The legislature comprised of 460 members, 360 of whom were elected in the 1977 Indonesian legislative election, while the remaining 100 were appointed by the government. Unlike other periods of the People's Representative Council, its leadership consisted of two different speakers. The first, Adam Malik, served until his appointment to the vice presidency. While the second, Daryatmo, was elected to replace him. In addition to the two speakers, there were five different deputy speakers who served during the period, including Mashuri Saleh, Masjkur, Kartidjo, Mohammad Isnaeni, and Hardjantho Soemodisastro.[1]
