Gayatri Vidya Parishad (GVP), a pioneering Educational Society was established and registered on 28th September 1988 with a view to serving the cause of higher education by an ardent group of erudite academicians, and industrialists. Late Prof. B. Sarveswara Rao, Former Professor of Economics, Andhra University, Economic Advisor to Govt. of East Nigeria and former Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University, was the founder president of the GVP (1989-2005). Dr. B. Swamy, a former member of Medical Council of India and former Vice-Chancellor, Acharya Nagarjuna University succeeded him as the President of the society (2005-2009). Sri D.V. ent in 2009. Sri.A.S.N. Prasad has taken over as President in 2014 after the demise of Sri. D.V. Subba Rao. Currently serving as the president of the society is Professor P. Srinivas Rao, who served as the principal of GVPCE and is one of the top most engineers in India.

Gayatri Vidya Parishad Institute of Health Care and Medical Technology (GVPIHCMTC or GVPMC), under the guidance of its founders, is a private and a budding medical institution started in the year 2016 at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. It is being administered by eminent professionals from the medical field and is another feather in the cap of Gayatri Vidya Parishad. Its sister institutions include GVP College of Engineering Autonomous, GVP College for Degree and PG Courses Autonomous, GVP College of Engineering for Women, GVP - MLBT School, and many more. The medical college consists of departments such as anatomy, physiology, bio-chemistry, pathology, pharmacology, forensic medicine, community medicine, and micro biology.

Facilities[edit]

The campus consists of separate buildings for the hospital and the college. It is located at Maridi valley, Marikavalasa, on the outskirts of Visakhapatnam city and is well accessible by NH-16. The nearest airport is the Vizag International Airport and the nearest railway station is the Visakhapatnam Railway Station. The resources in the campus include a canteen, banking facilities, hostels, student service center, pharmacy and much more.

The campus is facilitated with fully functional laboratories, lecture halls, theatres and wards and is well equipped with modern equipment to provide healthy and fair service to the patients and a proper means of learning for the students.

The hospital provides various services such as a blood bank, clinical laboratories, emergency services, pharmacy, radio diagnostic services, physiotherapy, etc.

Library[edit]

The library is situated on the top floor of the medical college block. It is well equipped with modern facilities and houses many of the latest books and journals. The library remains open until 9 in the evening and is accessible by students and faculty.

Hostels and quarters[edit]

The campus hosts separate hostel blocks for both men and women and has quarters for doctors and nurses. All the hostels have their own cooking and dining rooms supervised by different in-charges and only serves vegetarian cuisine. The hostels and quarters are well equipped with all amenities.

Transportation[edit]

The college provides transportation facilities through own buses for both students and staff from the city. During working days, multiple trips towards the city are facilitated for the students who are involved in extra-curricular activities or additional coursework.

Health centers within and outside the city[edit]

The urban health center is located opposite to Visakha eye hospital in Pedha Waltair, Vizag and the rural health center is located in Paderu village of the vizag district. Both these health centers are connected to the main hospital and are open for service 24x7.

Sports[edit]

The institution provides has both indoor and outdoor sporting facilities with a multi-station gym, table tennis and Cricket turfs. Apart from these, Cricket practicing nets, and 2 spacious grounds for tennis, volleyball, badminton, etc are available for the students.

Affiliation[edit]

The institution is affiliated to Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh and is approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India under section 10A of the the India Medical Council Act of 1956. Permission has been granted by the ministry for the admission of the 5th batch 2020-21.
