Hi, out of respect for your wishes, I have removed a section from my user page. I understand that doing so may help to fascilitate discussion between yourselves. I do believe however, that the effect of the remarks goes far beyond any insult to you. Remarks of that sort, in my opinion, tend to degrade the quality of debate. I would like to resolve this issue with the party involved, not just this particular instance, because as a respected, long-standing editor and administrator, he sets and example for others. I do not have personal animosity toward him, but I believe it is in the best interest of Wikipedia if his behavior is corrected. I say this, because, at some point, I may feel it is appropriate to revisit that remark, even if the remark loses its sting for you. Wa Alikum Assalam ya Ibrahim. Thanks for your support regarding al-Aqsa mosque related articles. I am now to reply to the latest discussion raised there by Amoruso[1]. The page will have to change to fairly represent the exact terminologies associated with it that seems to be some how confused on the page. I had the privilege to be at the Masjid for I am sure for more than a thousand time. I am a Jerusalemite, as my name suggests, and was surprised to see the wrong information this page contains and the confused terminologies used there. The information about the Mosque had mostly the flavor of dispute, particularly that only a one month ago had more info disputing it in regard to its place, being the Furthest mosque, and in regard to its prayer virtue being the third mosque in Islam! I come to realise that some editors are just reading the wrong weak and propoganda sources, or are just been interested in disputing long standing Islamic scripts and views. 3RR of Nielswik

I'll reply here; the noticeboard for the 3rr really isn't the place for all this sort of talk. As discussed at User talk:Nielswik and User talk:Tewfik, and explained at WP:3RR, "the three revert rule is not an entitlement, but an "electric fence"; the 3RR is intended to stop edit wars. It does not grant users an inalienable right to three reverts every 24 hours or endorse reverts as an editing technique." Or, to quote from the policy again, "Users may be blocked for edit warring or disruption even if they do not revert more than three times per day."

As far as I'm concerned, Nielswik performed 4 reverts within 24 hours. I beleive that of the 6 listed edits, 5 were reverts (I do not think that the 2nd one was). Nielswik disputed the revert status of the first one; I think he/she now agrees, though has pointed out that it is a minor revert. I agree with this point BUT the existence of another revert just outside the 24 hours - and this is only 11 minutes outside -, a previous ban, and the above quotes from policy all mean that I thought a ban was appropriate. Even if the first is not a revert, as stated before, a revert just 11mins out of the period can quite easily be included.

I should also point out that when making the decision, I did not look at the content involved. Quite frankly, it doesn't matter if Nielswik was right or wrong, and whether he thought he was right or wrong - this is a conduct, not a content dispute.

I'm not going to keep going over this - admins have discresion over the implementation of policy. If you disagree with policy, or think it should be clarified, then please go to Wikipedia talk:Three-revert rule and discuss it. Admins have not made policy as part of some closed-cabal - anyone can edit the policy page or make changes if they want to. Robdurbar 17:36, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

It was nothing personal and I even do not know you. I am basically against any rule which is ambiguous and give power to a person to decide. I might try to change it by going to 3RR too but do not know if I will have time and patience to convince other people about it. The rule about ban should be clearly defined. Please note that I do not mind if the rule say that one can include 4th revert if it is near an hour. However, rule should say it first. You know that ban also carry a kind of insult (at least for me) and I am proud that even editing in so many disputed article I have been never banned. I will not like if I edit 3 times and somone ban me. If so then ban all the people with 3 reverts too. Everyone should know in advance what he/she should not do. I'm sorry if I came accross as angry before; I didn't mean to. I think you'll find that Wikipedia has very few rules that are set in stone. This is because situations differ wildly between each case. On my behalf, I tend to avoid banning editors for their first violation of the rule, unless they have also been uncivil or very stubborn - people are often unfamiliar with it and all of its technicalities. In the example of Jayig given - its up to you whether to report him or not. But I think the key thing for you to take away from all this are:
  1. The best way to avoid bans is to not revert an editor more than once or twice (See Wikipedia:Harmonious editing club). Clearly this presents difficulties if you're editing contentious pages. However, there are always alternatives to reverting - ask another editor to have a look at an article, attempt to engage with the editor on the talk page, or in extreme cases start down the dispute resolution path. As I'm sure you will have seen, the best articles come from long negotiation processes; reverting is harmful to such processes. If you do all this, your edits will always be much more resepected.


You seem a good and fair editor. As long as you maintain that approach, I'm sure you will not have any troubles here. Robdurbar 21:10, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello there! That is definitely a good suggestion - the only problem I foresee is that there is currently a backlog of mediation cases waiting for mediators and I'm afraid other people might not be available. ArbCom is very selective in the cases they accept, so they have more time available for the ones they do have. This irratiting theorist says this:

  • I did not misrepresent the source, as I didn't say that Watt called the claim "supposed". Nonetheless we must not endorse the idea that such a claim existed. If we don't do it this way, we should include a sentence about the disputed nature of the claim. However, "my" attempt seemed more concise to me.
  • My concern, first and foremost, was NPOV and a properly organized articke. And I don't need "sources" for what you call "otherside". I will grant you that you have a more detailed knowledge about these things, but I have my doubts about organisation and NPOV wording.

After consideration, although you make a strong argument on this AfD, I don't feel like I know enough about the subject to get involved in this heated debate. As far as it goes my view is that you do think there is a 'third holiest site in Islam', so why not try to get the article changed to reflect your view rather than having it deleted. (Don't say I didn't warn). The LUMS images on your userpage would qualify as Fair-use images unless a permission to use them anywhere (even outside Wikipedia) is given. Wikipedia-only permissions are not acceptable as they are not free in true sense of the word. As a free encyclopedia, we should give away something that it truly free. Also, even if you get the permission, you should mail a copy of the permission to permissions (at) wikimedia (dot) org so that a ticket verifying the permission can be stored in our servers. An example of it can be seen at this image uploaded by me. Please see Requesting copyright permission for details of what I am talking about. Its because of AGF only that Wikipedia exists. All I meant to say was a written permission would be golden. In some point of time in future, when the article that uses them goes for FAC, it would be necessary to have the written permission. It will only get more difficult with time; so why not do it now. Ditto for Prof. Abelson's image. Also, the correct permission should have shown on the image description page (I see that now it is done). I want to commend your spirit conveyed in these words on your user page: I am a Ph.D. student in Germany and a wikipedian since March, 2006. I usually edit wikipedia when I get bored from work, usually after every 2-3 hours of work for fifteen minutes. Therefore, I could easily make some minor and quick contributions but find time for serious work rarely. I look forward to the time when you shall be able to devote more time to wikipedia. However, concentrating on your real life work is more important. Currently, I also find only a little time to be around due to real life commitments. Salafism

Actually when I began editing that page it was very confusing and had no real references. I read through many many articles and provided references to everything. Islami and his sockpuppet Truthpedia were reverting to an unreferenced version. I think the main issue is whether Salafism is the true practice of Islam, or a modern movement. Obviously Salafis want to portray the movement as a return to "True" Islam, and that is POV. I even added a paragraph in the introduction, with references, explaining why the term "Salafi" is disputed and confusing. Cuñado - Talk 20:18, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Third holiest

The phrase "Third holiest" referring to al-Aqsa mosque has only been in use since the early 20th century. Historians (Muslim and non-Muslim) agree that, unlike Makkah or Madina, only the site has significance and Jerusalem as a city is not holy. What makes the site especially controversial is that it was built and given the name 'al-Aqsa' about a century after the Qur'an was received. So our hadiths books are changed to mention it name in 20th Century. That mean the Sahih bukari copy before 20th century will not have this name and those hadith mentioning Al-Aqsa mosque? A very big claim you have made. --- ابراهيم 10:01, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
I have serious problems with non-Muslims discussing this concept.
Particularily when, as far as I can tell, the Zionists are driving this discussion, and their buddies are the same ones strangling the mosque. Muslims can barely reach it now, and in 50 or so years it will have deteriorated so badly that worship will be becoming impossible.

I would recommend you post your concerns on the administrator's noticeboard. Or write to non-muslim/non-jewish admins who might be in a better position to counsel you about this (User:Tom harrison comes to mind). Sorry I can't suggest more. The speedy keep is procedural due to the fact that the article had been submitted for deletion such a short time ago. I would suggest you let things settle down for a bit and then rather than submit it for an AfD you submit it for a renaming. Really all that needs to happen is for the article to be renamed. Alternatively you could call for a deletion review and see if the "no consensus keep" of the original AfD or the speedy keep of the second nom could be overturned. Other articles for example The Quran and science are also nominated many times. two times. However, no one speedy keep it. Each time I have to struggle to keep the article. Why wikipedia change it behavours. Speedy keep says that an article should be speedy keep if it is nominated in regular intervals. No problem, I will refrain from discussing it with you here; however, if you would look at my edits honestly, you will see that all I am doing is checking and verifying citations and re-writing the text to match the source. I have most probably removed more material than you have, in the name of streamlining the article. I do not call any site fake, as you have, rather, I will try and ensure that all valid sources with proper and acceptable wikipedia evidence are brought fairly and let the reader decide for his or herself. I am sorry you cannot trust me, but wikipedia's guidelines do not allow for special interests to take over wikipedia to push their points of view. Otherwise, we should let only Muslims write Islamic articles and only Jews write articles about Israel and only Germans write articles about beer, etc. Please refresh yourself with one of wikipedia's main official policy of WP:NPOV. It is only when we bring all major points of view that the reader is able to make an educated decision on his or her own. I agree minor, non-existant, points of view are ballast, but if there are tens and tens of mainstream sources that support something, it belongs in the article. I hope that you think about this and understand how EVERYONE in wikipedia is better off if we are able to concentrate on reliabel sources and not personal opinions. This has nothing to do with the Arbcom elections, per se. I am afraid you are bringing this up because you are ungappy with my attempting to fix the aforementioined article. Regardless, the answer is that I feel that there are plenty of reliable and verifiable sources that disagree, as I am in the process of trying to clarify. Also, the cites I have used in my editing have been from reliable sources such as CNN, NATO, the Washingtom Post, the Syrian Ministry of Tourism (a government site), the published papers of Fullbright scholars, etc. Please do not bring me proofs from travel sites. Sikhism not derivative of Islam

It is misconception that Sikhism is a syncretic faith from Hinduism and Islam. See Abrahamic religions and Dharmic religions- Sikhism is clearly Dharmic. The Guru Granth Sahib has compositions from a saints, some of which are non-Hindu. (Incidently, the Guru Granth Sahib also includes compositions from Ramayana and the Vedas). However these non-Hindu saints (e.g. Kabir) have complex beliefs deriving from both Bhakti and Sufism, and do not identify themselves as either Muslims or Hindus. For instance, they have written bhajans to Krishna. There is even an apocryphal story about Kabir that after his death his Muslim and Hindu devotees were fighting over his proper burial rites. (See Kabir). Further, modern Sikhism, as defined by Guru Gobind Singh and the practices he espoused were a result of the persecution that the Sikhs faced from the Mughals. That might not be entirely relavant here, but these practices (Sikhs are forbidden from eating halal foods), were intended to emphasise the difference. viv 06:00, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello ALM scientist,

I saw the image of Mohammad Yousuf which you uploaded, Image:Mohammad yousuf.jpg. Unfortunately, I don't think we can claim fair use on this image. It fails the first test on WP:FU, that "No free equivalent is available or could be created". Otherwise we could use any photo-agency celebrity picture, which is obviously not allowed.

I have put the "fair use disputed" tag on it, and I intend to nominate it for deletion in a couple of days.

Hi, I can understand your losing interest in that page. Also, I apologize, because the link I gave you was to a comment that itself had a bad link in it. If you don't mind, I would like to repeat my comment, or at least part of it below. My concern is that a mediation should actually help to settle the dispute (at least for a while) and not merely be setting the stage to round up new editors to engage in conflict. I would very much like to avoid the mediation heading in the direction of such a compromise merely because it appears the easy way out. (I think it would only be easy in the short run). The central purpose of mediation is to help resolve disputes. As Zora points out, compromises that we reach here will only last until new editors become involved in the article. It is for this reason that I am skeptical that a compromise will be at all useful if it does not include a sound statement of the reasons for the compromise.

User:Proabivouac has suggested an:

"announcement at the top of the article that the article has been thusly censored".

I could not disagree more. Announcements such as these, as well as edit summaries describing the removal of images as "reverting censorship", or talk page comments describing agreements on the contents of article as "yielding to Islamic <fill in the blank>", are inherently inflammatory. If a consensus reached in this mediation will last only until new editors arrive, such language invites such new editors to become involved and attempt to overturn the decisions reached. In my opinion, a compromise which does not settle the question of censorship, yielding, and the like, is a compromise which will not provide a satisfactory settlement. If we can show with sound reasoning why the article should be one way or another, if we can point to policies and guidelines as the support for our decision, then we will be able to provide new editors some insight as to why they should not overturn our compromise. If we don't provide these new editors with appropriate insights, but instead present them with a compromise that seems arbitrary, a compromise that is described as censorship, or yielding to Islamic influence etc, then our compromise will have little value.

Although an attempt to reach a compromise at this point may seem the fastest way to resolve the conflict, I believe that spending more time clarifying the guidelines, will more than pay for itself in terms of conflict resolution. --BostonMA talk 17:35, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

We had a truce for many months and there were NO statements at the top of the article. Admins like Tom Harrison used to say that in this article we had one picture of Muhammad not showing his face which is also very offensive to Muslims and we have placed other pictures in Depiction of Muhammad. Me used to revert that picture but than accepted that picture finally and so was the other side of people. We reached to that condition because that was NOT bending to the demands of Muslims and NOT to the demands of Non-Muslims but was a middle way hence each side was doing compromise. I believe that rules are subject to change and made by us humans. We can redefine them or change them if required. As long as both parties know that other party is doing some compromise than it can stay clam. I do not care a bit at all if the picture is information or not information as long as it is showing Muhammad because both are equally offensive to me. I do not wish to be part of a mediation that is on this point too. It is not acceptable that only Muslims do ALL the compromise and article end up having multiple (information or non-informative) pictures showing Muhammad. --- ALM 15:12, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Jihad sect on Islam page

i was thinking about making the beliefs section about creed i.e. the six fundamental beliefs classified by scholars as per the hadith of `Umar, under the following headings: God; Qur'an; Muhammad; Angels; Divine Decree; Resurrection. obviously the Qur'an and Muhammad sect would also contain a bit of information about necessity of belief in previous books/messengers respectively (i intend to fix that section up as soon as i finish the history/civilization sects). I appreciate your prayers. I approached Islam from a neutral point of view. I was looking for a religion and I thought Islam might be it. I have studied other religions carefully. What I learned about Muhammad and Islam takes problems with religions to another level (the Jewish holy books are pretty bad too). I encourage you to examine other religions and find out for yourself.
Even if the faults with other systems are at the level of Islam's, that doesn't mean that Islam is OK. It means that all the systems are bad. I wanted to let you, as a significant contributor to this article, know that I've set several tags there, and noted my concerns on the talk page. I'm not trying to start anything, and would welcome a good article here in the English Wikipedia on the subject; but I have several concerns that, I think, compromise the article.

Personally, I'd rather Wikipedia present the very best work on Islam to foster genuine understanding. I know that that is an uphill fight, and I don't really like the ubiquity that Wikipedia is developing; but that is where things seem to be going. I'd rather see Wikipedia silent on a subject than miss the mark. You deserve the opportunity to weigh in.

Well in that case many who are cited in the criticism of Islam article, are either people who left Islam or people who have no knowledge of Islamic Theology. You can use Dr Zakir Naik as he is a scientist (Medical doctor) and a muslim (so he has knowledge of Islam). I have countered such arguments many times. Wikipedia doesnt have a policy requiring to use only a selected set of authors for citing. A question related to naming conventions in articles about Muslim philosophers

When writing about Islamic philosophers should we use their Arabic or European names? Should Al-Kindi be reffered to as "al-Kindi" or "Alkindus"? Should Ibn Sina be reffered to as "Ibn Sina" or "Avicenna"? Should Ibn Rushd be reffered to as "Ibn Rushd" or "Awerroes"? Kkrystian 17:00 (UTC+1) 20 January 2007

Thank you for participating in discussion. Regarding Khalid Zaheer, I cannot say anything because I never read his books. But regarding Ghamidi, he is not Sunni. Sunni is a complete doctorine, based on the de facto ijma of four imams. Just like first four imams were not Sunni, but rather later generations developed this doctorine over period of time, I myself would never associate with something that is not sanctioned by the prophet or Qur'an. Qur'an on the other hand just make you obiding to God (Qur'an), prohpet (Sunnah), and people who are in authority (in Government) (see [Quran 4:59]).

There is no one after the prophet who can be authority and neither prophet made any authority in his life as Shias claim, but rather whole umma is hujjah (proof) over itself. We received Qur'an (written law) through consensus of umma and similarly Sunnah through perpetual adherence of umma (oral law), which has to be abided at any cost. But doctorines like Sunni, is a known developed doctorine, which has been transmitted by the ulema, and not by the umma. Just like circumcision has reached us through perpetual adherence of umma and its presence can be seen in history at all times after the prophet, which proves its authenticity and authority. But Sunni doctorine cannot be proved like that.

The last question is of Qur'anic exegesis, I think a person should differentiate between what is a good work and what is a bad work. Ghulam Pervez denied the Sunnah, which is completely against the consensus of ummah and secondly, you said it yourself that he interpreted Qur'an using Arabic dictionary. While, if you read Tadabbur-i-Qur'an, the discussions are completely scholarly and hard to refute. But in any case, we can have differences, and I think differences should help us improve our understanding and not grieveness. I think it is me who actually put the information in a wrong manner. Actually, no part of the Qur'an is abrogated as such. As Qur'an is not a collection of quotes, but rather a book. Every thing has to be read in its context. Hence, the context of the verse can tell by itself that which verse is for which event. The verse is still valid, it is just that its application will be done according to the context in which it came. For example, Qur'an gives some special restrictions for wives of the prophet, now these directives are still valid if prophet's wives would be alive, but because they are not, hence they are considered abrogated. I personally, don't like the word abrogated. As abrogated means that it is not part of the Qur'an, but actually even these (so called) abrogated verses have a lot of wisdom in them, from which we can learn. And please don't take pressure. Secularism

Hi ALM. I am so sorry that your experience here has put you off secularism. I am a supporter of secularism that allows people of all religions to live together, respecting each other's beliefs. There are not many countries where that happens all the time, but there are some examples of places where there have been religious conflicts that were eventually resolved. When I visited Hungary a lady said she could not understand why Protestants and Catholics were killing each other in Northern Ireland because in Hungary these Christian groups lived together with no animosity at all. Now in Northern Ireland they have started the difficult process of reconciliation. South Africa still has many problems but it was able to end the racial conflict and oppression without violence. Being a Muslim obviously I prefer Islamic system and hopes that it will much more respect for all religions. I used to thought that secularism also have respect for all religion but after discussion at User_talk:Tom_harrison#Muhammad_pictures and on other places, now I feel secularism is changed (or changing). Most people in west do not care about their own religion any more, they might go to church but are practically atheist. Hence they also denying respecting other religions too on the name of secularism. We have example of France and other countries that are changing their laws. I am already 1/3 way of his lecture. However, Aminz I like much more lecture that use Quran and Hadith extensively (and do not give personal thoughts at all). The lecture looks like more a philosophy lecture. He has giving general ideas. We do not have to tell west that Islam support philosophical-secularism (not political philosophy). Sharia prevents the construction of new churches and demands jizya for non-Muslims. Also proselytizing is a part of Christianity but this is a capital offense in an Islamic society. Similarly polytheism is illegal, and Aurangzeb enacted this in India for a while. Isn't insisting that religious minorities not be treated like other people disrespect? Much of these laws were later copied from Byzantium and Persian Empire legislation. Pact of Omar is believed by western historians to be produced later and attributed to Omar. And it can be explained completely based on the secular and cultural elements. Let me give an example to explain what I mean: Today many people kill animals and eat them. Assume that the science come up with a way to artificially produce meat. Well, people will eventually stop killing animals. Sometime later they will see killing animals as an extremely bad thing. Then, I am sure, some people will come and say. What? Prophet Muhammad slaughtered animals? What a terrible religion Islam is? And the critics will add it to the "Criticism of Islam" article. Now, still, we have to see how the Dhimmi regulaions were imosed. This article [14] from the Journal of Semitic Studies, Oxford University Press states makes the following point: "in spite of the existence of discriminatory laws against Jews and Christians, such as 'the Pact of 'Umar', the prohibition against learning Arabic and reading the Qur'an, or laws compelling Jews to dress in distinguishing clothes, they have rarely been applied. Hence, the status of the Jews as ahl al-dhimmah normally enabled them to lead safe and peaceful lives under Islam, only occasionally disrupted during the times of certain rulers or their vizirs, or when conditions in general began to deteriorate within the Muslim empire." Lewis states: "The usual definition of tolerance in pre-modern times was that: "I am in charge. I will allow you some though not all of the rights and privileges that I enjoy, provided that you behave yourself according to rules that I will lay down and enforce." Those later Muslims who made up the Pact of Omar were men of their time. It would be strange to expect them to give us legislation we have now in 21st century.--Aminz 03:55, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
I personally believe that Secularism is a contradiction to democracy. You can use any philosophy or any theory which has been developed in history by philosophers, *but* you are not allowed to use religion. On the other hand, I would like to see our Muslim countries to be democratic states of the last degree. Actually, Qur'an hasn't given us choice other than democracy (see 42:38). First four caliphs used Khilafa (a primitive tribal political system) to enforce this basic idea (I'd like a lot more space to explain this, from which I've understood this matter), and we are also expected to do so using modern institution based democratic model. Secondly, I believe that reigns of first four caliphs and most importantly of the prophet were the most democratic ones, one can even imagine. People could even question the head of the state and I know that when people started talking about revolts against Usman (ra) and it was told to him, he said that we will take action when they will take action. Hence, Islam has its punishments on the basis of actions and not beliefs, the only exception are the direct addressees of the prophet, whome God Himself decided to punish. Is that a Meccan surah? Out of personal conviction and thoughtful deliberation I have arrived at the conclusion that Muhammad was a bad man and Islam is a lie. Now, I don't care that under Islam this would have me damned obviously. I don't understand why even direct addresses of the prophet would be punished. He couldn't convince his own tribe until he used force. Ali's uncle was killed and is damned because Muhammad failed to convince him of "the truth." In Islam there is the realization that people's spread of choices is at least partly pre-ordained, i.e. nature and nurture have a huge impact on thinkng. ALM, Thanks very much for listening to it. you are right. It is philosophical. I agree that we don't need to please others. But I have a point. It is a pretty modern idea that all we need could be found in the Qur'an and Sunna. This claim was created as a reaction to the claim that the "science is enough". If many Muslims believe in this today, it doesn't make it right or prove that it has been historically the case. On the contrary, the early Muslims were influenced by Egyptions, Persians, etc etc. In fact, Watt states: "In the course of this book much has been said about Muhammad's far-sighted political strategy and his social reforms. His wisdom in these matters is shown by the rapid expansion of his small state to a world-empire after his death, and by the adaptation of his social institutions to many different environments and their continuance for thirteen centuries." The advantage that the early Islam had was its simplicity and adaptability. That was the secret of success of Islam and its early wide acceptance. What do we have now: A rigid rock rather than a mobile fluid. ALM, you say we don't have to please the West but we are influenced by the West anyways. How? West says X, we just want to say *NO*(because Muslims are all-knowing, all-wise) and we invent Y and claim that Islam says Y. I believe the biggest problem at the moment is our religious education. It is extremely defective, being run by clerics whose income can be threatened if they say something correct. Clergy has never been part of Islam, but as Aminz said, just as a reaction to west, we are going towards a clerical based society. Worst examples in the world are Iran, Saudi Arabia and X-Taliban regime. And interestingly, Pakistan and Indonesia seems to have a potential to go towards this path as well. To ALM, one point. Soroush (in min 56-57 I think) does say that he is not using secularism in a honorific sense, which is intrinsicly good or bad. He says that his lecture is just a descriptive one. Completing my comment above, Soroush says he hasn't seen anyone in the past who has said that you can find everything in Islam and you don't need whatsoever to look outside Islam. Aminz, I have not said that we have to go against west all the time. If west and Islam coincide than so be it. However, I do not like when these people try very hard to coincide with west. These poor people try hard to prove to west that Islam is democratic and secular. I do not like that. The fact is that west will never allow us to implement Islam until we have power to do that against there wills. Islam is a complete code of life. Yes indeed and No. Everything that Islam says should be part of ones life and anything else cannot be included if it is against Islam. What left other to consider? Nothing! It is just like if a Muslim leader (may be a Caliph) made a law which is not against Islam and not mentioned in Quran even then it is considered an Islamic law. We can still take from west but I am not interested in philosophical lecture but religious lecture. Also although Watt and others might be useful references in wikipedia but I do not wish to even consider any western sources as my reference or even read them. I wish to read early Islamic sources (usually translated from Arabic) and make my own views. I do not wish to follow any Imam or person. Just like in the lecture you have forwarded, I do not know why I have to agree with him when he is just presenting a theory. I cannot accept him only because he has some credentials but only if his arguments are from the bases I accept. Otherwise I have my own theories and my own philosophies of life. Pictures of Muhammed s.a.a.s.

Brother as we now in Islam is forbiden to picture portrait. No more no less informations. So he/she can not be muslim and picture a portrait - and not just ani portait, subhan All-llah, it means he/she IS NOT muslim. This is bad propaganda jus as ever made over muslims.

P.S. In my profile you can ever see: Don't use en.Wikipedia to learn about Islam - It's full of anti Islam propaganda.

I agree that a Muslim shouldn't make pictures of prophet, as he is not the object of worship (pictures and sculptures have always been made with this idea and even today, Hindus do the same with their deities), but I also think that one should not be a takfiri either (w.r.t. persian muslims of 15-16th century). I'm not extremist I just follow the rules of Islam. Even I don't attac , I just protect my self and religion. (By tryeing to protect the good name of Muhammed s.a.a.s. we are his ummeh and in that case we have protected our self because in the "comeing day" he will protect us.)
I have so unhappy reacted because in the article Depictions of Muhammad in educated way they make funn of Muhammed (peace be upon him). Can't you feel the unhappyness?
Question: Why? Why in the articles Jesus or Moses is no funny picture? (Even if there would be I would not be happy, because I'm muslim). Can some one give me different answer? that I have in my head that: Because the Cristians and Jewish are writeing the history of Jesus , Moses and Muhammed s.a.a.s..

My brothers I feell that It's not good to use articles of Islam from en.wikipedia, so me as an administrator os Albanian wikipedia will not use any more thos articles as a source for translation (for the articles about Islam)

Just a comment. Prophet Muhammad doesn't need our protection, he is already blessed. And secondly, to believe that someone can save us on the day of Judgement (even from the prophets), it is just a very wrong interpretation of Qur'an. Rather Qur'an gives the example of Isa (as) at the end of Surah Al-Maidah, when Isa (as) will say that God if you will punish them, they are your people and if you forgive them, then there must be some wisdom behind it. This shows clearly that prophet is not going to help (even for their own ummah) if they are guilty according to their scriptures i.e. if we've done something wrong against the Qur'an, God will not save that person for any reason as it will be against God's own words. And lastly, we all are here not that we can change the wikipedia, rather to struggle to present a fair POV about Islam (which I believe we can never achieve but we can struggle) as en.wikipedia has very high ranking in google and traffic is just *huge*. Dear brothers you gote wrong "my picture". With my text I didn't sad that Muhammed (pbuh) heed my or our protection (subhan All-llah) but I sad that he (so his name) needs to be protected. We are muslims and I thot we read and between letters not just the words as they are. Muhammed (a.s.) will ask fro his ummeh protection (I ask All-llah to make me his ummah) so that's the protection if you can see it (I know that you can see it). If I say that All-llah needs our protection I'll be not wrong because I know that All-llah does not need any protection but we are here to tatify and protect his words (that means to protect our self because just as I sad All-llah needs no protection).
As I see you point you whana say: stay quite and live for eating. Don't do anything because All-llah does not need your help. No brother WE SHOULD SAY THE TROUTH EVEN THE ENEMY CAN'T HEAR US BUT ALL'LLAH CAN. Thats my point.

You removed a link to FFI in Apostasy in Islam

Reference to your edit here, that FFI link has been in the article since a long time - why did you remove it only now? Further, the link points to the page in FFI where there's a list of people who left Islam and their testimonies. Thats relevant to the article.
