Hello. I believe sensationalised and unfounded theories on a historical figure's life should not be included on Wikipedia. Leave the baseless speculation on siblings being secret children to the tabloid magazines. And as for referring to Barry as a man, it is well known that this was his desire in life. I believe we should respect the express wishes of the dead. He lived and died as a man. He should have the same respect as other historical figures have, to be remembered for his incredible actions and not for information that he sought to keep private. If we are not allowed to call him a man on Wikipedia despite his clear desire to be recognised as a man, then we should not be allowed to call any historical figure by "he" or "she." I would like to know why he is treated so differently? 37.158.9.191 (talk) 16:18, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Peaceray. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to James Barry (surgeon) seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please see WP:censorship. Please also consider the WP:VNT essay, which states in a nut graph: Editors may not add content solely because they believe it is true, nor delete content they believe to be untrue, unless they have verified beforehand with a reliable source. You removed sourced material solely because you believed to be wrong, without provide sources to counter the material. As WP:BRD suggests, please discuss on the Talk:James Barry (surgeon) before attempting these edits again. Peaceray (talk) 15:57, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
