Templates

Hey. Check out {{Regions of Ukraine}}, I've updated it to something more streamlined and a lot simpler to read. As such, I really don't think there is a need for {{Administrative divisions of the Ukrainian SSR}} since they are essentially the same thing (I've added a bottom row with the former subdivisions) and currently there are two templates taking up space when we can have just one. What do you say?

I would recommend we keep {{History of Ukraine}} and {{Ukrainian statehood}} together as well, since in all reality they are one and the same thing. Ideally, I see the difference between these two templates, where {{History of Ukraine}} would have articles along the lines of History of Ukraine (1922-1991) and History of Ukraine (1991-Present) as well as events (Ukraine during World War I), with {{Ukrainian statehood}} having articles on the nation-states themselves (as it is now). But we are quite a long way away from having those articles and I figure it is best to keep them merged together for now (until a larger influx of Ukrainian Wikipedia editors!!).

Wow! I love the look of the template "Regions of Ukraine". It looks simply great. Some changes should be made, though. It would be better to rename the template to more general description such as subdivisions of Ukraine (currently titled as such, but named differently). Also, some categories are out place. For example, there is no difference between districts of cities with special status or any other cities, all those districts are created in the individual discretion of city government, thus, categories "Districts of cities with special status" and "Districts of regional cities" should be combined into one. Moreover, the city districts pretty much are the same level of subdivision as a conventional districts in Ukraine. I should point out also to the fact that the template does not include an important category of cities of raion (district) significance. That is a unique category for all cities other than of special status and of regional significance. Those cities usually are small and along with urban settlement can be considered as towns, yet unlike those urban settlements, they have a degree of autonomy within a district jurisdiction where they are located. There is very little information available about those cities and analysis of the category. Other than that the template looks more than wonderful - it's simple, easy on an eye, and very informative covering all major aspects of the administrative division of modern Ukraine. Great job!!! I've made some tweaks to the template. Merged the two raions (cities w/ special status and cities w/ regional importance together). The only reason I had them separate was because of the way KOATUU had them listed (separately). You're right, either way they are one and the same thing. I also tried to make it easier for the reader by changing "District city" to "District-level city" since it would be easy to confuse the former with "City district" for readers who are not familiar with the administrative scheme of Ukraine. Either way they need to re-do the entire administrative scheme of the country from scratch since all of this confusion is left over from Soviet times!

Great! But there is no need to create a fourth level. Rural settlements (selyshche) do not have any forms of representation or governments, they are like oscillated neighborhoods and usually are part of some settlement council, may it be urban (including city) or rural. I designed a table in the main article about the administrative divisions of Ukraine#Structure based on the 2001 Ukrainian Census. Frankly it is a certain degree of original research as there are no such tables and was created out of a personal perspective. For simplicity the administrative division in Ukraine is based on a structure: region-district-council. Council or "rada" (local name) is a representative body of any settlement and it was inherited from the Soviet administration. Districts are divided into several rural councils (silrada) and/or include other entities such as city councils (miskrada) of district-level cities (district significance) and settlement councils (selyshchna rada). Settlement councils always correspond to urban settlements, therefore other settlements that exist as part of rural councils are not taken into consideration and not mentioned in the Constitution of Ukraine. However that conclusion is based on my own perception and should be reviewed by a real expert, yet I came to it after reading various legislative materials of Verkhovna Rada and conducted a separate web research on the matter. But one should be aware of a fine difference between administrative division and a simple locality. Anyway I hope you will understand where I am coming from. Once I ran across some article about the cities of district significance and wanted to interpret it into the Anglophone Wikipedia, but just did not find a time. It is a great article that explained history and reason on creating of such an entity. Maybe later... There also some discussion and I believe a bill on the administrative reform in Ukraine. Thanks I appreciate it! I think I've spent more time and effort on designing the templates in my entire wiki-career than writing articles themselves.. Anyway, yeah the whole admin. structure is hard to understand (I still struggle with it sometimes lol) but you seem to have a better grasp of it! I removed the fourth level and tweaked it again "urban-type settlements" >>> "settlement councils" since we are sticking with the region-district-council method.

I've been considering re-writing the entire series of Administrative divisions of Ukraine to reflect consistency between names and terminology because the way it is now only you and me can understand it :) as for the casual reader.. I'm sure they will have a more difficult time understanding.. Anyway, it doesn't matter if we keep them separate or together (if separate perhaps rename them to reflect their status in either Ukraine or Russia (Town of district significance (Russia) for instance..)

I'm not sure but I believe something to that of an "urban-type settlement of district significance" does exist in Ukraine, particularly since there is an urban-type settlement of Teofipol (I'll create an article soon..), yet it is the administrative center of Teofipol Raion.. The reason I asked about the urban-type settlements is that we'll need to organize the Russian/Ukrainian information, if Ukraine has them as well, and it's probably better to do it before hundreds of pages start to link to the new article(s) :) (as they now do to town of district significance).

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that it doesn't really make much difference for WikiProject Russia whether Ukrainian and Russian towns of district significance are covered in one article or separately, but I would appreciate if you could let me know when you decide which way you ultimately want to go. Conceptual representation of the administrative division of Germany

Good pointer from Ezhiki, thank you as well. I wanted to tell that I liked the way certain portions of the article is written about states of Germany. There is a great chart that help to come up with the table for the Ukrainian counterpart (refer to diagram). Also there are several articles on the web, out of which now I can only recall the Inna Bohoslovska's party Viche website, that have discussions about the proposed administrative reform presenting with some explanation on understanding of current situation and why reform would be beneficial. Also, I think that this article should be transformed into more broader one like an index page rather than being a mere page with purpose of disambiguity. About urban settlement of district significance, I must say that there are no such concept. Urban settlements may be administrative centers of districts, but unlike cities they do not have any significance and that is the main difference between them. I might be mistaken, but I never seen or heard such a term. I can say for certain that there is no urban settlements of regional significance. Rus' Khaganate

I saw you comment on there and was just wondering, does this article have any justification? I've taken university-level Russian history classes and read Russian history from the big names and never heard of any so-called "Rus Khaganate". Before I go ham on the article, just wondering your opinion since I saw you commenting there a while back--Львівське (говорити) 16:05, 15 February 2013 (UTC) (wasn't sure if i should reply here or on my page)

Rus is an English word just as much as Ruthenia, just the latter is derived from the latin and Rus' from the original slavic. Rus' people and Rus' states tend to pop up more in English sources for this period, whereas 'Ruthenian' starts to be mentioned when you get to the Ruthenian language being adopted in Belarus/Lithuania/Poland, and Medieval texts from western sources (like french or whatever) who refer to the whole lot as Ruthenians.

Anyway, it does seem to be a lot of original research, and I wanted to start by tagging the article for all the source issues (there are a lot of poorly cited, or primary sources) but am already getting reverted immediately so I thought it would be good to ask another active editor just in case I was off-base on this before something errupted. It does seem to be a 'hypothetical' state, and I've already found at least one source saying that the idea of a 'Rus Khaganate' is false. Perhaps there were some khagans up north who were remnants of the khazar rule, or who were in the south mistranslated as 'khagans' due to the linguistics involved, but the idea of a centralized confederation of ruthenian khagans lasting for 100 years just is nonsense.--Львівське (говорити) 14:46, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I'm all well aware of the history you mentioned, which is the generally accepted timeline. That said, I think my concern was that this 'christianization' article is listed on the infobox for russian history along with the khaganate part. a) two theories shouldnt be in the general russian history box, and b) the christianization article should deal with rus people, not just this theoretical alliance of tribes/states. More digging. It's looking like it existed, not as the sources describe on the article (that is iffy), but a union between kazar exiles and varangians happened in 830. It was not, however, a precursor to kievan rus, which formed independently in 882 by different varangians, and incorporated the upper volga territory of the 'rus kaganate' into itself.--Львівське (говорити) 01:46, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Funny you mention the celtic origin, in the Magocsi book I'm using as reference he notes a few scholars who believe in the celtic theory for Rus' origins, as opposed to the Norman and anti-Norman schools. As far as the khaganate goes, it does in fact seem to be an actual group of varangians who were influenced by khazar exiles, which makes sense, but it as a state was not a progenitor of the kiev state - it was just another small tribal grouping that was swallowed up when Oleh/g consolidated the territory.--Львівське (говорити) 22:57, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

By all accounts I've read, the 'khagan' title was only used in by this one polity in the upper volga / rostov region, not ukraine (where it would have been used by actual khazars, not rus').--Львівське (говорити) 00:58, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Hey. I don't see the need of having a separate category for this purpose; Category:Neighborhoods and raions of Kiev serves this purpose quite well; everything is combined and particularly since some articles (like Obolon Raion, cover the "administrative entity" along with the "historical neighborhood" in one article)...

Also, per the consensus on Talk:Raions of Ukraine on not changing instances of "raion" to "district", this category should be at Category:Raions of Kiev, and we should create a separate Category:Neighborhoods of Kiev if we were to go the separate route. It just makes sense to keep uniformity throughout the articles among Ukraine-related topics and not confuse the casual browsing reader, like using the term "raion" over "district" in almost all instances.. About "Suffragan" and "vicar"

Dear Aleksandr you made a wrong corrections, because. Suffragan bishop in the current Canon Law of the Latin Church (CIC 1983) not exists, only coadjutor and auxiliary bishops (see: http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG1104/__P1F.HTM). Another things is suffragan diocese, but in this cause in has nothing with bishop Nil Lushchak. The article Suffragan bishop wrote somebody without needing specifications (in the part of the Catholic Church). Also the vicar bishop is only in CIC, but not in CCEO (Canon Low for Eastern Catholic Church). In anyway, impossible to use for eastern hierarch (not prelate!) or member of eparchy (not diocese) CIC terminology. Only the CCEO terminology. I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Yakiv Lizogub

I see that in April you added Yakiv Lizogub in the list of hetmans. Since this is apparently the only hetman without an English Wikipedia article, I thought about creating an article about him. However, after having done some research, I see whatsoever no statements that he was indeed an appointed hetman. Whereas there was no hetman elected between 1733 and 1750, the authority was with "Правление гетманского уряда", which consisted of six members, and I do not even see any evidence that Lizogub was a part of it. The Geographical midpoint of Europe is no that far from Ukraine, and European Russia alone is 40% of all Europe. I think we should include Ukraine in central Europe. Geopolitically it is still tied to Russia, though, and religiously it is Orthodox. I suppose your proposition of West Ukraine is fair enough. Death toll

Might help to coordinate together on this. How did you get 8-9 deaths from 5-6? I know KP and others are saying 4 shooting deaths now instead of the 2 we have on the page; what is the third? Mishae, frankly, I am not such a good vandal watcher. I raise a flag every now and then. It does not seem that his actions are destructive, although are weird. Well, he put spaces after every carriage and that's his edits. He also substitutes RU and UK icons with (Russian and Ukrainian) which makes difficult to see which site is English and which isn't. According to WP:DEST his edits are considered to be unproductive and in some cases harmful since because of his mania to put spaces he sometimes deletes titles. More, he even substitutes cite news with Citation which makes no sense. Since I don't have revering tool I was forced manually to cite references as well as add those icons back in the Euromaidan article. Well, guess what? I went to ANI, the admin told me to post it to AVI (Also he mentioned that some of the IPs were from Brazil). I posted it to AVI and they removed my comment (twice) at the end saying that it doesn't belong to ANI! I thought that Wikipedia have measures against disruptive editing???!!! Like, do anybody at ANI consider the seriousness of this or its O.K. now to do edits like this without any consequence what so ever. Furthermore, a guy here mentioned about a destructive edit and at the same time says "I fixed it now, but it doesn't warrant a block" and sends a ref to a minor edit. This is ridiculous because I wasted posting those comments till 1 fucking am, trying to convince the admins (which I shouldn't even call them that anymore) to take action. And what's worse, it continues! And this, is after my revert. Although the edit is good overall substitution of Sfn for ref name= doesn't make any sense, also editing author link as Pope Paul VI instead of his biographer's name. My issue was in regards to claims that were not correctly interpreted by some foreign media during the period of time and references of which ended up in wikipedia as affirmative statements. After checking the information I asked to have those claims removed until further clarification. That argument is listed at the talk page of the mentioned article. Darouet seems to be quite an active editor involved in many things other than Ukrainian-Russian relations. Polling tables in Ukrainian presidential election, 2014

The edit summaries are too short, and apparently I'm not explaining this properly.

There are two separate tables because PoR has not decided on a candidate.

At first, pollsters polled incumbent President Victor Yanukovych as the PoR candidate (who was generally presumed to be the PoR candidate again for obvious reasons.) After the Ukrainian revolution Yanukovych was still eligible to run again. Yanukovych is allowed to run for President. Yanukovych chose not to run in the new elections labeling them illegitimate, so he hasn't been polled recently.

In his place, some pollsters are polling Tihipko (who is generally considered the most likely PoR candidate.)

The tables, however, are not strictly chronological. One is of polls that suppose Yanukovych is the PoR candidate, and one is for polls that suppose Tihipko is the PoR candidate.

There is no confirmed PoR candidate, if someone other than Tihipko is the PoR candidate we will need a third table because there is no room for them in the Tihipko table. It is not a table for all post-Revolution polls, just like the Yanukovych table is not a table for all pre-Revolution polls.

They are both for all polls from before or after the Revolution that suppose Yanukovych or Tihipko respectively are the PoR candidate.

And anyways, if they are generally chronological right now, the date that divides them would be the one when Yanukovych stated he would not run, not the date he was removed from power.

As to why not divide the table by time, why would the table need to be divided at all? The tables already have the polls presented chronologically -- newer polls go at the top. There's no need to divide the tables based on "time period."

There's more than one table because pollsters haven't always polled the same sets of candidates.

And, by the way, presenting polls with a variety of candidates is done on every other election article. Go to the article for opinion polling for the next US presidential election (or the French presidential election, ect.), and there are polls for a variety of different sets of candidates -- because the pollsters poll a variety of different candidates.

How does this have any bearing on this conversation? I don't understand. What we're talking about is what to name the sub-headings in the opinion polling section on the article. You haven't explained why you think the way it's done now is "biased."

Yes, at one point Yanukovych was considered the presumptive PoR candidate and most pollsters polled him. Currently, most pollsters poll Tihipko. Tihipko is not, however, the official PoR candidate, and a number of other PoR members are listed as potential candidates in the article. Tihipko is generally being polled, but he is far from guaranteed to be the PoR candidate.

In my opinion, the current headings are descriptive. One table has polls with Yanukovych. One has polls with Tihipko. If there emerges a different set of plausible candidates in the future, whoever they are or whatever party they belong to, we'd want to include those. How is that "biased" or why it should be changed?

I'm honestly not opposed to changing the format. But I would appreciate if you would stop insinuating my editing is biased somehow, and instead actually address the issue of the format and why or how it should be changed. --4idaho (talk) 13:11, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

4idaho, first of all do not try to ridicule this argument more than it is already. Second of all previously you denied the fact that polls are chronological. That simply does not make any sense, because the whole purpose of the polls in the article is to show how opinions change in regards to candidates over time. Third of all you still did not provide real arguments why subsections of opinion polls should be named after politicians of a certain political party, towards which you seems to be strongly affectionate. How are they (subsections) "descriptive"? If one sub-section named "with Tihipko" contains information with such candidate over certain period of time, another sub-section with Yanukovych should cover the same period of time, but with now different candidate. Is that your description? How is that not ambiguous? The name of the section is "opinion polls", not "Party of Regions" struggle before elections. Chronological within themselves. I.e. there are two tables, each table has polls presented in chronological order, but the tables do not necessarily follow each other. I.e. one table does not pick up where the other table leaves off.

As to my opinion on the headings, I think they're fine the the way they are (although, again, I'm not necessarily opposed to changing them if you have a reasonable alternative.) 4idaho, the problem is that you do not want to listen to me. When did Yanukovych announced that he will not run for President? March 11. Now, what did you say in that regard? Also, to stop all the doubt whether or not those tables in chronological order. Did you see the table under your sub-section "With Yanukovych"? There are some breaking heading 2012, 2013, 2014. Also, the latest opinion poll with Yanukovych was conducted late in January of 2014 where it is left off following (rather preceding) by with Tihipko which contains polls for March 2014.

With all do respect, your english isn't the best. You also divided them by "time period" (before/after Revolution.) When you talk about dividing them by "time period" it's not all clear to me that you mean dividing them the way I had suggested. I did read it, I just misunderstood it.

As to the one table picking up several months later March 2014, that's sort of been my point the entire time. Yanukovych's removal from power and subsequent announcement he wouldn't run is not directly correlated with Tihipko becoming a leading figure in PoR and getting polled as their potential candidate. You can't really pick any one day and say that's the day when Yanukovych stopped being PoR leading figure and Tihipko became it.

That's why when I created the section and put all the opinion polls in I simply divided the sub-sections the way I did. It seemed the most simple way to do it at the time.

That said, again, I have to objection to them being changed. I only objected to them being divided as "before/after Revolution." What do you suggest the heading be changed to then? 4idaho, thanks, for stepping down. I also want to mention that the polls with Yanukovych were for different election. Is not that so? Originally scheduled for 2015, it was moved to spring of 2014 after the Revolution and revival of the 2004 constitutional amendments. Right? I think that would be a good pivotal point. It happened so that many changes occurred among which was the public consideration for candidates. But, one should be aware that polls do not state or imply that Yanukovych does not have a right to participate in elections. They are perception of social opinion. I disagree, the Revolution is certainly a key event of the election but it doesn't have a direct correlation with opinion polling so it doesn't make sense to me to divide the table based on that.

I've been thinking, but would you think of having a table like the one for Opinion polling for the French presidential election, 2012. As you can see, in the early polls a variety of candidates from the same party are polled but it's all done in one table. So in other words it would look like this, with no dividing the section:

Nedim Ardoğa, it is not consistent with such categories like Category:Germanic countries and territories. I think Category:Turkic states should be reformed (or redirected) into Category:Turkic countries and territories that would contain other political polities. Category:Autonomous Turkic states also should be changed as it contain subnational territories which are not states per se but rather autonomous territories. Ата, That one, but it is in Ukrainian. Also, most of them are not "zakazniks" per se. The most important nature preserves are called "zapavedniks" which are roughly translated as sanctuaries (or nature preserves). Zakazniks are smaller and more specialized to certain habitat or species, I might be mistaken, though. English interpretations were originally done by myself, but with times they were adjusted by other users, I think. But due to the amount missing information, lack of time, and uncertainty in regards to some technical interpretations the whole process stalled half way through. Ymblanter, well. I could not really find an explanation on the whole system of the nature preservation fund in Russia. Certainly, there is much greater amount of space available to have more all those zakazniks, zapavedniks and other stuff. I tried to find some systematization. So, I ran across some legislative documents from Ukraine, ministerial websites, some tourism agency websites as well as flipping back and forth to the Ukrainian variant to pull up all the info. In Russia, at the federal level we have mainly national parks (see Nizhnyaya Kama National Park as an example, zapovedniks, and federal zakazniks (see Remdovsky Zakaznik). This is somewhat explained in the law [3] but essentially they differ by the amount of allowed activities. However, since we are only talking about translations, National parks are National Parks, zapovedniks are Nature Reserves, and zakazniks are zakazniks. Ymblanter, also, unlike in Russia, Ukraine does not have federal zakazniks as it is a unitary state, first of all, and second, all zakazniks are kept at regional levels and similar to a landscape park often constitute part of bigger preserves or natural parks. Rada really dissolved Crimean one, Konstantinov and his parliament (or "so-called parliament") in fact continues (this is comparable to Yeltsin presidency between 21 September, when he was formally impeached by SC & Congr. but had managed to retain actual political power and 12 December 1993, when, with ratification of new Constitution, voters also ratified provision that "The President of the Russian Federation, elected according to the Constitution (Fundamental Law) of the Russian Federation - Russia, since the given Constitution comes into force, since carry out the powers fixed in it until the term of office for which he was elected expires.", i.e. cancelled early elections and prolonged Y.'s term to 1996), and it cannot be ignored. I already metioned, that V. Kon. is de facto chairman (although Kosovo Assembly also violated Serbian law, btw) of de facto entity (Republic of Crimea). And yes, you're right, Ukr. parties aren't parties of Russia, but their deputies in VS/VRARC are de facto deputies in the RoC de facto parliament (per this and this). I'm not pretend that this parliament in unquestioned (it's under territorial dispute), but it has actual (de facto) power, backed by RF. What related articles? There are many articles on the current situation in Ukraine. Also, what clear support are you talking about? The article carry references, so its not a baseless claim, is it? My aim here was just an expansion, because the current person wasn't updated since December 29, 2012. Igor Strelkov

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Igor Strelkov a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Igor Sergeievich Strelkov. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. The colors used in the article may not meet guidelines for readability or WP:CONTRAST

I would like to change these two templates [1] [2] because the colors and contrast make them difficult to read. I noticed you selected the current color scheme for them some time ago; is there a reason for them to be this color (other than a close approximation of national colors)? Dsprc, please, check changes that I have made. The reason was probably the fact that blue color was an established among road identification signs. Volyn tragedy

Lvivske, that article is written purely from the Polish ethnocentric point of view. Just look at all the references for the article. Most of them are in Polish and almost none in Ukrainian. How is that balanced evaluation? The article portrays the viewpoint of Polish community and is not necessary the universal point of view. The tragedy took place in the wake of the Operation Tempest when Polish and Soviet forces ganged up against the Ukrainian resistance. There is no need to introduce a new article if the subject is one and the same, but portrayal of all points of view is valuable as it explains the Ukrainian-Polish cultural and ethnic relationships. I fully agree that its POV driven and one sided. As you can see on the talk page, I tried to provide balance and suggested the name was POV, but was shot down and reverted. I was then told that if I wanted a neutral article (one that showed it as a two-sided conflict, to go make a new article). This is WP:OWN as well as NPOV. I'm all ears on what you think should be done, its been a longstanding issue for me and the battles on that page were huge headaches.--LeVivsky (ಠ_ಠ) 00:05, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Lvivske, have you read the introductory paragraph? Do you remember how RGloucher protested when I called the Russians in Ukraine terrorists? Now, I think RGloucher simply is obligated to look at this article which labels the Ukrainian Insurgent Army as one that conducted ethnic cleansing. Now, if those Russian were actually recognized as terrorists by the Ukrainian authorities, there were no official claims except the opinion of some historians in regard to the ethnic cleansing conducted by the Ukrainian resistance. Snyder does mention about intentions of the Army to cleanse the Western Ukraine from Poles, but he does not seem to e accusing UPA in the Volhynian "massacre" (at least at the reference given). I dont think ethnic cleansing is an incorrect label, but my research does indicate that it was mutual and possibly started by the Polish. My main gripe is that the Ukrainian losses are covered up on the article and the possible two-sided nature of the conflict is covered up, which makes it a non neutral article. All is right, but just having accusation of somebody in the very first sentence is something like very important. Don't you think? It looks like the author of the article really wants the reader to notice that. The whole issue is controversial. The evaluation who started and did more harm is not so clear. The fact that the new Arsenal decided to "inherent" the past history does not necessary makes it one and the same club. We have many instances of clubs that have been reformed and have assumed the history of different clubs. Not just in Ukraine but in other countries. Look at the entry for FC Lviv. Bad example. FC Lviv never assumed history of different club. It did assumed the same name (generic), but never claimed the heritage of its predecessor. By the way, when are we going to merge those Obolon articles? :) It is clear that the two teams have clear connection. The case with Obolon is exactly the same as with Rangers, no doubt in it. About Zirka Kirovohrad, if you read the article carefully, you will find information about how the current club relates to its predecessor. About Oleksandriya, it is the same case as with Obolon. However after the merger with UkrAhroKom, now the club lays its claims to the heritage of FC Shakhtar Oleksandriya, while before that Polihraftekhnika nor PFC Olexandria did not do that. Arsenal Kyiv of 1925 was based on the team of the Arsenal factory, while the Arsenal Kyiv of 2001 was transformed and totally based on CSKA Kyiv. The new Arsenal was even playing at Kolos Stadium in Boryspil for quite some time, thus, tracing its heritage to FC Boryspil more than to 1925 Arsenal Kyiv. OK, but if you have a look at the new Arsenal Kyiv website for upcoming Arsenal Kyiv - Obolon-Brovar-2 Kyiv game the pictures of the stadium for the advertisement looks like the old venues where Arsenal Kyiv played again FC Obolon Kyiv from the past. Hmmmmm! Also this club has taken over the youth sports school and youth teams which were under the old Arsenal Kyiv umbrella - So they did not die! Well, if you would follow the Kiev city championship, you could see that Arsenal Kyiv had quite extensive football academy with several teams participating at different age categories. So, it is possible that it continues to compete on amateur level (city championship). The Kiev city competition also has another quite famous club from the past FC Lokomotyv Kyiv. Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Patriots of Ukraine a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Patriot of Ukraine. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. You did not explain your revert of my change on this template, so I have put it back (with some minor modifications). Some points to note:

1. Your revert is against policy. See WP:HLIST and WP:ACCESS. Your edit also removed some other improvements, such as state pass-through and fixing non-section redirects.
2. HLIST formatting has been extensively discussed on en:wp, and is overwhelmingly supported. It also makes the structure of the navbox much clearer, cleaner, and easier to edit.
3. Large numbers of redlinks in navboxes are a bad idea (one can't navigate between non-existent articles). I could simply have deleted them, but I took the time and trouble to help you out by putting them in a commented-out section, so that you can easily restore them once you (or anyone else) have created the relevant articles.
4. I considered putting the entries in alphabetical order – the usual default, for easier navigation – but left it unchanged, in case you wanted to put them in some other order (for example, by size of the minority). I recommend that you either put them in alphabetical order, or if you think some other order is better, use it and state in a footnote what the order is.
5. Using templates to put mainspace articles in non-maintenance categories is a bad idea; it is much better to state the categories explicitly on the relevant page. See WP:TCAT.

Thank you, in general, for your work on Ukraine. Wikipedia needs more and better articles on topics outside of the USA and UK.

NSH002, I do not see how "my revert is against any policy" when I asked you to wait with any of your editions as I am still trying to improve the template. Many of your pointers are valid but could you please hold off your accusations and try to find a consensus before going with your editing? The order in the table was designed by the number of people based on the latest national census. Therefore it was split into three groups to identify more numerous ethnic diaspora in Ukraine from small ones. On the question of being against policy, please read the links I gave you above, namely WP:HLIST, WP:ACCESS, WP:TCAT. I have been careful not to make any accusations, but simply to point you to established policy, and to explain, in detail, why I made my changes. But even if I had, the mere fact that you are still working on it is not a valid reason for undoing my changes. Remember, I am trying to help you, and to save you time.

On the question of order of the entries, it is fine to group them by size (I wasn't questioning that at all, and it surprises me that you seem to be interpreting it that way). It is also fine to order them by size within each group, but if that is the case, then it helpful to our readsers to state, in a footnote, that they are ordered in decreading size (I don't know whether thay are or not, as I don't have the census data at my fingertips). Hello Aleksandr. I noticed you've recently created a category Category:Individuals designated as terrorist by the government of Ukraine and are populating it with various individuals. However, in all the cases I've checked, there was nothing in the article itself to back up the claim that the individual is a designated terrorist. Since this sort of accusation could be harmful to these people, it is vital that we follow our policy on biographies of living persons (and particularly WP:BLPCAT) and insist on reliable sources for these claims. I will remove any tags you have added which are unreferenced, but feel free to reinsert them if you can simultaneously add reliably sourced text backing up the claim.
