FLC review request[edit]

Hi! Since you participated in a previous similar FLC, I would like to request you to review the List of Padma Bhushan award recipients (1980–89) as well and give your comments here. Thanks! §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 07:13, 1 August 2016 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Sacred Jackfruit Tree[edit]

The article Sacred Jackfruit Tree you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Sacred Jackfruit Tree for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already been on the main page as an "In the news" or "Did you know" item, you can nominate it to appear in Did you know. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 08:23, 1 August 2016 (UTC)

I have delisted this one as well. This is more a problem of GA review than anything else. Fram (talk) 08:21, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

Digital Anthropology research[edit]

Hello Nvvchar, My name is Stephanie Barker and I am a student at the University of Colorado Boulder. I am currently enrolled in a Digital Anthropology class, which attempts to answer how the digital world affects culture and how culture affects the digital world. For my final project I am doing an ethnography on women Wikipedia users and as a member of the WikiProject Women page I was hoping I could ask you some questions about your experiences editing Wikipedia pages.

1. Have you ever been locked into an intense editing war? If yes, please explain the situation to me.

  • Not really except for discussions when my articles were pulled out of DYK queue or deleted. Nothing serious. Most of the time issues were resolved but in some cases I have accepted the deletions where there were genuine errors

2. How did you become interested in editing Wikipedia pages and did you have any initial fears/hesitations when you started editing pages?

  • When I had prepared a very long article on Shaligram (a fossil stone), on the suggestion of a colleague in my office I posted it on Wikipedia (till then I was not aware of Wikipedia) talk page in 2007. It was initially moved to Wikirage and then moved back to the talk page of the article (it is still there). This fired my interest to write more on Wikipedia. Initially, I wrote many articles related to Karnataka and on the advise of a senior editor of Wikipedia posted my first DYK article titled "Mysore Mallige" in September 2008 and forgot about it for a few months till I found its approval posted on my talk page; some senior users had made corrections to it as I was not fully aware of the rules. Since then I have not stopped editing, except for two one year breaks due to health reasons. I have now contributed 1548 articles to DYK and many others also, independently or in collaboration with several other users from India and abroad. 93 of these DYKs have been upgraded to GA status. If you see my list of articles on my user page you will find many of them related to anthropology and archaeology.

3. Have you ever been a victim of a mass deletion or other vandalism on Wikipedia? If yes, please explain the situation to me.

  • No, except for a few deletions due to my own errors

4. How would you describe your gender?

  • I do not like MCPs. I am a very positive person in my outlook on Woman and have contributed more than 120 articles on biography of woman or women related organizations and continue to do so.

5. Is there any thing else you would like to share with me about your experiences as a Wikipedia editor?

  • I feel that reviewers should be positive, inclusive and interactive in their review and not critical in approach and give out threats. No body is superior or inferior to any one. We are all volunteers doing editing for free and spending lots of time every day on editing here.

Thank you for taking the time to read this email. I would like you to know that I am only sharing my research with my professor and the other students in my class. If you would like me to send you a copy of my final project, I would be more than happy to! Sincerely. Stelba90 (talk) 00:42, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

  • Stelba90 Thanks for your interest in my editing work. I have replied to your above questions. Please send me your report when finalized. Nvvchar. 08:59, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 25[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Deogarh, Uttar Pradesh, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jagati (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Editor of the Week [27 August 2016][edit]

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week for geography-related edits. Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

User:Sainsf submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I nominate Nvvchar (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for significantly contributing to articles related to the geography of several countries, especially India. His works, most recently on religious scriptures, are of high quality and have extensively improved Wikipedia's coverage – he has 1483 DYKs and 66 GAs to his name, and lots of others that are B or C class. I have had the pleasure of interacting with him through GA reviews, and he has always been polite and humble. I have noticed him in many good collaborations with other editors. I feel we all are quite fortunate to have such a gem among us, he truly deserves this award.

Congratulations, Kaunakes passed for GA.[edit]

I have passed the article for GA. It is marked on the Talk page and my understanding is that a bot will eventually mark it with a green GA icon. I'm learning the ropes for GA.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 11:10, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

I have delisted this one as well, although it looks to be better than Kadmat at least. Fram (talk) 13:39, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

Congratulations, Kadmat Island passed for GA.[edit]

I have passed the article for GA. It reminded me of my travels to the South Pacific I did years ago. Those islands are so beautiful! --Doug Coldwell (talk) 11:41, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

And I have delisted it, as it containedmany errors and omissions. I have explained my reasons at the article talk page. Fram (talk) 12:38, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
