This is my opinion of how the Playable Characters table on the Super Smash Bros. (series) page should look. I would try to convince others that this is the way to go, but tempers seem to be running high over there, so I'll just keep this to myself until the situation cools down, which probably won't happen until March 9, 2008.

Playable characters[edit]

The characters are listed in order of appearance and re-appearance, standard characters listed before unlockable characters. Orange check marks indicate unlockable characters.

Notes:
^1 In Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl, Sheik is not a stand alone character but a transformation of Princess Zelda.
^2 In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Captain Olimar is active on the battle field and can pluck the Pikmin, but cannot perform certain attacks without them. [1]
^3 In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Pokémon Trainer stays in the background while the player takes direct control of Squirtle, Ivysaur, or Charizard. The set is listed under the name "Pokémon Trainer".
^4 In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Samus Aran can become Zero Suit Samus when her armor is destroyed, which occurs after performing a Final Smash. She will regain the armor if she performs another Final Smash. [2]
