From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Greetings from the Xaosdog. I am an American, born in New York, New York in 1969 to an English father and a Texan mother. I have an AB in cognitive science-psycholinguistics and comparative literature from Brown University (where I studied, among other things, Old Norse language and literature and ancient mediterranean religions), an MA in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, an MS in cognitive science from the University of California at San Diego, and a JD from the University of Michigan Law School.

Right now, I'm screwing around with making this page for the sole purpose of getting comfortable with the Wikipedia formatting tools.

My Plans for the Wikipedia[edit]

I became interested in contributing to the Wikipedia when I found an article on Norse cosmology that contained numerous errors, guesses masquerading as fact, and the like. I posted a critique of the page on its discussion area, and Wikipedian Haukur, who seems to also maintain the cognomen Haukurth, and who had already noted problems with the article, deleted the page in response.

I have all but committed to replace the article with what amounts to an ambitious attempt to present everything known about Old Norse cosmology in a single place. Although this is not going to be a Herculean task, so far as I can tell it has not really been done before (neither here nor elsewhere). I hope Haukur will help!

I think in so doing I/we will be revamping a lot of the other Norse mythology articles as well. Please wish me/us luck!
