The Avian-Equis War ( a part of the Great Conflicts) was a series military conflicts against Equestria and its allies by Gryphonian Empire that run from 3 AD - 15 AD. It begun November 1 3AD, when the Gryphonian Empire launched a surpise attack to reclaim Minos and Smyrna from Equestria. In response, Equestria formed the Equis Coalition, comprised of Equestrian Allies and Colonies, to counter back the attacks. The war was primarily due to the Equestrian land distribution after the Fall of Discord towards the Gryphonian Empire and the growth of nationalism across both nations.
