The personal attack rule is taken too far, and invoked too often. E.g. there is no rule against being forthright or even rude but some overly sensitive editors on the receiving end often claim that they have been victims of a personal attack. As a consequence a way of writing has developed at WP to avoid the often false, sometimes true accusation of personal attack. Similarly people seem to think, wrongly, that can avoid offending against WP:CIVIL by being polite. Here, therefore, is a dictionary of what is meant by certain phrases in WP talk and special pages. Some are contrived, and others mealy mouthed, but make no mistake, you need to learn to speak like this if you are to survive. [Oh, I agree, you would be mistaken to think any of this applies to what I write, I write what I mean, word for word.]

If you read this
this is what is meant
internalise your behaviour
shut the fuck up!
that is stupid
you are stupid
