A tag has been placed on Canadian team, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 23:30, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop recreating the above article. The group is non notable, please see WP:RS and if you have any reliable sources, enter them into the article, otherwise the article will keep being deletied RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 23:43, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You said it youself, you as a source is not valid, I've already directed you to WP:RS, the group are far from notable RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 23:58, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How is it not notable?[edit]

From User talk:Ryanpostlethwaite I can understand why the source may not be notable (and since no one else has started a page on it I have all the right to), but the truth is, I created it, it's my team, and it's my site which has attraced over seventy members, and many of them are notable and experienced miniature hobbyists. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by AinuLainour (talk contribs) 00:02, 15 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Right here goes, The article must have reliable sources in order to make it notable, this can not be yourself and must be sourced into the article to prove this i.e. a weblink. If you read WP:RS you will find that this also should not be things like the groups website, it should be only major articles such as a national newspaper that show this. Have a look at Wikipedia:Notability criteria, the group totally fails this and specifcally fails Wikipedia:Notability (organizations). The group is simply not big enough. 70 members is no where near enough for an article on wikipedia RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 00:11, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From User talk:Ryanpostlethwaite But this is to create AWARENESS for miniature painting as well as it is an organization, just because it is not recognized by the public (which miniature painting has practically NEVER been) doesn't mean it shouldn't have an article! This is a team heavily involved with Games Workshop activities such as Golden Demon, so you may look that up. You must realize that this kind of group isn't going to be well-known, it will only be well-known within figure painting. It deserves a page.

I'll explain a few things, wikipedia has rules and guidlines that must be followed for creating new pages. I've already directed you to the links that show notability on wikipedia and I quote you "You must realize that this kind of group isn't going to be well-known" - you admit yourself that it is never going to be well known - therefore it fails Wikipedia:Notability. Miature painting has already got a page which can be found here so there is no need for another article to bring attention to it RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 00:25, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That just proves what you know about the subject and my point! That is most certainly NOT miniature painting! Miniature painting is figure painting, and this group is an organization that is competitive, helpful, and it is also for awareness. I think that it is something if you're deleting an article that you know nothing about.

Just because it is not mainstream does not mean it doesn't deserve an article.

figure painting can be found here, again your group does not need an article to bring knowledge to the subject, it already appears on Wikipedia. You state that the group "is competitive, helpful, and it is also for awareness," however this does not make any difference - it does not make them notable!! Please provide any reliable sources on this page that prove the articles notability and I am more than happy to review them RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 01:06, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I apprecciate you trying to find the correct Wiki, but once again you're wrong (thought this time you typed my words in, which is alright. That's just not the type of miniature painting. Try "Model Painting"). If you clicked at least one of the links in the article (thus taking the time to review what has been written, what it means, and what the article is actually about) you would have a deeper understanding.

Anyways, this is not the point. I will try to find a 'notable source' but can't garauntee you anything just yet.

Recreate the article in the following space: User:AinuLainour/Canadian team (at present there isn't an article there). This will not get deleted as it is in your userspace. You need to get some reliable sources in though to show notability. I will then either say the article is OK and get an admin to move it into mainspace, or list it for Wikipedia:Deletion review for you, so other editors can comment on whether or not the article is acceptable, this judgement will then be final. I would say though, to get this article on mainspace, you are definately going to have to get the reliable sources that I have talked about and show its notability RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 01:23, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Take a look at this page: User:Ryanpostlethwaite/Wild beasts as one of my pages recently got deleted due to it not meeting WP:MUSIC and I recreated it in my own user space and showed its notability (note its external links after each statment that shows notability) and it is now in deletion review with a unanomous vote to relist the article. I'm showing your this as an exmple of how notibility can be shown RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 01:32, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
