Hi, welcome to Wikipedia. I've been selected as your mentor to help you through your project. As luck would have it, I have a little bit of a background in telecommunications. I worked for AT&T for 10 years. I started as a sales rep with Pacific Bell, was promoted to management in a year and became a software developer for SBC Communications and a fraud investigator. Before the merger with AT&T, I transferred to Nevada Bell as an analyst and finished my career with them running the dispatch center in Reno, Nevada before moving on to bigger and better things. I've been editing on Wikipedia for a little over 5 years. I mostly work on articles related to my hobbies (custom knife collecting, music, animals, martial arts) and a few related to my business as a sportwriter (professional and amateur boxing, mma, collegiate wrestling) and as a firearms and combatives instructor. The writing style on wikipedia is encyclopedic and in what is known as a summary-style; it often reminds me of writing a term paper as opposed to a magazine or newspaper article. I can help you out mostly in the form of finding reliable sources and formatting references. File source and copyright licensing problem with File:RonBrace.jpg[edit]
Thanks for uploading File:RonBrace.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 17:40, 3 May 2011 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. Welcome to Wikipedia, I have some comments on a couple of your recent edits.
- In regards to Iota Phi Theta, the founders were already listed in a section below. While including them certainly is appropriate, please check to see if the information is elsewhere in the article. Also, I moved the fact that it was Morgan State College at the time of founding out of the infobox into the main part of the article. The edit caused the link in the info box to including all of the information that you included to break the link (please look for redlinks when you preview). Let me know if the current location works for you.
- In regards to Jason Manuel Olazabal, references should be to books magazines or external sites. For example, I found Jason on http://www.nicindy.org/press/greeks-in-entertainment/ which is a pretty good reference. Perhaps you could take the Iotas and others from that page and put references for the other brothers who should have them. You may also want to do this for the Iotas at http://www.iotaphitheta.org/page15.html which also be a great reference. In regards to references, take a look at WP:REF on how to do them. Also, references don't show up unless there is a <references/> or {{reflist}} entry for them to go to. Generally this is in its own section.
