May 2020[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Street Angel (1937 film) has been reverted.
Your edit here to Street Angel (1937 film) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bepkAly1F9E&list=PLhA05Qf-09xBaz_t_ynYbyZ-Porcj7bui&index=8&t=1s) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. music or video) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Zheng Junli. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it.

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did at Princess Iron Fan (1941 film), you may be blocked from editing. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings.

Your continuous additions of YouTube / your remark on User talk:XLinkBot[edit]

Hi, thank you for your message. You are indeed not spamming, but your continuous additions of Youtube links are inappropriate. We are not writing an internet directory here. Please heed the messages of the bot and stop adding these (often inline) youtube links (and it similarly also goes for some of the other links you insist in adding). Please, stop. --Dirk Beetstra T C 05:42, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Dirk. You acknowledge that I am not spamming, but you do not explain why you believe the links to be inappropriate. It is not enough just to say "stop" without providing a rationale. More to the point, I would appreciate your advice on enabling the types of improvements to Wiki I am trying to make. Specifically, what is the best way to refer Wiki users to YouTube videos that constitute relevant data and primary materials related to the Wiki article? Thank you 207.102.87.75 (talk) 23:32, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The explanation is given by the bot. Read WP:EL and WP:NOT and read what the bot and I have to tell you. I see now that there is a lot of cleaning up to do behind you. Dirk Beetstra T C 17:29, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
