I am a student contributing as part of the Wikipedia: Education program.
Purpose[edit]
We are doing this as part of a class on behalf of a very exciting initiative, which is important for expanding Wikipedia.
Outcome[edit]
We hope to engage student and others with Wikipedia not necessarily as a research tool, but as a educational tool which can be utilized to aid in understandings of various topics.
We have also heard of some schools viewing this as part of their outreach.
Value of the program[edit]
Students in this program have the opportunity to edit Wikipedia in an effort to bring about "The end of throwaway assignments and the beginning of real-world impact for student editors."[1]
