Welcome!

Hello, 224jeff6, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place helpme before the question. helpmeCan someone help me with this signature: <font face="Chiller" size="5.0" font color="MediumBlue">224jeff6</font><font color = "Red"> Talk</font>

But I don't know what I would have to enter to make it a raw signature (post your response here) -- 224jeff6/Talk (talk) 15:31, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unless I misunderstand your question, you simply need to click on the "my preferences" link at the very top of this page, check raw signature, and enter the signature code in the field provided there.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:39, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

helpme I need to know what that would be if it was in Wiki markup. When I check the "raw signature" box, it says "invalid; check HTML tags". 224jeff6/Talk (talk) 20:21, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

<font face="Chiller" font color="MediumBlue">224jeff6</font> <span style="color:Red;">Talk</span> Try that. Mønobi 20:48, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
helpmeThat didn't work either. I don't even know what Wiki markup is.

Double check why that error is popping up. It's probably because you have spaces on an html tag attribut:::e (i.e., something = "value" as opposed to something="value"). Cheers. --slakrtalk / 21:10, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and you also have an attribute without a value (<font face="Chiller" font color="..."> --slakrtalk / 21:12, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wiki markup just means the language that Wikipedia pages are written in, i.e. the code that you see when you click "edit this page", and includes things like double brackets meaning internal links, colons at the beginnings of lines indenting the text, etc. I suppose the html tags that work on Wikipedia pages might also be considered part of the wiki markup language. Possibly the parser that parses the signature might be slightly different from the parser that parses Wikipedia pages (e.g. why can't you put images in the signature?), or possibly when you copy and paste the code in, you're accidentally inserting line breaks, or something. You could play around with it: try making a signature with just one small part, e.g. start with just your username and see if that will display, then add a pair of font tags and see if that will display, etc., gradually building up the signature and testing it each time. Then you'll probably discover which part of the code you want to put in is causing problems. Oops, I'm going to be signing this with a test signature, because I was playing around with signatures to try to help you out :-) (user Coppertwig) --testing signature userpage 22:21, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, Jonathan makes custom signatures for people, (I think maybe for anyone who requests it, I'm not sure), so he may be able to help you. --Coppertwig (talk) 22:23, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'm testing your signature. This is actually me, Coppertwig, but here's a signature with everything except the "font color="MediumBlue"", which seems to be the part causing trouble for some reason I don't know: <font face="Chiller" size="5.0"> 224jeff6</font><font color = "Red"> Talk</font> (talk) 22:30, 17 February 2008 (UTC) (Coppertwig (talk))[reply]
OK, that didn't work. I had forgotten to click "raw signature". Trying again: 224jeff6 Talk 22:34, 17 February 2008 (UTC) (Coppertwig (talk))[reply]
This time I'm purposely not checking "raw signature", so you can see the code I'm using. I think I found the problem!!! You had an extra word "font" before "color="MediumBlue"". <font face="Chiller" size="5.0" color="MediumBlue">224jeff6</font><font color = "Red"> Talk</font> (talk) 22:37, 17 February 2008 (UTC) (Coppertwig (talk))[reply]
OK, now let's see how the above code displays: 224jeff6 Talk 22:38, 17 February 2008 (UTC) (Coppertwig (talk))[reply]
So that explains it. You only need the word "font" once inside the angle brackets, and you can then have a list such as face="Chiller" size="5.0" etc. and for color you just need color="MediumBlue". The extra word "font" before "color="MediumBlue"" was ignored by the parser that parses pages, but the slightly different parser that parses signatures choked on it. --Coppertwig (talk) 22:42, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome! It was fun! Glad to help out! Now I know how to do signatures, in case I ever suddenly get inspired to change mine. --Coppertwig (talk) 23:38, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User page design[edit]

Hi 224jeff6. For my borders and the 'Welcome to the...' header, I took the code from this:[1], (I just cut-and-pasted the code from the pink border example that says 'Welcome' at the top) and then tweaked the colors, border width etc. until I got it to my liking. This took a lot of trial-and-error and previewing. Take a look at that page - if you want your page to more closely resemble that one, then use the code from it, or, if you want your page to more closely resemble mine, go ahead and take the code from my page, and then change the colors or whatever to what you want when adding it to your page. Again, this is for the borders, colors, etc.

For the general page design or layout, I kind of came to that on my own, after looking at a number of different pages, so its not really from one specific 'place'. For more general design help, you can get a lot of it from here:[2]. This site has a lot of general tips to use on userpage design.

Feel free to ask me anything else that you have questions about, either here or on my talk. If you're new, working with the code can be a bit tricky, so I would be happy to help with this. (Small note - if you respond on my talk page, go ahead and add the question to the section you already started, which I moved to the bottom of my page, as it's new.) AlexiusHoratius (talk) 19:58, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Signature[edit]

I have not done this myself, as you can see, I use the standard default signature, but try going to WP:Signature, and then go down to the 'Customize' section, this should explain most of what you need. It looks like you need to click on 'My preferences', at the top right of the page, and then type the wikitext into the 'signature' box. See how that works. AlexiusHoratius (talk) 21:36, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What happened when you typed the code you wanted into the 'my preferences' signature box? It looks like it is generally in proper form, although there may be something else at work, like a bracket here or there that is off. Try typing the code you put on my talk page into that box again. Unfortunately, like I said earlier, I'm not too familiar with signature customization, you may want to ask the editor who welcomed you, User:Carerra, if simply typing the code into the signature box doesn't work, as it looks as though Carerra has customized their signature. Hi Jeff![edit]

Ok so you like cars to huh? Cool. So this is what you do. Type in WP:Automoniles in the search bar. There you should add the userbox that they give you to your page. Just add your name to the list. Now I will tell you how to do that! Ok so any user box you want to put on your page will have some kind of code so you just copy and paste that. For example, If you wanted to put a userbox about a mitsubishi lancer, the code would be in these thingamajigs {{.You just copy that and paste it on your page. Easy enough right? Nice meeting you!!! -- Carerra "I love Lancers!" 16:11, 17 February 2008 (UTC) Hi again jeffy. Ok, nice user page. I like it. What are you in high school? I really got to get used to this... oh, well. So why do you like Buicks? The average age of a Buick driver is 63 mate C,mon! -- Carerra "I help newcomers!" 11:47, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcoming[edit]

Hi, you had a concern with my placing of welcomeg on User talk:Brucepodge. I don't see what is wrong with doing that, it provides a bunch of useful links for new users. I am not a member of the Welcoming Committee or anything, but I do sometimes spend a few minutes welcoming. Seems to me that welcomeg works fine. Car[edit]

As you may already know I problably know the most about cars in New England (not to brag) but that Porsche Carerra GT you got is the 9th most expensive car in the world. And the Enzo Ferrari.. can't you only get one of those if you have a F40 Spyder? Well I think you should change your signiture to like a red or rainbow. I'm trying to do that. -- Carerra"Chatter" 12:19, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cars[edit]

Well the only nice cars I see is a Porsche Cayman that a guy living near me has and a Bentley Continental that is parked somewhere everyday. Now there is a type of Ferrari that can only be obtained if you have another type and that is the Enzo and F40. Strange that you see that stuff every day and all I see is... a Lancer and an MR2. -- Carerra"Chatter" 21:24, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jimbo[edit]

Of course I know who Jimbo is. He's my idol! I thought he was married. Oh well, I broke up with my girlfriend last month but now we're back together and I feel guilty! -- Carerra"Chatter" 22:47, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I want to find that note. -- Carerra"Chatter" 22:56, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Photo copyright[edit]

Please do not upload photographs to Wikipedia under incorrect copyright claims. This is not your picture (or your car) and you cannot claim to enter it into the public domain. Same applies to the Gillet Vertigo, which was not produced by you and is in fact a publicity image available on Gillet's website. Same also goes for this, which is not even a Gemballa Carrera GT in the first place. All will be nominated for deletion. Do not continue to lie when uploading photographs. The359 (talk) 17:08, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

While we're at it, the Lamborghini Murcielago photo is marked for deletion as well. Please do not simply search Google to find pictures to upload to Wikipedia, especially as it makes it easy to find where you actually got the pictures from. The359 (talk) 07:39, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violation in Image:Enzo.jpg[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Enzo.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Enzo.jpg is unquestionably copyright infringement, and no assertion of permission has been made.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Enzo.jpg, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Don't[edit]

Don't leave messages on my talk page from single-purpose sockpuppet accounts pretending to be your brother (funny how User:Ketchup Krew only has two edit ever on Wikipedia, in which they simply give you an award), don't make false claims about cars you don't own, and don't attempt to attract any sort of sympathy or lenience on what you are doing by made up stories of hospital bull.

You can claim to own cars all you want, but that does not in any way give you the right to steal other people's pictures, and then claim that you took the photos yourself and release the picture into the public domain. Especially when you clearly do not actually know what the cars are that you are uploading, such as the "Gemballa Carrera GT" that looks nothing like the actual Gemballa Mirage.

Your account seems to serve little purpose beyond serving as a home for your monstrosity of a user page, and you appear to have made very little actual edits to improve Wikipedia. I suggest you actual start editing Wikipedia (if you actually remain), and not trying to turn this into a social networking website. The359 (talk) 21:56, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the prod template to the article War of Don Ladislao, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the prod template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/224jeff6 for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page. STORMTRACKER 94 Go Sox! 14:11, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
