- @Elisa.rolle: Ok. I'd really recommend upgrading, especially considering all the places you're going, it'll definitely be worth it to get something like the D7200. I upgraded from a 3100 (same essentially as the 3000) to a 5100 and then the 7100, and it's way better. If you don't already, I'd also recommend shooting in RAW; that allows you to later go into Photoshop or similar programs to get rid of distortion (happens with almost every building photo) and correct overexposed or underexposed photos, as well as other things. ɱ (talk) · vbm · coi) 00:02, 31 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi, I saw you recently reverted my changes to the New York State article. Reason for the change was that the article describes the growth patterns in the state, but a simple perusal of info found on other wikipedia pages showed it wasn't accurate. For example, it listed Rochester as an example of a city whose growth is not stagnant, but in fact the Rochester metro has barely grown since the year 2000 and the metro has actually shrunk since 2010. It also listed Saratoga county as well as the capital district as 'growing considerably' when in fact the capital district outside Saratoga county has actually been shrinking in recent years. Recommendations for journalism training
First of all, any, if not all of what you learn about writing in Wikipedia is not about journalistic writing. If you have not started college, but you are planning to do so, there are several websites that list schools, or programs you might be interested in. If you are still in high school, my advice would be to make an appointment with a career, or guidance counselor there. - I'm not sure what you mean by 'sources'. There are a variety of style-books such as the AP style-book ( https://www.apstylebook.com/) out there, but again, I want to point out there is a distinct difference between what you can learn from them and what you may have already learned from the ongoing group-think philosophy of Wikipedia. If you are looking for a mentor from the news-writing industry as a source for advice...especially if it involves writing for Wikipedia...it might be best to write a letter to a particular editor for suggestions, as I believe most take Wikipedia with a grain of salt. ––→ StephenTS42 (talk) 16:02, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

Really? COI Investigation? I know we disagree any you probably don't like me, but why would you assert something so silly? I edit companies with a presence in the CT area, and this happens to be one. My account has been active since 2014, and the only edit I have made to that page before this was adding the logo. - Hi there User:Ɱ, getting back to you on this. I added citations showing growth rates in NY counties. Ithaca and Rochester in the old version were listed as places that were growing, new text makes it clear that Ithaca is growing, doesn't make sense to cite Rochester as 0.4% for Monroe County is unremarkable in the up or down direction. If they were examples of decline then they were poorly chosen, counties like Niagara are declining much more. Additionally, the new text clarifies that Saratoga county specifically, within the capital region, is growing. The rest of the capital region is growing below the state average so the verbiage "growing considerably" is hardly appropriate. Link to new edit Before you revert this again, I'd appreciate it if you would consider the guidelines for reverting commits established by the community in Wikipedia:Reverting, specifically the language "Reverting is appropriate mostly for vandalism or other disruptive edits. The Wikipedia edit warring policy forbids repetitive reverting. If you see a good-faith edit which you feel does not improve the article, make a good faith effort to reword instead of reverting it. Similarly, if you make an edit which is good-faith reverted, do not simply reinstate your edit – leave the status quo up, or try an alternative way to make the change that includes feedback from the other editor." I'm working to incorporate your feedback. If that source is disconcerting, you might take your concerns to a broader forum. We probably have a couple of thousand articles where Ullmann's is the cornerstone ref. You have somehow located an article with a statement that you dont like that is backed by a tertiary source. Yes, it would be lovely if every statement had multiple tertiary or secondary sources, but Wikipedia is not there yet. Look at the articles in my chemistry area. We are barely hanging on. And when we get an article with multiple references including a tertiary one, we are feeling mighty good. Then we move on and find articles with no good cites or shitty cites, and we upgrade them. But to have someone who apparently knows little about a topic to jump and start demanding multiple support for a statement they dont like? Yes that action ticks me off. - I have done a lot of editing in the food area. It is a problem partly because of sourcing (like I was just ranting about). Hair dyes, deicing, shampoo, toothpaste, baking soda, carbonated drinks, on and on. The intersection of consumer goods and chemistry/physics is a real gap. BTW, Ullmann's is a good source for info on that stuff. But what is really needed are some basic textbooks on food science. Thank you for your response. I am a meat-eater, and I do not think slaughter is POV at all-it is a common descriptor of killing animals specifically for food. The fact that he might justify (or rationalize) "slaughter" of animals on grounds of soullessness does not prove that he would approve of, say, the "killing" of roosters in cockfights. To mention what soullessness means to him (that humans, not animals, will live after death) is to understand what he means when he mentions the "souls" of humans that animals lack. It also sheds light on the way he thinks-one can see how he might see it as OK to slaughter animals but not engage in factory farming (at least in its grossest forms) in view of eternity and the animals' mortality!
