I am an independent ICT consultant and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the Australian National University (ANU), in Canberra.

Recently I have designed a course on Green ICT for the Computer Professional Education Program of the Australian Computer Society. The ACS CPeP program is accredited by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), created under the auspices of UNESCO. Most of the course content is available as free open source.

At ANU I teach the design of web sites, e-commerce and professional ethics (most of my lecture notes are free online). As well, I have an interest in architecture and environmental design and have been invited as a guest lecturer on the effects of ICT on urban design for the Bauhaus Dessau and on smart apartment design at the University of Canberra.

In January 2017 I was awarded a Master of Education in Distance Education by Athabasca University. My Capstone e-Portfolio and a book based on my studies "Digital Teaching In Higher Education: Designing E-learning for International Students of Technology, Innovation and the Environment" are available on-line.

I have been an expert witness in several court cases involving international patent, computer, web and Internet issues, as well as advising governments and companies on ICT problems. Best known is Maguire v SOCOG 2000, concerning the accessibility of the Sydney 2000 Olympic web site for disabled people.

I am a Past President, Fellow and Honorary Life Member of the Australian Computer Society, a voting member of the Association for Computing Machinery and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The book "Net Traveller" is available on-line and based on some of my work.
