Martin Lawson new article content ... Martin Lawson is a journalist and author who has worked for British news agencies, national and regional newspapers, radio and television. His most recent position was Head of Production for the London newsroom of the American news agency Associated Press. Before that he was an Executive Producer at Sky News. and also worked for the ITV breakfast television company TV-am as a News Editor, and at the BBC Television Newcastle studios as a producer and bulletin editor. He is the auithor of Live At The Front Page, a live music venue in Carlisle which he co-founded with his partner Bob Mungall in 1984.

Biography Born on April 20, 1954 in Workington, Cumbria, Martin Lawson was brought up in the Lake District village of Threlkeld and educated at Keswick School. In 1972 he began his journalistic career as a trainee reporter at Border Press Agency in Carlisle, leaving in 1976 to start Carlisle News Agency. He was also a staff journalist at Border Television, the ITV regional company based in Carlisle, from 1978 to 1980, when he left to return to Carlisle News Agency and worked as a freelance production journalist for BBC Radio Cumbria, Border Television, and BBC Television at their studios in Newcastle. During this period he was also writing for national newspapers and was a regular contribrutor to The Guardian as a feature writer, and to the News of the World as a football reporter.
