The 2018 National Invitational Baseball Tournament (NIBT) Series was the inaugural edition of the National Invitational Baseball Tournament, a secondary tournament for teams that did not qualify for the 2018 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. The 32-team tournament began on Tuesday, June 5, 2021, as part of the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season and concluded with the 2021 NIT Championship Series in Brooklyn, New York, starting on June 19 and ending on June 21.

The 32 participating NCAA Division I college baseball teams were selected out of an eligible 297 teams. Eight teams were awarded automatic bids as regular season champions of their conference, but did not win their conference tournament, nor received an at-large bid. The remaining 24 teams were selected at-large by the NIBT Committee. Teams were divided into eight regionals of four teams, each of which will conduct a double-elimination tournament. Regional champions will then face each other in Super Regionals, a best-of-three game series, to determine the four participants in the NIBT Championship Series.

Tournament procedure[edit]

A total of 32 teams entered the tournament, with eight of them receiving an automatic bid by winning their conference's regular season. The remaining 24 bids will be "at-large", with selections extended by the NCAA Selection Committee.

On May 31, the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee announced the eight regional host sites.
