Great Stone Face Millard County Utah[edit]

The North Side

The Pahvant valley in Millard County Utah has several ancient lava flows or extinct volcanoes. The one known as "Black Rock" is located seventeen miles South West of Delta Utah and has a formation known as "The Great Stone Face" or "The Guardian of the desert",[1] which protrudes about four stories above the general elevation of "Black Rock". The Great Stone Face is said to resemble the profile of Joseph Smith [2]

Native American Petroglyphs Near The Great Stone Face[edit]

At ground level within view of "The Great Stone Face" there is a large, smooth-faced rock with native American petroglyphes. The writings are thought to illustrate the meandering Sevier River as a division of territory.[3]
