 | This user account is a bot that uses AutoWikiBrowser, operated by Traveler100 (talk). It is used to make repetitive automated or semi-automated edits that would be extremely tedious to do manually, in accordance with the bot policy. This bot does not yet have the approval of the community, or approval has been withdrawn or expired, and therefore shouldn't be making edits that appear to be unassisted except in the operator's or its own user and user talk space. To stop this bot until restarted by the bot's owner, edit its talk page. If that page is a redirect, edit that original redirecting page, not the target of the redirect. Situation[edit]
Wikipedia:WikiProject History of photography is migrating to Wikipedia:WikiProject Photography and in doing so a number of task forces with sub-topics have been created. Articles currently have no task force tags in the WikiProject banners so are all in the main Wikipedia:WikiProject Photography.
Proposal[edit]
To use article category assignment to identify which task force should be added to the WikiProject banner.
pre-requisites[edit]
- talk pages with duplicate {{WikiProject History of photography}} and {{WikiProject Photography}} to be addresses so only one banner.
- agreement from WikiProject participants on naming and organisation of task-forces.
- redirect of {{WikiProject History of photography}} to {{WikiProject Photography}}.
Specification[edit]
Use AWB automatic bot user in bot mode to
- Go through article talk pages of articles of:-
- categories under Category:photographers, Category:cameras and similar categories
- If article talk page is also in Category:WikiProject Photography (contains WikiProject Photography or associated redirected banner)
- replace redirect banners name with {{WikiProject Photography}} (keeping other parameters as is)
- add appropriate task force parameter
Method of identifying articles[edit]
Go through each sub-category of say... Photogrphers. Then for each subcategory fill a list from that category, remove non mainspace, convert to talk pages, then save that list as a text file. Then fill a list from Category:Wikipedia Photography. Then select "filter", uncheck all the check boxes (except remove duplicate and sort alphabetically), then in the set operations group box, select intersection, open file, navigate to the saved list, press apply.
