.All the students of Dhaka University have to be associated with one or another hall as residential / non-residential students. At present the university has 14 halls for students and 5 halls for female students. There are also separate hostels for students of the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Institute of Business Administration and international dormitories for foreign students.
RESIDENTIAL HALLS[edit]
SALIMULLAH MUSLIM HALL[edit]
The journey of this hall started in 1921 with the university. Its main building was built in the late twenties. The first provost of this hall was Professor AF Rahman. The first name of this hall was Muslim Hall, but later this hall was named after Nawab Nawab Salimullah of Dhaka. About ten years after the establishment of Dhaka University, a dormitory was proposed in his name on the occasion of the death anniversary of Nawab Sir Salimullah. The hall was then built for Muslim boys.Abdullah Suhrawardy said that this hall should be made Salimullah Muslim Hall. The present Salimullah Muslim Hall was then built and named after Salimullah.......
DR.MUHAMMAD SHAHIDULLAH HALL[edit]
One of the traditional halls of Dhaka University. At first the name of this hall was Dhaka Hall. The hall was renamed Shahidullah Hall in 1989 after the famous Asian scholar, Gyantapas Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall. Later on June 17, 2016, the hall was renamed as Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall. In this case, there are a total of 06 buildings.
JAGANNATH HALL[edit]
Jagannath Hall is a special hall reserved for the minority students of Dhaka University, including the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian community. Jagannath Hall is one of the first three halls of Dhaka University.
On 15 October 1985, the roof of a residential building in the ancient Jagannath Hall collapsed, causing a tragic accident. 39 students, staff and guests lost their lives in this. Since then, the day has been observed as Dhaka University Mourning Day on an annual basis. The October Memorial Building and Memorial were built in memory of the victims.
FAZLUL HAQ MUSLIM HALL[edit]
The hall was named Fazlul Haque Hall after the then Prime Minister of undivided Bengal, AK Fazlul Haque. The journey of this hall started on July 1, 1940 with 363 students. In addition to the main building, it has an extended building known as Dakshin Bhavan. The number of residential students is 6 and the number of non-resident students is 998. Professor Dr. Shah Md. Masum is the current Provost of this Hall.
MARTYR SEARGENT JOHURUL HAQ HALL[edit]
At first the name of this hall was Iqbal Hall. After the independence of Bangladesh in 1971, it was named after Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall, one of the 35 accused in the Agartala conspiracy case who was shot dead by Pakistanis. The number of residential students is 650 and the number of non-resident students is 1623.
ROKEYA HALL[edit]
Rokeya Hall started its journey in 1938 as the first residential female student hall of Dhaka University with only 12 female students in Chameli House. Named "Rokeya Hall" in 1984, Begum Rokeya was originally a pioneer of women's awakening in the Indian subcontinent. Mrs. Akhter Imam was the first provost of this hall. During the war of liberation in 1971, the then resident students were brutally tortured by the Pakistani army and middlemen.The students of Rokeya Hall have played a courageous role through various movements in Bangladesh and Dhaka University.
At present this dormitory is home to more than three thousand students. There are four buildings for undergraduate students: Shapla (main), Chameli (new), Suryamukhi (extended) and 7 March building. There is a building for postgraduate and MPhil students - Faizunnesa building.
The building was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself on March 7, 2016.
There are also provost bungalows and residential teachers' residences adjacent to the hall. Each year the Rokeya Hall Authority awards the "Rokeya Gold Medal" to meritorious students.
MASTARDA SURYASEN HALL[edit]
Masterda Suryasen Hall was established in 1964 during the tenure of the then government of Pakistan. Initially the name of this residential hall was Jinnah Hall. After the independence of Bangladesh in 1972, the hall was named after the anti-British revolutionary Surya Sen. The six-storey hall in three blocks has about 500 rooms for students. There is also a mosque, a reading room, a library, an auditorium and sports room, a guest room, a computer laboratory and three dining canteens.Professor Dr. is working as the current president of the hall. Maqbool Hossain. In the middle of the residential building is a flower garden and an artificial reservoir and fountain. Notable installations include a Shaheed Minar and a sculptural window in memory of the students and teachers who were martyred in the 1971 Bangladesh War of Independence. The hall is located 100 meters northwest of the Faculty of Business Education of the University. Next to it is the International Hall and the University Administrative Building.Note that the vast space in front of this hall is known as Mall Square.

HAZI MOHAMMAD MOHSIN HALL[edit]
Established 1 January 1986. At present the number of residential students is 600, the number of dual students is 720 and the number of non-resident students is 690. There is a field next to the hall. The hall has three reading rooms and a library (Gias Uddin Library), a dining room and a mess (Foyrots Entertainment). There is a TV room and a games room.
The famous writer of Bengali literature Humayun Ahmed used to stay in room 574 of this hall. Sitting here he has written many of his famous books.
Besides, General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Obaidul Quader also lived in this hall.
SAMSUN NAHAR HALL[edit]
She is the second student of Dhaka University. The hall is named after the eminent writer and poet Shamsun Nahar Mahmud.
POET JASHIM UDDIN HALL[edit]
The hall was named after the village poet Jasim Uddin in the post-independence period. The hall has two attached buildings of 5 storeys. The hall has two reading rooms, a TV room, a paper room, a games room, canteen and a mess. , Debating Clubs and Voluntary Blood Donation Organizations. There is a playground next to the hall and a beautiful flower garden at the front.
The special attraction of the hall is the one-stop shop whose acceptance is undoubtedly overwhelming among the students of the university. The hall is known for its pleasant and secluded environment.
The number of residential students is 36 and the number of non-resident students is 69.
SIR AF RAHMAN HALL[edit]
Founded in 1966, the hall was named after Ahmed Fazlur Rahman, the first Bengali Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University and a prominent educationist. The number of residential / dual students is 992 and the number of non-resident students is 695. The location of the hall is at the entrance of the university from Nilkhet.
BANGABANDHU SHEIKH MUJIBUR RAHMAN HALL[edit]
he hall was named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1986. The number of residential students is 464 and the number of non-resident students is 3652. The hall is named to commemorate the FathTer of the Nation.
MARTYR JIAYUR RAHMAN HALL[edit]
The hall was named after the late President freedom fighter Shahid Ziaur Rahman in 1986. The number of residential students in this hall is 1205 and the number of non-resident students is 3652.
BANGLADESH-KUET FRIENDSHIP HALL[edit]
The hall is located in the middle of BGB Gate No. 3, behind New Market, a short distance from the main campus of the university. Next to this hall is the Social Welfare Institute of Dhaka University.
SIR FILIP HARTG INTERNATIONAL HALL[edit]
It was established in 1986 as an international hostel. It was upgraded to a dormitory in 2002. In this case, there are 36 foreign students. In addition, the university has accommodation for 35 young teachers.
AMOR EKUSHE HALL[edit]
The hall was established in 2001. The number of residential students is 425 and non-resident 360.
BANGAMATA SHEIKH FOZILLATUNESSA MUJIB HALL[edit]
Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall was established in the name of the majestic woman Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib. The hall was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on May 7, 2001. This hall has Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Debating Club, Bandhan Organization for Humanitarian Services, Ranger Unit, Library, Three Lesson Rooms. There are also culture practice rooms, auditoriums, internet facilities. Inside the hall there are phones, laundry, photostats and stalls.
BIJOY 71 HALL[edit]
Built at a cost of Tk 59 crore, this is the 19th hall of Dhaka University, built in beautiful architectural style, not only Dhaka University, but also the largest hall of any university in the country. The hall is located between Masterda Suryasen Hall and Zia Hall.
On November 14, 2013, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the new hall. This hall is known as the twin-tower and non-communal hall of Dhaka University. This hall is open to all to keep the spirit of the liberation war high and remember the self-sacrifice of people of all communities. From 2015-16 academic year, students of all religions and castes can stay in this hall.
The three blocks of this hall have been named after the three main rivers of Bangladesh namely Padma, Meghna and Jamuna respectively. The hall has four elevators for students, a well-equipped guest room, a department store, two reading rooms, a computer lab, a counseling room, a hall of parliament (established 2019), a saloon, a spacious hall auditorium and television room, a binding hall branch room, a Indoor Gamesroom (now known as the largest public room of Dhaka University),There is a state-of-the-art gymnasium, a magazine reading room, a library and a huge mosque. POET SUFIA KAMAL HALL[edit]
The hall is named after the poet Sufia Kamal. If the number of accommodation is 1,400. Two 10-storey buildings are lit and suffixed. This hall has a canteen, library, reading room and girls parlor.
HOSTEL[edit]
I.B.A. HOSTEL[edit]
The hostel is located in the Farmgate area of the capital. This hostel is for students of Institute of Business Administration or IBA.
SHAHNEWAZ HOSTEL[edit]
Dhaka University Sir A. F. The dormitory is located behind the New Market Bipani Bitan as an extension of Rahman Hall.
DR.KUDHRAT I KHUDA HOSTEL[edit]
This dormitory is for the students of the Institute of Leather Engineering and Technology. It is located next to the institute in Hazaribagh.
NAWAB FAIJUNESSA CHOWDHURANI GIRLS HOSTEL[edit]
It is located next to Rokeya Hall. It was named after Nawab Faizunnesa Chowdhurani. She is famous for spreading women's education.
