Kilt articles merge proposal

I have posted a counter-proposal in re your proposal to merge Irish kilt / Welsh kilt into the main kilt article. Essentially, my counter-proposal is to take the content (slightly re-worked) of the current kilt article and create a Scottish kilt article out of it. There is an article entitled kilt variants which could then (after some re-working) become the new main kilt article and which would discuss all of the various types of kilts (including the modern or contemporary kilt and the school uniform skirt, the latter of which is referred to by many as a kilt, though some would say that term is a misnomer in that instance).

This plan would leave the articles on the individual types of kilts in place (some in need of expansion).

My main concern is not with the particular organization of the various kilt articles, but that the discussion and information on the Scottish kilt not be compromised.

Please let me know on my talk page (or on the kilt article talk page how you view this counter-proposal.

US naval jack

Noticed that you substitured the US naval jack for the US ensign on HMS Battler (D18). Are you aware of the discussions at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ships/Archive05, sub-head "Always use ensigns?"? My interpretation is that ensigns are preferred, unless consensus is reached for use of the jack. Also, have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ships, where there's a table of maritime flags. You can specify a US flag and a date and it will generate the historically correct flag. Hope this helps. Folks at 137 10:41, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Army Groups of the National Revolutionary Army

Hello. Could you explain why you moved this article to Group Armies of the National Revolutionary Army, without any sort of discussion? (And also, "Army Group" to "Group Army" within the article.) Anything not from the CPC (and not from a website)? I refer you to 2 sources I have on hand at the moment: Hsu & Chang's History of the Sino Japanese War (1937-1945), which consistently uses "Army Group" (check the index) and Ho Ying-chin's Who Actually Fought the Sino-Japanese War 1937-45 ?, which refers to among other things "18th Army Group" and "Commander, Army Group". Besides Hsu & Chang's book, there is a published book that is also on line in Chinese that covers the War from 1931 on.

This is a more recent mainland text, definately covers the pre 7/1937 parts of the conflict better than Hsu. Use of the Term "Army Group" in English may be different terms in Chinese simple characters which is 军团 Army Group. 集團軍 seems to be the traditional characters for Army Group. Da Yuan Shuai

Wikipedia's article on Grand Marshal implies that the Republic of China had one or two ranks like Grand Marshal. Wikipedia's article on the Military of the Republic of China makes no reference to those ranks. Are they outdated? If so, as of when? I hoped you might know, since you recently made edits relating to that.

Also, the Grand Marshal article used to list Grand Marshal equivalent ranks for Imperial China, Communist China, and the Republic of China. But on 6 December 2007 someone deleted the links for Imperial China and Communist China, leaving just the Republic of China. Springfield Model 1865

Hi. You seem to be the most active/consistent contributer to Springfield Model 1865. I noticed a potential inconsistency between the article's 3rd and 6th paragraphs in discussing the purpose of the conversion process being for the model 1863 and 1861 muskets, respectively. Since the 1863 is basically a variant of the 1861, would it be proper to reference the 1861 in both paragraphs, or am I missing something? Cheers! • Wikipedia asks that we all follow some simple rules, to help everybody.

If you disagree about the T/W ratio then you should take it up on the talks page first. The ratio is calculated on all aircraft pages as the sourced weight divided by the sourced thrust. The J-11's weight is higher than the Su-27SK and since there is no increase in thrust its T/W is lower than the on the Su-27SK.
