Jonas Jonasson is a Swedish author who has stunned the world with the sale of his popular books. He wrote The 100-year-old man who Jumped out the Window and Disappeared (Hundraåringen som Klev ut Genom Fönstret och Försvann), The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden (Analfabeten som Kunde Räkna), and Hitman Anders and the Meaning of it All (Mördar-Anders och hans vänner (samt en och annan ovän)) and is currently writing his fourth book. His most popular book being the first.

Life Before Writing[edit]

Jonas Jonasson was born in Växjö, Sweden in 1961 to an ambulance driver and a nurse. He studied at the University of Gothenburg and shortly thereafter began his writing career as a journalist in which he worked for multiple newspapers in Sweden. He worked for his local town newspaper, Smålandsposten. After discovering that the journalism life wasn't for him he decided to start his own production company. He went through a divorce from his wife. He began writing his first book and according to Jonasson, it took him 47 years to begin writing.

Writing Career[edit]

Jonasson's book "The 100-Year-Old-Man who Jumped out the Window and Disappeared" which was published in 2009 became a sensation around the world. The book has been translated into 45 different languages and has sold 14 million copies world wide. He then came came out with two more books under the English titles, "The Girl who Saved the King of Sweden" and "Hitman Anders and the Meaning of it All". He has a fourth book coming out in 2018. One of Jonasson's most used themes is that of absurdity as all his book contain improbable events that are only possible in the form of a book.

Present[edit]

Jonas Jonasson now lives on the country side in the island of Gotland in Sweden. He lives with his son whom he has sole custody of and he spends his days feeding his chickens and living with his cat, Molotov. He also has a website that allows you to access his life and the meanings of his works.
