Background[edit]

Omunkete is a village situated about 4 km north of Etayi Constituency and about 35km northwest from Oshakati to Outapi in Omusati region.This village is more populated than the other villages in the constituence. The name Omunkete is originated from the name Oshikushomunkete, where the name referred to an area with many trees which is called "Omunkete tree" in Oshiwambo.

Omunkete is a small village where there are about 400 residents and around 170 houses. there is grazing of good quality, as there are availability of water. There is a good agricultural land in which omahangu is caltivated. In Omunkete village there is one school called Omunkete Combined School [1]. In Omunkete village there are many shebeens found, but there are no clinics and churches.

There is a permanent fish river which we call oshana that flow water from Angola to Ombuga where there are many plains.

Ovamboland,Oshana,Efundia.

and is one of the villages that are mostly affected by flood.

Neighbouring[edit]

omunkete village's neighbours are Oshikuku where is a secondary school, Hospital [2] and Roman Catholic church on the other side there is Etayi and omagalanga where the current Catholic bishop in Namibia was born. [3]where omunkete residents attend church services and go for hospital.
