Madness[edit]

Welcome to the madhouse; please say hello

Welcome[edit]

Hi, Aclarado. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  05:10, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Please lift this unjust IP block[edit]

I have been a policy-abiding Wikipedia editor. This IP block has been unfairly placed.

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Autoblock #1922828 lifted or expired.

Request handled by: NawlinWiki (talk)

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

Looks like you might have been caught in a block intended for another person. I will contact the blocking admin, as they will have knowledge of the full context here. Regards, --Taelus (Talk) 14:38, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Unblocked, sorry for the inconvenience. NawlinWiki (talk) 14:45, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please lift unjust IP Block[edit]

Again, this block has been unfairly placed. I have been a policy-abiding editor. Please remove. Thanks.

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Autoblock #2031885 lifted or expired.

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

Sorry for the inconvenience. If you have frequent troubles of this type, the next time it happens, you can request an IP Block Exemption User Right. --Jayron32 06:49, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is the 3rd time. Please lift this unjust IP Block[edit]

For the third time, this block has been unfairly placed. Please remove and exempt me from these occasional autoblocks. I have been a policy-abiding editor since day one. You may review my edit history to validate this. I've granted you IP block exemption, so you should be clear now. —  Tivedshambo  (t/c) 05:33, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

January 2011[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your help with the vital work of patrolling new pages. I noticed that you are not marking the majority of new pages you review as patrolled. Please do remember to click the 'mark this page as patrolled' link at the bottom of the new page if you have performed the standard patrolling tasks. Where appropriate, doing so saves time and work by informing fellow patrollers of your review of the page, so that they do not duplicate efforts. Thanks again for volunteering your time at the new pages patrol project. Logan Talk Contributions 20:38, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is the 4th time. Please lift this unjust IP Block[edit]

Block message:

Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "Page One Web Studio". The reason given for Page One Web Studio's block is: " Your account has been blocked indefinitely because its username is a blatant violation of our username policy – it is obviously profane; threatens, attacks or impersonates another person; or suggests that your intention is not to contribute to the encyclopedia (see our blocking and username policies for more information). We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, but users are not allowed to edit with inappropriate usernames, and trolling or other disruptive behavior is not tolerated. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=This block has been unfairly placed. ~~~~}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. ".

Accept reason: IPBE granted, as per previous incident. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 14:52, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please calm down, and stop calling the block against an IP address "unjust" ... it's not directed at you, it's clearly directed at another policy-breaking user. Yes, it's an annoyance, but as you can see it's a requirement to protect the project from someone else. If you're looking for IP Block exemption, see WP:IPBE (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 13:25, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I will certainly study the page you linked (WP:IPBE). I was just wondering though because I was of the understanding that exemption was granted on 05:33, 28 August 2010 (UTC) by Tivedshambo   -Aclarado (talk) 14:02, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The IPBE was removed in February 2011, apparently because the IP block itself had changed from a hardblock to a softblock - thus removing the risk of additional autoblocks. Clearly that's changed again - so I'm re-adding the IPBE. You shouldn't have further issues. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 14:49, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I appreciate it. -Aclarado (talk) 15:20, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for April 6[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Central Philippine University, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Filipino, Graduate and Private (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:56, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for April 18[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Silliman University, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Independent (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Thank you for calling my attention. I made the necessary edits by removing the link of the term "independent" to the disambiguation page and by inserting the needed clarificatory footnote. Thanks. Aclarado (talk) 05:20, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

IPBE flag removed[edit]

Hello, Aclarado. Just so you know, I have removed your IP Block Exemption flag, as it appears that it is no longer required. From a check of your recently-used IP addresses, it does not look as though any of those IP addresses are blocked; IPBE is only granted on an as-need basis, and when that need no longer exists, the flag may be removed. If you encounter any difficulty editing as a result of this action, please post an unblock request using the {{unblock|your reason here}} template, mentioning the block message you are seeing. If you have any other questions, or you believe that you do still have a need for the IPBE flag, please let me know. Hersfold (t/a/c) 19:25, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2019 US Banknote Contest[edit]

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

Notice

The file File:Website Banner.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Redundant to File:Silliman university logo.png, and almost certainly non-free.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Replaceable fair use File:Juanita Amatong photograph.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Juanita Amatong photograph.jpeg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 14:16, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
