Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) is a collection of 10,000 algorithmically-generated ape profile pictures. Each avatar is a unique non-fungible token (NFT) that exists on the Ethereum blockchain.

The project was launched on April 30, 2021 by Yuga Labs.[citation needed] Owners of a Bored Ape NFT are granted access to a private online club and intellectual property rights for the image.[1]

As of November 2021, sales of bored apes had totaled approximately $1 billion.[2]

Appearance[edit]

Each Bored Ape NFT depicts a grumpy-looking ape with an unimpressed expression. They can be mutated by "drinking" one of the 10,000 "serums" Yuga Labs awarded to owners of pre-existing Apes.[2]
