On the morning of 23 August 1939, Germán Busch, the 36th president of Bolivia, shot himself in the head using a Colt .32 caliber revolver at his residence in Miraflores, La Paz. Busch died of his wounds that afternoon, at 2:35 p.m. at the General Hospital of La Paz.
