Speedy deletion nomination of BAPS Christchurch[edit]

Hello Amitkumarraut,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged BAPS Christchurch for deletion, because it appears to duplicate an existing Wikipedia article, [[:{{{article}}}]].

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Ochiwar (talk) 21:55, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Christchurch mandir, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
  • It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

Articles for creation[edit]

If you have an idea for an article, Wikipedia:Articles for creation will likely be a helpful resource for you to use rather than make the article in the article namespace. —Mikemoral♪♫ 07:00, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • [[WP:USERFY|Userfication is always an option as well. I'd also like to state that when trying to defend a page, it's never a good idea to say things such as "mind your own business" and that they have "no right to". That goes against the idea of WP:CIVIL and doesn't help you out in the slightest. If anything, that actually hurts your cause rather than helps it because that makes you seem hostile to any incoming editors that might want to help you. Hi, thanks for message. You can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~. I deleted your article because

  • it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Your article appears to be original research
  • it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced claims presented as fact include: photos of all the deities... "one of its kind" religious ceremony... ceremony was unique... All the people who attended this felt very blessed... Since then the support to BAPS has steadily increased... Rotorua currently has a big following of the faith... a dedicated priest... All the religious procedures and practices are strictly adhered to and followed by him... he is a very busy man...
  • the videos are available to purchase at the temple at a very nominal price. — we are not a sales site
  • It is no good accusing me of knowing little about your faith. I deleted the article because you did not follow our rules on referencing, notability and advertising. I see from this page that it is not the first time you have posted opinion pieces rather than encyclopaedia articles. If you want, I can sandbox the deleted text for you to improve to an acceptable standard Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:22, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on other people again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. This attack is unwarranted as explained by Jimfbleak above. As for my username: ever heard of differences between British English and US English? Many people in the US are name "Randy". In the present case, it's short for "Miranda". Please have a look at the different help and guideline/policy pages on how to write an encyclopedic article. You cannot expect WP to adapt to you, you will have to adapt to WP. Thanks. Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Jai Swaminarayan may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

deleted text[edit]

You can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~. I'll shortly post the deleted text here shortly for you to reference and improve Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:48, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, your only reference doesn't even mention the temple let alone support what you have written about it. Take a bit of time and find references that actually confirm what you are saying. Also think about adding links to other article, I've added Krishna, but the other gods will have articles too. Also, shouldn't it be "lady" rather than "lordess" for goddesses? Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:31, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough with lordess, it's not something I've come across before. I don't know whether BAPS has the information or not, what I do know is that it's not on the page you gave as your reference. If you put the wrong page, please correct it Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:43, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You confirm it by giving your references. If you don't have any, it's original research, which is not permitted. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:47, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed a typo in one of the refs. I'm not totally convinced, but I accept that you are writing in good faith. You should use the "move" tab to move the article back to its original title, but you cannot do that until the short article you put there has been deleted (I mean deleted, not just blanked). I'll do that for you, but I'm going to leave it for a day so that you can improve the article by adding more links and categories. You should do that because, as it stands, the article may be nominated for deletion again. The better it looks, the more likely it is to survive Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:29, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~.
  • Print publications are OK as references as long as you give full details (author, title, publisher, isbn, pages) Independent sources such as newspapers are better than those closely associated with the temple if that is possible
  • To add images, start here. Note that if the photos are not taken by you personally, you are very likely to run into copyright problems Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:40, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Add categories like [[Category:Hindu temples]]. I've done this one, you will find it at the bottom of your page. A bot might remove it while the article is in the sandbox, but you know how to do it now
Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:40, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • It should be to the right of the "view history" tab. It's possible that you might not have made enough edits for it to be enabled Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:47, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the article is there. I don't know how the search works, but my guess would be that it lists the first eight in order of how often they are searched (Toronto comes before Chicago, so it's not alphabetical) and yours, as a new article, doesn't make the cut. Ask here Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:33, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your question[edit]

On the deleted talk page, you asked "are you the editor of Wikipedia? It is a free space to share information." I am a Wikipedia editor, and I am also an administrator. And I'm afraid you misunderstand Wikipedia. It is not "a free space to share information". It is an encyclopaedia. If and when the temple has achieved the necessary notability (not counting any initial publicity campaigning), then will be time to consider an article. One month and about a week is hardly time. There are plenty of places like MySpace and Facebook for 'sharing information'. Wikipedia is not here for the promotion of any entity. Peridon (talk) 18:18, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
