getting the below issue while uploading the page

There are
They eat carrots.
Paste this at the bottom of the article:
References
reflist
Click save and the references will automatically list at the bottom. Easy peasy.
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:39, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

User:Ukexpat/welcome1 is nice too, but too many extraneous links. Plus, I have a thing for centering, so its lopsidedness irks me. :)
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:39, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

A joke minnow just for you, since you stated that a trout would be in order, but aaaah...here's a minnow anyway, since you don't remember every edit you have ever performed. (This is all a joke). Liking the additional welcome links provided above, and all of the options available at Wikipedia:Welcoming committee/Welcome templates. Cheerio, Northamerica1000(talk) 09:22, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Complete Deface or not?

hello Anna I would like to see how you see the changes of this user 7 which is completely defacement of the content of Anorthosis Famagusta F.C. if you have time to check the edits of Anorthosis Famagusta F.C. the last 20 who were made by the same user, who doesnt even know that "edit" or "preview" button exists, ill be happy. I always use ref for any edit i do, look at the edits of the specific user...I didn't take any action nor reverse, absolutely nothing. ive reported several times this user for complete defacement but seriously i started to believe that he has shield on his back or something. looking forward to your observation, regards. Argento1985 09:41, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi there. You're talking about ChrisAnorthosis' edits, right? Well, I can't comment on whether or not his edits are good. But, I see you've tried to discuss things with him. He doesn't seem to want to talk very much.
The best plan is this: If he makes a change to the article that you disagree with, just revert it, asking him to discuss things at the article talk page. Start a post there and explain your reasons. He is under an obligation per WP:BRD to enter the discussion. He cannot just add the content back. If he persistently does so, he may end up blocked for disruptive editing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:21, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
well i wrote the details of my revert on his wall 8 and [heres my reasonable edit]. Argento1985 11:01, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
Okay. I probably wasn't clear enough. I'm sorry about that. I don't think he'll understand the post you left very well. Again, here's the plan better explained: Revert the edit that he added (you've already done that, so that's okay), then post at his talk page to enter or start a discussion at the article talk page which is here: Talk:Anorthosis Famagusta FC. Ask him to explain why his disputed edit should be in the article. He must say why the edit should be in the article. Others, hopefully, will join in the discussion and consensus can be reached. Good luck. I'm here to help if you need me. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:20, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
ok got it Anna, this guy doesn't check at all his own talk page, it will be much of surprise if he checks the clubs, [heres my entry] Argento1985 11:34, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
I'm happy to see that you're discussing things with him. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:13, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Block evasion

First of all I would like to thank you for protecting Ghostface Killah and blocking the IP hopper. However he is now on a new address and now trolling all my edits reverting without giving a reason and improperly tagging the article I just created for SD. I just do not know what to do about this and it is really pissing me off. STATic message me! 03:42, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Article about a weird lizard

I was swinging yesterday in my swing, and suddenly I saw "Tito", a lizard that lives in a hole in my entrance. He has a family. I named it though I am afraid of frogs and lizards. I took a photo cuz I don't know if there is already an article about it, maybe you could recognize the species. Would you help me? Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:54, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Hello

I've just stopped by to point you out this edit [9]. Shokatz (talk) 01:18, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

I have no idea what happened. Did he copy paste an old version from the rolling archive? I just asked at IRC admin channel for someone to have a look at it. Thank you for pointing that out. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:33, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
Yep. He reverted the entire page to an older version. Croats, Coup d'Etat, Abbotsford, British Columbia, Mujaddid and The Avengers: Age of Ultron are all resolved issues and already archived. See here [10]. Shokatz (talk) 01:38, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Name calling

A user comes into an article and starts name calling and reverting and you say I am doing it by responding. It is a mischievous naïve 18 year old kid playing around. He adds no value whatsoever. Hi,

I wanted to inform you that I'm creating a list of foreign language speaking editors, so that others find it much more easier to locate editors who speak a given language. It should be particularly useful to help deal with ESL editors and to help translate sources in other languages.

Hi Anna F: Just a quick note. Since you've contributed to the article collaboration user page I created in the past, just letting you know that the page has been blanked/reset, with a different focus. To review your past contributions there, just check out the page's revision history. Happy editing! Northamerica1000(talk) 13:29, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

Copyright violations

Hi ma'am! Good day, I have read your talk message and I would like to answer them out.

About the copyright violations:

  1. First, about Pinoy True Stories, the only thing I did was updating the article. The copyright violation might have been there before I have edited the article. Mostly I did was to add references for it, changed the way it was organized and some other edits, but not verbatimly copying texts from the references/websites/source.
  2. Second, about Bamboo (band), I only reverted the blanking or of the removal of all or much of the article's content. It wasn't really my intention to violate copyrights. It was purely 'unintentional'. Yes, I have copied the texts, but from a previous edit version, not from the websites or articles copied. I haven't knew that the texts I copied from the previous edit version has copyright issues.

My apologies for these. Though, it is really not my fault, but as an editor I should have saw these things. I have should have reviewed them well.--AR E N Z O Y 1 6At a l k 11:52, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

No apologies necessary. I've made the same mistake from time to time.
By the way, I went through a bunch of your edits and I see tons and tons of great content. You're really productive and a great asset to the project. Keep up the good work, my friend. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:59, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
Gee! Thanks for the compliment! :D --AR E N Z O Y 1 6At a l k 12:04, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

Reconsider

Since you mentioned the oppose rationale, i thought you'd be interested in reading my oppose in WP:Requests for adminship/Adjwilley. Pass a Method talk 01:46, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

I just read it. If you could provide diffs, that would be good. Also, isn't this canvassing? I don't want you to get in trouble for that. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:53, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Because I copied the format from Lest of All-Atlantic Hockey Teams and when I renamed the link to start the pace I only replaced 'Atlantic' instead of 'Atlantic Hockey' PensRule11385 (talk) 12:02, 28 July 2013 (CST)
