The Public Archive of Minas Gerais is currently a directorate of the Superintendence of Libraries, Museums, Public Archives and Cultural Equipments. It was created by the Law n. 126, of July 11, 1895 during the term of State President Chrispim Jacques Bias Fortes, who sanctioned it with the referendum of the Secretary of Interior Affairs Henrique Augusto de Oliveira Diniz, whose secretary the body was linked to.
