The 1912 Caudron was an early French aircraft designed by Rene Caudron
Development[edit]
A 2 seat unequal span biplane with what was to become the characteristic layout of Caudron aircraft, having a small nacelle mounted between the two wings, containing the crew accommodation and the engine. The tail surfaces were carried on four booms, the upper pair connected to the upper wing mainspar and the lower pair ....skids. Single horizontal surface, unusual in that it operated by being warped: this was linked to the wing warping control so that the surface would augment tlateral control, as well as acting as an elevator , with a pair of rectangular balanced rudders above, no fixed fin. angle of incidence adjustable on the ground. Design and development[edit]
a development of the earler aircraft designed by Rene Caudron and built in conjunction with his brother Gaston,
the G.2 was a two-seat unequal span tractor configuration two-bay biplane, the inner bay being around half the span of the outer.
Produced in both single and two-seat versions, the single-seater powered by a 35 hp (26 kW) 3-cylinder Anzani engine, and the two-seater by a 60 hp (45 kW) 6-cylinder Anzani.
The wings were of unusual construction, having one spar forming the leading edge and the second at approximately mid-chord, so that much of the wing area was supported only by the ribs. The forward part of the wing was double-surfaced: aft of the second spar the ribs were enclosed in pockets in the fabric covering. The large rectangular tailplane was of similar construction, and the control arrangements were similarly unorthodox; [[wing-warping was used for lateral control, but rather than using a hinged elevator(aircraft) the tailplane could be warped uniformly for pitch control or differentially to augment the wing-warping.
