Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Jai Ho (film) may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. Hello 125.16.128.122. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Brahmananda Giri".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Brahmananda Giri}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 14:01, 18 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edits on the Southern Style[edit]

First, let me say that I'm very happy to meet another student of Kalaripayattu here! I'm so glad that to meet one here on Wikipedia.

I am predominantly practicing the Northern style, but have started learning certain parts of the Southern style on the recommendation of my gurukkal. He said that Kalaripayattu consists of both styles, and it is better to have at least a basic understanding of both styles to gain a better understanding of what Kalaripayattu is.

As for my source, my source is actually my gurukkal. When I began learning Thekkan Kalari, I asked him why Thekkan Kalari was different from Vadakkan Kalari, and why it placed more emphasis on unarmed combat than Vadakkan Kalari did. He was the one who told me that Thekkan Kalari was originally the same as Vadakkan Kalari, but may have been altered due to influence from Tamil martial arts during wars with the Cholas and Pandayas in ancient times. The logical assumption would be that it was altered to counter Tamil soldiers, most of whom were trained in Tamil martial arts like Silambam and Varmakalai.

However, I understand your concern, and I will ask him for an actual source for this when I go to the kalari this evening :)

I actually tried to find a solid source online for it, but could not find anything conclusive. There seems to be a LOT of debate as to which styles influenced Thekkan Kalari. In light of your answer, I will edit the answer to highlight this debate. If I can get a proper source from my gurukkal, I will be sure to include it as well.

Thank you for your feedback! :) Kalariwarrior (talk) 07:11, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
