Hansjoachin Schuklenburg is one of the best footballers in German history. He has won two Ballon d'Or Player Of The Year Awards and is currently manager of 1. FSV Wasserbilligerbrück 2012.

Early Life[edit]

Hansjoachin Schuklenburg was born on the 10th September 1993 in Wasserbilligerbrück, a small German village on the German border with Luxembourg, which takes its name from the the nearest Luxembourgish village, Wasserbillig/Waasserbellëg, and the bridge (brück in german) which crosses the border and links the two villages. He is the son of local butcher Karl Schuklenburg and his Luxembourgish wife Eva Schuklenburg (born Eva Pondebruit). He can speak fluent German and Luxembourgish as native languages, and English, French and Dutch as secondary languages.

Youth Career[edit]

on 30th June 2008, Schuklenburg was signed by amateur team 1. FSV 1990 Wasserbilligerbrück based in his home village of Wasserbilligerbrück. He was scouted by Bundesliga teams such as Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and 1. FSV Mainz 05. He left 1. FSV 1990 Wasserbilligerbrück to join 1. FSV Mainz 05 in 2011 after playing for one year in their first team.

Senior Career[edit]

2011-12 Season with 1.FSV Mainz 05[edit]

He was signed by 1.FSV Mainz 05 in July 2011 because the scout thought he had "wonderful ball control, expert skill and the ability to score 7 or 8 goals a game, he has talent that could contend with the likes of Johan Cruyff, Messi and Pele". in his first season in professional football (evidently with 1. FSV Mainz 05) he scored 50 goals in 35 games, leading them to 6th place in the Bundesliga and victory in the DFB-Pokal. For his outstanding performance in his first Professional Season, he won the Bundesliga Young Player of the Year Award.

2012-13 Season with Arsenal[edit]

On July 29th, 2012, Schuklenburg signed a 5 year contract with top level English team Arsenal. He immediately contributed to the "Gunners" title hopes with 28 goals in 38 games, winning the Barclays FA Premier League, 17 points ahead of the second placed team, Manchester City, and 22 points ahead of third place Manchester United. He scored 10 goals in the "Gunners" winning campaign in the Carling Cup, while scoring 4 goals in the FA Cup and 8 goals in the UEFA Champion's League. His performance earnt him the Player Of The Year Award 2013, his second time winning the award in a row.

After the season ended, Schuklenburg had a choice of five teams to move to for the 2013-14 season, these were:

2013-14 Season with Real Madrid CF[edit]

On July 5th 2013 Schuklenburg signed a 3 year deal with Spanish giants Real Madrid CF for a wage of €300,000 a week. He signed with Real Madrid because "they are a top level team and i look forward to an excellent, fruitful and eventful run in the Liga BBVA, Copa del Rey and UEFA Champion's League with Real Madrid and hope to make an excellent contribution to the club this season." In the Supercopa de España, his first match of the season, when pitted against rivals Barcelona he scored 5 times for his team to make them win 6-1.

On March 19th 2014, Schuklenburg scored 8 goals in a 9-0 second leg win over Olympique Lyonnais in a 11-1 aggregate win over there French rivals to go through to the Quarter Finals of the UEFA Champion's League. They (Real Madrid) then beat Manchester City 4-2 to go through to a Semi-Final pairing with German giants Bayern Munich. Real Madrid lost to Atlético Madrid 2-1 in the final of the Copa del Rey, therefore missing out on the potential Domestic treble in Spain. Bayern Munich progressed to the UEFA Champion's League Final after a 4-4 draw which saw Bayern go through on away goals. Schuklenburg was top scorer of the Liga BBVA with 23 goals. He was also top scorer of the UEFA Champion's League with 15 goals, top scorer of the Supercopa de España at the beginning of the season with 7 goals over FC Barcelona, and was third most highest scoring player in the Copa del Rey with 4 goals. Real Madrid claimed the La Liga title. Schuklenburg unfortunately lost out on a third consecutive Player Of The Year Award in the 2013-14 season.

2014-15 season with FC Augsburg (loan)[edit]

on 30th June 2014 Schuklenburg accepted the loan offer from FC Augsburg based on there offer for him to be captain, after being dropped from the team at Real. He was in prolific form, scoring 26 goals in 35 appearances, leading the team to 3rd plce, just 5 points off winners Bayern Munich.

2015-16 season with Manchester City[edit]

After a bad pre-season with [[Real Madrid], Shucklenburg hoped to get back in form and prove himself at the Eastlands after he was purchased for £30,000,000; He did so in maginificent style. He was top scorer in the league with 39 goals, and scored 11 goals in the champions league to be top scorer and he also won the champions league with 9 goals in the 7-0 win in the final against Olympique Lyon.

2016-17 season with Manchester City[edit]

In his second season with City, schuklenburg was the key figure in keeping them in the premier league with a list of 24 goals in the league to keep City at 13th place and securely in the league. They had a disappointing Champions league run but will be content with there - and Schuklenburg's - performance. Although he score 24 goals, the highest amount in the league, he did not pick up the Golden Boot award because the other player who also scored 34 goals, was Wayne Rooney and so Wayne Rooney took the Golden Boot Award because 'R' comes before 'S' in the Alphabet.

2017-18 season with Manchester City[edit]

Schuklenburg stayed with the Eastlands club for his third successive season, among rumours of his retirement from playing football at the end of the season. He scored 6 goals in the first game of the season to get Man City off to a great start in the season. He continued these great scoring runs on and off in random matches of the season to score 23 goals, yet fail to get the golden boot because of Alphabetical order. He announced his retirement on the 1st April 2018 and played his final match - against Swansea City which he scored in, though City lost 2-1 - on 19th April 2018. Manchester City were relegated from the Barclays Premier League to the Football League Championship at the end of the season after finishing 18th win a record of 8 wins, 9 draws and 24 losses.

FSV Wasserbilligerbrück 2012 or 4th placed Foussball-Club Lëtzembuergesch vun der Saar to be promoted in their place, or Eintracht Luxembourgischer Elbling to not be relegated and to keep there spot in the 3.
