Evidence

My primary concern on this filing is with Pax Arcane and Egyegy.

I will downright admit that I am reluctant to file this request, as I have filed at least one previous request of someone who was just a ridiculously obvious sockpuppet, and it would have been turned down had he not admitted to it (see Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Basketball fan24111). However, it seems to me that Pax Arcane and Egyegy are the Good cop sock accounts of User:Runtshit

Evidence:

Also:

  • User has been warned of personal attacks:[6] [7], a commons trait, I have noticed, for sockpuppets of banned users.
  • Egyegy has also been warned and blocked for personal attacks.
  • Every user above, with the exception of Pax Arcane, has been blocked in the past for persistent 3RR and/or sockpuppetry problems.
  • There have been no autoblocks for run of the mill vandalism, which one would expect.

Pax Arcane claims to use an anonymizer (which is prohibited by policy), an credible assertion given the wide range of IPs with which he has edited. I have reported all these IPs to open proxies for checking. However, the anonymizer would have to work in the same way every time: it would have to route all traffic through the same computer, rather than making it random and pushing it through different computers for different users (sounds like a lousy anonymizer, whatever it is).

Evidence against:

  • Each of the users has edited mainly in one area of interest, and the areas of interest appear to be so disparate that sockpuppetry is appearing more and more unlikely (e.g., Egyptian things for Egyegy, Brazilian things for Lulu, Israeli and socialist things for Runtshit, Landmark Education material for Pax, and scientific/California related articles for Scibaby). The coincidences still seems odd (this many users all editing articles only which they are interested in, little anonymous editing), but it appears they may be that: coincidences. The exceptions, of course, are the two different users caught in the autoblock who appear to be socks of Runtshit.
Comments

The Runtshit connection is clearly false. Runtshit is a serial vandal, dedicated to wikistalking me and posting offensive and libellous comments about Roland Rance. I am not aware of his/her use of the IP 207.195.245.98; but in any case, this is an open proxy (which has been banned for five years), so any vandal could have used it. Runtshit has a very charavteristic modus operandi, and this is entirely out of the loop. RolandR (talk) 17:13, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Conclusions

I used Anonymizer solidly for a while, infrequently, and now I don't use it while editing WP. I've edited on multiple machines but always logged in as much as possible. And I don't know any of the users listed on this page with the exception of TheEvilSpartan, who accused me of being a sockpuppet. His case is very, very weak...and reading it now, it seems pathetic to include me. --Pax Arcane 04:37, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
