User:Stifle/User talk templates are useful

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So, someone came up with the idea that once a user has been around for some unspecified time, leaving a talk page template on their user talk page is a cardinal sin.

Here's a newsflash. Talk page templates exist because they say things that are said often to various people. They save the sender from having to write an individual talk page message when the template says everything they have to say. That's why I and other users use them.

Obviously those that say "welcome to Wikipedia" shouldn't be sent to non-new users, but everyone else shouldn't really be complaining.

Particularly the templates about page deletion - people complain if they aren't notified about page deletion, and then they complain as well when I leave the {{prodwarning}} for them.
