Alaska Central Express Flight 22 was a Alaska Central Express aircraft that crashed on its way to Anchorage from Sand Point, January 22 2010. The aircraft was a Beechcraft 1900C-1 converted to freight configuration, with a cargo of fish and mail. It crashed in the waters off Sand Point, soon after take off.[1] Both crew members were killed in the accident.[2]

Aircraft history[edit]

The aircraft first was delivered to Sovereign Air in December 1988. Since then the plane has operated for Aerolift Philippines, Pension Air, Alkair, Mesa Airlines and Great Lakes Aviation. May 5, 1997 it was bought by Alaska Central Express and in June 2003 it was converted into a cargo plane.[3]

The airplane had engines 2 Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-65B at the time of the accident.[3]
