Kotta koteswara rao was a retired principal of regional engineering college at warangal which is now called to be as National Institute of Technology. He was born in sangamjagrlamudi,a small village located near tenali,andhrapradesh.He was joined in civil engineering at college in guindy,madras in 1947.Pursued his graduation in 1951.

He later on,found his interest in field of teaching.And applied for post of junior lecturer in andhra university,vizag.He entered andhra university in the year of 1955.Later engaged in post graduate studies and pursued his masters from university of IOWA,usa by 1960.Again back to his favorite profession in which he found his happiness.

Within a short span of three years,also completed his ph.d.
During mid of 1959's,india's first prime minister pt.jawaharlal nehru had expressed his passion for increasing the number of engineers in India in order to place it forward in group of developing nations.As a result a propsoal had been put-forth by him which demonstrates 8 engineering colleges are to be established in four different zones in india,which are called to be as Regional Engineering Colleges (REC) .As a part of that,the first and foremost college is rec at warangal.

And slowly the fame of RECW had contaminated and started declining since students hang-up with principles of radicals.a student revolutionary committees had found it's way named as RSU(radical students union),PDSU etc...RSS is another group of students opposing above groups.They had strong conflicts among them.
At that time of revolution in RECW,prof.k.koteswara rao garu is appointed as a principal of the college.Due to student activities,funds from central government had suspended.koteswara garu tried his best to every thing on to the track.central government again started issued funds as usual as before.
These activities to curb the radical students made them to turn against the principal.Once he attended a party conducted in a college.A group of students rushed towards koteswara rao garu,but other lecturers carefully made arrangements for his departure from there.But he stood with strong determination at that moment,to solve all problems of RECW that day.activists went away from him without doing any harm.That day has it's significance that,activists were decreased gradually day-by-day from that incident.

During a ruling period of sri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao(NTR),former chief minister,andhrapradesh,a committee for improving the standards of private engineering colleges had taken it's shape.NTR called for koteswara rao garu to lead the committe.The report this committee has brought the following reforms in engineering colleges of andhrapradesh.

  1.capitation fees for admission in engineering colleges was eliminated.

  2.A regulatory exam EAMCET,which is now a well known entrance exam in andhrapradesh to admit in engineering colleges, had been started.  

He also appointed as a member of committee,designed by a central govt. of India,to enhance the quality of graduation in engineering,the committee advised to set a national level regulatory exam for entrance in graduation,all over the India.Which had it's significance as GATE(Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineers).
But unfortunately he had lost his eye-sight completely due to failure of retina.Even though he has been severely suffering due to lack of eyesight and at age of 80 years,currently working as an advisor for GITAM UNIVERSITY,ANITS--Prathyushanindian (talk) 14:40, 7 August 2011 (UTC) etc...,
