Generation Z[edit]

Generation Z or Gen Z is the demographic cohort succeeding Millennial’s and preceding Generation Alpha. Researchers and popular media use the mid-to late 1990s as starting birth years and the early 2010s as ending birth years.[1]

What Characteristics best describes Generation Z?

In my opinion Generation Z is all about:

Technology – From time of their birth, the internet and cell phones were commonplace. Generation Z they are unlike other generations, who either grew up without or came into adulthood during the rises of social media, smartphones, and instant accessibility of information. [2]

Competitive- Generation Z want to work in an environment where inclusion is a priority, and where everybody works together to advance goals. Gen Z, on the other hand, is said to be defined by its competitiveness. They want work on their own and be judged on their own merits rather than those of their team.[3]

Can be like their parents (Gen X)- No matter how much they may try to fight it, Gen Z can be a lot like their Gen X, Millennials, parents. With an individualistic focus and a certain level of skepticism, they are relatively optimistic even if they are not overly trusting.[4]

Some people ask Is generation Z conservative?

Generation Z considers itself more accepting and open minded than any generation before it. Almost half of Gen Zs are minorities, compared to 22% of Baby Boomers, and the majority of Gen Z supports social movements such as Black Lives Matter, transgender rights and feminisms.[5]

What advantages does Generation Z have? [6]
