Sick Boy

Apple Music isn’t the most reliable source. Given that the EP charted and you’ve provided one independent review - it’s probably enough. You can’t find anything else to about the release? Dan arndt (talk) 10:53, 14 July 2018 (UTC)

@Dan arndt: I found others, but they aren't reliable (most of them are user voted and the reviews are quite biased). ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 11:37, 14 July 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for reviewing article

Hi Abelmoschus Esculentus, Just a note to say thanks for reviewing my draft article on James Waltham Curtis.Lindsark (talk) 11:29, 14 July 2018 (UTC)

@Lindsark: You're welcome, always happy to help ;-) By the way, I think you should read WP:MOS thoroughly (including all subsections). Regarding your submission, the content is fine and your writing is very good (I appreciate it), but using '''1. Painter''' is not a proper heading. For every sections and their subsections, we use "==Level two headings (two equal signs)==" and "===Level three headings(three equal signs)===" respectively. It will automatically form the table of contents with numbering. I have cleaned up your article and fixed the headings in order to meet WP:MOS. Hope my explanation helps. Happy editing! ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 11:56, 14 July 2018 (UTC)

User talk:2600:8802:1106:1600:7D0B:F279:7967:2953

Hi Abel, I've just received a message from you that you had undone a change I had made to the article on Bury St. Edmunds. I had changed "a historic market town" to "an historic market town." My change was not made without consideration. Traditionally, the use of "a" or "an" before a word beginning with "h" has been a matter of euphony, based upon which usage sounds better or is easier to pronounce. This has been one of the more flexible rules in English usage. "An historic" as opposed to "a historic" has often been used because it has been presumed by many writers to sound better. But, also, "a historic" or "a historical" has the disadvantaged of sounding almost exactly like "a historical." This all comes down to personal preference since there is no English or American equivalent to the French Academy mandating usage.

Best to you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8802:1106:1600:7D0B:F279:7967:2953 (talk) 01:39, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

Yes they are both correct, but as far as what I've seen, "a historic" is more common in both American English and British English. In this case, the "h" of "historic" is pronounced, but the "h" of "hour" is not pronounced and the "ou" is a long vowel, so we generally use "a" for "historic" and "an" for "hour". This is what my English teacher told me... ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 02:16, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

My Draft not being approved

I wrote the draft for the Book The Galatic Solar Wars Series. I am the author of the books and can link you to the fact the book does in fact exist. You said This submission is not suitable for Wikipedia I want to know how information about a book is not suitable when I see articles all the time about books. I try to stay as netrual as I could get. I am not try to promote the books. Just trying to create an article of information about the books. I even left the about the author blank because I knew I could not stay netrual when it comes to that section. If some one else wants to t take a crack at creating the article so the Series as a Page and people can learn about the series as well as see when Upcoming Books are coming I am ok with that. I was just trying to get the article started so others could fix it better from a more netural stance.Jaws is twilight (talk) 16:16, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

Ouch! You've used a template to send a message to an experienced editor. Please review the essay Wikipedia:Don't template the regulars or maybe listen to a little advice. Doesn't this feel cold, impersonal, and canned? It's meant in good humour. Best wishes. Home Lander (talk) 14:38, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

Been in your shoes before, but all kidding aside, it can be frowned upon to use a template to remind someone to do something they routinely do. The user who I'm guessing you "reminded" me about was not warned because they were using a misleading username and were going to be blocked anyway. Home Lander (talk) 03:59, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
Nvm. I’ll try not to. Abelmoschus Esculentus (alt) (talk to me) 04:58, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

Michael Jackson page

Hello, Abelmoschus Esculentus

My username is MichaelBrady127 so I have a quick question so Can you please let me edit Michael Jackson's Wikipedia page because there is something wrong written on the page so I don't want the king of pop's page to have wrong facts about him and his family. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Jackson

Thank You,

MichaelBrady127 (MichaelBrady127 (talk) 21:17, 16 July 2018 (UTC))

@MichaelBrady127: Hi, sorry for my late reply. There’s a reason why Michael Jackson’s page is 30-500 protected. If you want to change anything in the article, you can submit an edit request. Remember to cite reliable sources for your change. Cheers Abelmoschus Esculentus (alt) (talk to me) 00:20, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

Janet Jackson

Hello, Abelmoschus Esculentus

I want to protect Janet Jackson page so can I please protect the page so only important people can edit page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janet_Jackson I don't want wrong people to edit random and not true things to her page so please let me protect her page.

Thanks, MichaelBrady127 (MichaelBrady127 (talk) 21:19, 16 July 2018 (UTC))

@MichaelBrady127: Pages are not protected preemptively. If there are excessive vandalism, disruptive editing or addition of poorly sourced material (ofc there’re a lot more reasons), you can submit a request at WP:RPP, an administrator with decide on the request then. Hi AE,

Why did you reverted my edit in the Haplocyonopsis article? I was correcting it. Regards. DenesFeri (talk) 10:31, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

@DenesFeri: Hi, as mentioned in my edit summary, you need to provide a reliable source for adding information. I believe you are not "correcting" but "adding information" ;-) ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 10:33, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

I put some sources, that I found on the Internet. I made the Hungarian article about this animal, from this sources. I just want it to provide more info in the English version. DenesFeri (talk) 10:39, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

Hiro Onoda

Hi Abel, I'm the person who edited the Hiro Onoda article. I'm not very used to the way editing wikipedia works, but I can assure you my edit was constructive, considering that the information listed in the article is false. Perhaps the part about his family being a samurai family might be correct, but on the subject of his father's death in WWII, there is no evidence to point to that conclusion.

https://www.nytimes.com/1974/03/13/archives/soldiers-return-from-30-years-in-jungle-stirs-japanese-deeply.html

If you read this article from 1974, it very specifically mentions that, "Lieutenant Onoda, dressed in a new blue suit his brother had taken[sic] to Manila for him, bowed smilingly and shook hands with his 86‐year‐old father, Tanejiro, who leaned on a cane, and his 88‐year‐old mother, Tamae, who sat in a wheelchair."

Furthermore, there are parts of the man's autobiography that talk about his father leaving a poem for him to read, during one of the failed rescue attempts.

I have no clue where the information came from that his father died in China during WWII appeared, but is untrue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.68.104.240 (talk) 21:49, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

Do not stalk my edits

A useful stalk

Or you will be at ANI before you know it. And if I wanted to leave this message I would have let Twinkle do so. It is not always necessary, and in the case of LTAs, particularly counter-productive. —SerialNumber54129 paranoia /cheap sh*t room 12:35, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

No I am not stalking your edits. I just came across the article not long ago and found the SPI and 3RR reports. If I wanted to, I would have done it a long time ago. ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 12:36, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
Good, it would be a sad day. And why did you remove this? While it's completely subjective and quasi-evidential, it was tendentially relevant and certainly not egregiously misplaced. —SerialNumber54129 paranoia /cheap sh*t room 12:53, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
I just felt that my editing behavior was too suspicious today as if I am stalking you as mentioned above. I restored it. ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 12:57, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

Ulmus x arbuscula.

The edit was constructive. It (a) pointed out that Ryston arboretum called the tree Arbusculata, though it was probably Arbuscula (info missing from previous edit); (b) it gave the planting date (info missing from previous edit); (c) it deleted a citationless Dutch Elm Disease claim (an identical claim on another elm page had a "cn" tag in 2016 but was never substantiated); (d) it pointed out that Pests & Diseases info on x arbuscula is currently lacking (info missing from previous edit). How can three additions and one correction be "unconstructive"? If you would like to experiment with reverting edits, please use the sandbox. Hi - I'm interested as to why you reverted these edits to the sandbox. Per this page, these were acceptable uses of the sandbox, so what reason did you have for near-immediately reverting? - TNT 💖 14:07, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

@There'sNoTime: I am just bored. I came across the edit in my watchlist and clicked the rollback button. Is that inappropriate? I can immediately remove it from my watchlist. ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 14:12, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
You rolled back an edit because you were bored..? Did you have a look at the diff to see what you were rolling back, or did you just click [rollback]? - TNT 💖 14:18, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
Sorry I didn't check the diff before I revert. I wasn't reverting the edit because I was bored, I am just saying I was bored when I look at my watchlist earlier today. But I do see copyvio or offensive materials being put in the sandbox, so I habitually revert edits there. Should I leave it alone? ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 14:24, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
Please re-read our guide on when to use rollback, and just be a little more careful - please? - TNT 💖 14:51, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

Bubsy 3D

親愛的Abelmoschus Esculentus,

Your signature

Hi, there is a problem with your signature customization. The way you have it in white text on a background that is half green and half white makes it effectively unreadable. Please consider changing it to make it more legible. Thanks Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 23:34, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

@Dodger67: Thanks for the heads up. However, this is a very common style of signatures and there are no pages which have a sudden change of colour in the middle, right? ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (alt) (talk to me) 00:11, 19 July 2018 (UTC)

Bubsy 3D Edits

Dear Abelmoschus Esculentus,

I added edits to the Bubsy 3D Wikipedia page that increased the historical accuracy of the page. However, you removed these changes, and I am not happy sir. NOT HAPPY. I was trying to help the rest of civilization. Increase their education. And you took that away from them. Also, why do you get to decide who edits this page? You didn't develop Bubsy 3D. You weren't there. You don't know what happened. I was Richard Gate's personal assistant! He was ok that the credit was taken from him, but after he passed away last month, I couldn't stand it any longer! This is disrespectful to Richard Gates and what he stood for! I feel disrespected! America is disrespected! All I ask is that you let me correct the page to how I wrote it, and I will let bygones be bygones. Deal?

Sincerely,

Andrew Roberts Richard Gate's Personal Assistant — Preceding unsigned comment added by UltimatePro1734 (talkcontribs) 20:08, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

Follow Up on Squadhelp Article

Hi Abel,

My name is Grant and I'm the author of the Squadhelp article - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Squadhelp - that you reviewed a few weeks back. I'm just trying to gather a little more information. Based on other articles on other naming companies, I feel that Squadhelp should be included in Wikipedia. Here is the Wikipedia article on Naming Firms - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naming_firm - with pages on many industry companies. Here is a link to a Wikipedia article that already confirms us as worthy of inclusion - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naming_firm - see S. I have provided many outside sources and all the information in the article is from these sources. I'm hoping to understand more about your disapproval of this article, so that I can update it and get published. Looking forward to working with you on this.

@Gpolachek: Thanks for your notification. I've just checked your draft again. It looks better than before, but I would like you to know a few problems about the draft (please do not feel offended):
  1. The article is an orphan.
  2. Reference no. 2 is from wikipedia which is not reliable. See WP:WINARS.
  3. According to WP:CITEFOOT, citation markers are normally placed after adjacent punctuation such as periods (full stops) and commas.
  4. It still seems kinda like an advertisement for me, I'm sure you can write it in a more neutral tone.
Rosetta@home is a good example and you can take a look at it. Thanks. Hope my suggestions help. ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 23:25, 13 July 2018 (UTC)

Abelmoschus_Esculentus (talk) Thank you very much. I'll work on these edits. Can you give me a little advice on unorphaning. Is the concept to link into the article from other pages or to link out from this page. If the point is to link in, are there any best practices or examples. Gpolachek 18 July 2018

@Gpolachek: Actually you should focus on the NPOV issue instead of adding wiki links to make it unorphaned. Other editors will help you deal with it. Regards ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (alt) (talk to me) 02:22, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
@Abelmoschus Esculentus: Hi Abel - Just completed NPOV edits to Draft:Squadhelp. Would you take a look before I resubmit? ~ User:gpolachek 08:33, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
@Gpolachek: It’s better now. You can submit it for review. However, (please don’t think I’m too picky, I just feel that) the history section reads like an essay. On a different note, your signature is a direct copy of mine, can you change the colour of your signature to avoid confusion? I’m sure that someone will raise this question in the future, so I advice you to change it ASAP. As far as I know, there are no signature styles (except the default style) that are exactly the same. Regards ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 00:35, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi Abel - Sorry about the signature. Still so much to learn about Wikipedia. Anyway, resubmitted as per our discussion and it was rejected again. I can submit again and you can approve? Gpolachek (talk) 19:58, 26 July 2018 (UTC)gpolachek

@Gpolachek: Maybe you ask KJP1 to explain the decline? I think the comment says it all - advertising. I said it was much better because you provided more sources to make the content verifiable, but you need to consider if the sources are reliable or not. I took a quick glance in the sources. When I looked at first three sources advertisements, I was convinced why this article is declined. See WP:RS ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 00:29, 27 July 2018 (UTC)

Nice work on vandalism! I think my rollbacks are even conflicting with yours! EggRoll97 (talk) 11:57, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
@EggRoll97: Thanks for the energy bar! U2. Incidentally, 10% my Huggle rollbacks also conflict with Cluebot NG's. smh ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 12:00, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
No problem, I conflict with Cluebot a lot too. By the way, mind if I copy the design of your "before you edit" talk page notice? I'm terrible at templates. EggRoll97 (talk) 12:04, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
@EggRoll97: You mean the edit notice you see when you are editing this page? Yes sure! Just remember to change (or delete, if you like) the first point because you user name is "EggRoll97" which has nothing to do with mine :) ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 12:07, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
@EggRoll97: As an additional note, I have one for my user page too. You may take a look at that. ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 12:18, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
@Abelmoschus Esculentus: There are so many users at RC Patrol and Counter-Vandalism that we are having edit conflicts with almost everybody. I have had Rollback conflicts with both you and EggRoll97 in the last week. It looks like we are 'revert warring' (many users trying to revert one edit). Kpgjhpjm 16:27, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
@Kpgjhpjm: Revert warring means two warriors reverting others edit. Example ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 23:36, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
@Abelmoschus Esculentus: OK , But why were you reverting your own edit several times there ? Kpgjhpjm 02:05, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
@Kpgjhpjm: Watch closely again and you’ll find out :) ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 02:40, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
I tend to revert vandals a lot here, but didn't had a chance to get a barnstar, guess its luck... So, congrats on getting one. :)--Biografer (talk) 02:45, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
@Abelmoschus Esculentus: Sorry , if I am missing something , but I still fail to understand what was going on there . Kpgjhpjm 02:57, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
@Kpgjhpjm: That vandal registered an account impersonating me with the lowercase “L” of “Abelmoschus” changed to uppercase “i” (AbeImoschus). The two characters look identical so you thought that they were all me. You can check the tag in the user page of that impersonator. ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 04:16, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

Revert on Wikipedia:Sandbox

Hi, Just to let you know I was working on something using text and images. It's just better to let the sandbox automatically clear the page. Thanks. YborCityJohn (talk) 01:26, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

@YborCityJohn: According to the sandbox heading, the sandbox should not contain offensive material and I think putting “fuck” in the sandbox isn’t a good idea. ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 01:41, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
Instead of pissing off annoying editors who have been here seven years (!!!) why not write some content? —SerialNumber54129 paranoia /cheap sh*t room 08:44, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
@Serial Number 54129: I wrote little content here since my English writing is not good so I prefer doing anti-vandalism work or update charts etc that do not require a good English writing skill. ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 13:19, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
Well, it's clearly of a relatively good standard already (and certainly better than my Korean), so the way forward is to collaborate with a native speaker. That way, you both create content and demonstrate inherent collegiality...which is what it's all about  :) —SerialNumber54129 paranoia /cheap sh*t room 13:44, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
@Serial Number 54129: That’s true (but I have never heard of people writing an article collaboratively). I’ll try to find a native English speaker who’s interested in music then. ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 13:54, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
Indeed they do. As far as subjects go, if one happens to live in an area which Wikpedia treats with WP:BIAS, then one's range of potential possible topics is exponentally increased, as we'll almost certainly have bugger-all on all but the most "famous" bits. Just FYI. —SerialNumber54129 paranoia /cheap sh*t room 13:59, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
